Casio CTK-2400 review in detail

- Casio's CTK-2400 is clearly aimed at learners, and I've reviewed it accordingly. It has a lot to give - plenty of exercises along with a good introduction to styles and sounds, with the icing on the cake being the sampler which has a seriously high fun factor. This is a great all-rounder if you or your kids are testing the waters of musicianship!
Clearly aimed at Learners? As a piano player of 15 years I can proudly say I gig with this EXACT keyboard regularly, the speakers onboard are garbage, but coming out of the right type of amplifier, this thing sounds like pure gold and I love the action on it, I'm able to do my trills and my runs a lot easier and faster
That's cool, it's great to hear that this board has some longevity. I do think Casio had learners in mind when they designed it, but I too thought it was a generally good instrument and your experience would appear to support that :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts anything with a polyphony that's less than 32 would be aimed at beginners I would think, seeing as how this has 48, one would be right to assume that this is an intermediate level keyboard, or at the very least, the very top of the line of the beginners
@@8-biternie944 the Korg M1 was a professional instrument and it had 16 note polyphony
this is an improvement over the old sounds we are used to, not however that casio is still selling the ctk240 which has the old sound chip from 2006, I can't wait to get my hands on a newer casio some day
It felt so nice hearing somone play nobody home…such an overlooked song in the wall album
Love just about everything Richard Wright ever did on keyboards :)
I learned how to play on my CTK 2400 to play in front of about 200 people
Wow that's great! And that you for watching Gearfacts :)
Lol same but maybe mine was like 100 maybe 130 , it was an Open House at school . Played the first 30 seconds Schindler List and the first 30 seconds of Mia and Sebastian's theme
Thank you very much for the information❤. I appreciate you sir!❤
Thank you too :)
I think I would probably chose this keyboard over the CTK-3500.
The sampling function looks more fun than the dance mode.
One of the easiest ways to have laahs or even shoo be doos.
shoo-be-doo-wahhhhh!
I got this one a few years ago I was going to get one of those off brand keyboards that had midi and touch response, but decided to stick with good o'l casio since I have had several casios and loved them.
Gotta go with whatever makes you smile :) #gearfacts
Yikes, I always considered Casio as an off brand.
@@ComposerAdamWhite I was talking about those "fly by night brands"
I have this one. Haven't used it in a while.
just bought one for my former pro-guitar player sister. She loves it.
She's learning !
@@catzdollz9810 Just played it today and the nostalgia I feel :)
I like turtles.

Was that an attempt to play Nobody Home? :P Thanks for the comprehensive review.
Um... Yes. Beautiful song, sorry if I mauled it. It's about the most complex thing I am able to (kind of) play....
Is it possible to split the tones, I remember it did split one day but I haven't been able to reproduce it so it could be a bug...
Just bought one of these at an estate sale and I have no idea how the buttons are supposed to work. It would've been helpful to show that before demonstrating the different sound qualities. (4:40 min)
Fair point, I was focusing very heavily on sound quality. You can still view the manual online by googling the model followed by "PDF", it should be the first result.
@@gearfacts
yes, I just downloaded the manual.
6:17 Echo-Drop tone
An all-time fave :)
hey. I actually own the ctk4400. a guy from my music store messaged me today and told me he had one pre-owned. I know the piano sounds a bit different, and there are different aspects. but, if I already have a 4400, do I really need a 2400? I do admit some of them sound a bit better, and listening to this video again while I'm typing I do hear a big difference. also, how much does the 2400 weigh? I might get it for the fun. I'm not really a pro keyboardist, but I wouldn't call myself a beginner either. like you, I'm a guitarist, but love keyboards alot
of course, I can't find a voice recording sampler on the 4400, so I'm not sure if it does that.
Hmm your 4400 should definitely have a sampling function. As for the 2400, I don't know that model. It might not be available everywhere.
I have this exact keyboard at home
Cool, are there any features you particularly like about it?
Sampling sounds like freaking possessed chimps in a lost jungle but the keyboard is good for learning..thx for the detailed review :)
Thanks for watching!
can you use headphones to practice quietly with this kind of keyboard ?
Yep :)
@@sirpacifist7509 no, usb headphones won’t work
Can this be used as like a 80s synth music keyboard? Thanks!
I think so, there are a few 80s sounds in there 👍
@@gearfacts Acutally. I found a Yamaha Pss-470 I bidded on. Looks to be a perfect beginner/intermediate platform. Thanks for the reply sir!
My pleasure!
sir how to make tone bank in casio ctk 2400
To save a tone, you mean? You can't save tones on the 2400 unfortunately. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Sir what is difference between Casio ctk 3500 and 3200
I don't know, you'd have to google that one. Sorry
3200 has sampling, 3500 has dance music mode

Why wont anybody post how to record and playback , the most important ! Tf smh 😒
I don’t like it is loud when you tap the keys and the sound is not good
Yes, it does have a harsh edge to the sound.
Lol.
Naic
Is it touch sensitive, like an actual piano ?
+djilyaz I think it's the LK 260, not the LK 175. I could be wrong though
Ashton Leo you are right, it's the lk260, thanks
TacoIsHere it's not
Why my CASIO 2400 doesnt work , even I can see twinkle
हिंदी में बताइए
how many keys?
66 I think :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts 61 keys NOT 66..
@@adriaanlaurijsen Hm, weird typo there :? Yes it is indeed the standard 61 key layout.
The sounds are terrible in my opinion
Welcome to the sub $100 price point ! Lolz
Wow sounds so bad!!
There are certainly better options out there!
Crappy 'sales' attitude at the opening, and it was conveyed throughout; "I'll let you be the judge of that!" How can a beginner judge!!! If the sound is bad. SAY SO!
It's not that simple. Me saying "I"ll let you be the judge" is a polite way of saying it's bad. If I go ahead and say that though, then everyone who bought it will be messaging me with hate mail. So what am I supposed to do?
Lol. This keyboard is fine for a variety of skill levels and playing styles. As with any instrument running it through effects will make a world of difference. It’s a Casio btw so it’s a preset player. It’s not going to have wave shaping or adsr. I’m buying one now at goodwill. Thanks Gearfacts!
Does this keyboard have piano touch?
Great review.
