@@court2379 Not to mention the fact that the top rail is no longer straight because of the cut and weld.
@@FalconPunchPro1 It would be tricky to keep it straight as the welds shrink. I don't understand how this is felt to be stronger. A chunk of the top bar is removed which weakens it greatly. Then the lower tube is inserted, but it is hollow, so not strong in the same direction as the removed piece.
If he really wants it strong, don't cut the upper tube at all. Make a tab from the sides of the lower tube, and bend them around the upper tube and weld all around. A saddle of sorts.
