Coach back in the 80/90s was probably the same quality as you get with Hermes today. Leather was thick and buttery, hardware was solid brass, and they wore like a tank!

Food for thought on the Coach bag. In the 90’s Coach bags were made in New York (I still have a Coach Bonnie Cashin from back then.) Today they are primarily made in China, plus some are made in Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. Maybe you’ll find a vintage in great condition.

Dacob - I've been listening to all of what you are saying about Virginie - My husband worked for Unilever for about 10 years on the food service side and everything that is going on makes me shiver because this is so similar to what my husband experienced. There are other things I can tell you about the direction Unilver is wanting to go in with their company and it appears that Leena Nair has definitely brought that culture to Chanel.

Regarding doctors… I was misdiagnosed and told my symptoms were in my head (or due to weight) for 15 years, only to finally be diagnosed with the MS I had all long. Yes, it WAS all in my head and spine, in the manner of lesions that were killing off my nerve myelin. The worst thing is, I work in healthcare and still couldn’t get anyone to listen to me.

It would be interesting to do a vintage 1990s vs current re-edition Coach City Bag comparison (I know you speculated the leather may be different, but hardware and overall construction would be fun to look at). John Waters gives great interview and is a fantastically funny storyteller (I've seen his personal appearance solo show - went on my own as none of my friends knows who he is - WTF). Part of me wonders if there was much thought that went into choosing Serial Mom's bag - or did they select it as a stereotypical 'mommy bag'? The current day 'mommy bag' is probably the LV Neverfull (which I hate, just my personal opinion). Apparently Boy George had 'C**ksucker Residence' as his answermachine message at one point (John Waters shared this factoid himself).

Oh how I would love a moment like that! Who would stop her if that was her conditions? And she.they could conceal the shirts with jackets/ white coats until they hit the runway! Coach bag are very well-made. They pride themselves on the superior quality of their leather. I have mine since the 90’s. They look new.
