I am avid fan of Faiz Sahib's poetry in Urdu, but I never heard any of his punjabi compositions. Are there more of them. Absolutely mind blowing lyrics showing his state of mind. This was a man imprisoned for many years for his left leaning views. A friend of humanity persecuted by nearly every government in Pakistan. I read his pain in this piece. May you rest in peace Dear Faiz Sahib. Tina Sani sang it so well. Thanks to the team that posted it with translation. Hopefully I have added some additional background to Faiz's painful life.

Listening to it again today on the eve of August 14, I am crying tears of blood. In a land where hunger reigns supreme, and injustice is rampant celebration of independence is meaningless. May we someday feed our hungry, treat our labor with dignity, and provide medical care for our children. Until then I can't really celebrate independence day.
So moving, brings me to tears every time. Pakistan, please treasure these gems like ms Tina Sani, they are national treasures. She has contributed more to humanity by this one song alone than all religious clerics combined. My respects to all these artists who preach love, mysticism and spirituality in the face of ugly dogma. He who was pious falls down after being humiliated and defeated and cries out to The Lord who had promised him everything. the way this song presents his plea is sweet,sentimental and symbolic. Hope this tradition of questioning the religious doctrine from the days of Charvaka to Buddhism to sufi poets will remain strong in the subcontinent. This is a great example of traditional bhakti and sufi reformist ways to question the 'beliefs' within remaining in the fold of the 'similar belief'. Only a great like Faiz can do it so effortlessly. I am American born, but both my parents are Pakistani so i do understand a lot of Urdu; however i always had a hard time under standing songs like this when my parents played them. I love that there were English subs in the video, because it allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the song. This song is so nice.

Have not seen any singing presentation having more so many viewers. Seems, this innovative combination by CS Pakistan by seemingly having good musicians and all kinds of instruments from Indo-Pak to Middle East and the West and yet songs by Pakistan folk or other countries' folk singing is mesmerizing. Tina Sani has one of the best audiophile voices I have heard from the East. The presence, fluidity and range is impeccable. I wish there was a High Definition audio version of this session.

Listening to it again today on the eve of August 14, I am crying tears of blood. In a land where hunger reigns supreme, and injustice is rampant celebration of independence is meaningless. May we someday feed our hungry, treat our labor with dignity, and provide medical care for our children. Until then I can't really celebrate independence day.

Hope this tradition of questioning the religious doctrine from the days of Charvaka to Buddhism to sufi poets will remain strong in the subcontinent. This is a great example of traditional bhakti and sufi reformist ways to question the 'beliefs' within remaining in the fold of the 'similar belief'. Only a great like Faiz can do it so effortlessly. I am American born, but both my parents are Pakistani so i do understand a lot of Urdu; however i always had a hard time under standing songs like this when my parents played them. I love that there were English subs in the video, because it allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the song. This song is so nice.

I am an Indian but was born in Pakistan and have heard wonderful things about the country and it's people from my parents. Do not let politics come between the love Indians and Pakistanis share. Tina Sani has one of the best audiophile voices I have heard from the East. The presence, fluidity and range is impeccable. I wish there was a High Definition audio version of this session.
