- In this Tamron 35-150mm Nikon Z mount review I put the lens through its paces to see how well it works in conjunction with my Nikon Z7. The Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 Di III VXD is Tamron's second lens for the Nikon Z mount system. In this real world test and review I venture out and give you samples of photos and video using my 45MP full frame Nikon Z7 camera.

I love your introduction more than anyone so far. This is very funny.
Great thorough review and fabulous range of examples to show what it can do. That bokeh is gorgeous!
Thanks for watching enjoy your weekend 🙏
Great thorough review Adrian. Looks like an awesome, versatile lens for sure. Loved the sample images & especially the footage of the birdies:) Definitely great value for $ ! Thanks for sharing! cheers
Thanks so much Peter. Have a great weekend cheers 🙏
Tamron and Sigma just continue to get better and better while keeping the price point relatively cheap vs. the price gouging system lenses. I think I said a couple weeks ago, I'll never buy another Sony lens and this Tamron 35-150 is definitely on my wish list. Loved that self portrait mate! Very nice! Thanks for another great video! Hope you are doing well! Have a fantastic week down there!
Thanks for watching Paul. Oh yeah it would be amazing on your Sony camera. Have no doubts about that. You can use it for so many things it’s just nuts. Hope you have a great week ahead mate, take care 📸🙏
Very informative video Adrian and great demo's. Many thanks for sharing and have a great weekend :)
Thanks Shaun. Appreciate you watching. Hope you have a great weekend mate. Cheers 🍻 🙏
Another great video Adrian. That Tamron lens looks awesome and indeed a superb all rounder. Have a great week mate.
Agreed Richard. A great all rounder. Thanks for watching mate 🙏
That is one lens I know alot of indoor sports photographers were waiting for. Nice review Adrian. Enjoyed it. Cheers.
I agree, I think this lens would be great for that. Thanks for watching, enjoy your day 🙏
Can’t wait to use this for indoor basketball
Hi Adrian, what a funny intro 🤣 I think, basically, we can use every lens for photographing everything. But wedding photography, as you have mentioned, and reportage photography, in general, is maybe the best use case for that focal range. Looks after a great lens.
Thank you for this great review, buddy!
Have a great weekend,
Christian
Cheers Christian. This lens is really good for low light situations like shooting indoors or at night. You’re right, wedding photographers should look at this lens. Have a great day buddy thanks for watching 📸🙏
keep up these great video's!
Thanks, will do!
Your videos are superb. However, this intro top them all really cool one 10/10
Thank you for watching. I really appreciate your kind comment 🙏
Cool review.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Back in the day, Tamron used to be a very second class lens company but since Sony has taken a major holding of the company, about ten years ago, the quality of Tamron lenses has moved up dramatically. I have three Tamrons, the 70-200 F4, that is one of my favourite lenses and the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 GII that is also a magnificent lens but on the heavy side. For APS-C, I have the Tamron 18-400 that would have to be the travel lens of all time. But these lenses that I have mentioned are all FMount and the 35-150mm Z is extremely tempting for my Z Mount camera. I’ve watched several reviews on this lens and they are all good. So, like Adrian, I might find this lens in my camera bag pretty soon. Cheers
Thank you for watching, cheers 🙏
Great job, Adrian! This is almost certainly my next lens. I'll be getting the Sony mount instead of the 24-70 & 70-200 combination and saving a heap of money. My sports photographer Z9 shooting buddy is chomping at the bit for this one. I think this lens not being available for Canon is a genuine drawback for Canon shooters. I've heard that the USB -C port that is exposed is also weather-sealed but I'm with you, I'd prefer for it to be covered. As for that button, I never use the buttons on lenses so I would probably plug it into the computer and disable that button if that's an option.
Thanks for watching Phil, cheers and have a great weekend 🙏
Wow,wonderful.
Thank you! Cheers!

Thank you, well done, only thing I missed was a 4k sample footage with less sharpening than those 1080p.
Thanks so much for watching 🙏
Very nice piece of glass Adrian, thanks for sharing mate. I have looked at a few Tamron lenses, but I am probably changing cameras soon so I am holding off for now. Being a Nikon guy have you heard of an ETA for the ZF?
Thanks for watching John. Zf shouldn't be too far off. I think Nikon was delayed for the issues fixing the Z8 recalls. Have a great weekend mate, cheers 🙏
I have sony and looking this lens for couple month Finally I order it instead carry 24-70 + 70-200
with this lens and 20 or 24 prime is all I need
Great Video! I was wondering if you shoot jpeg does the camera do the distortion corrections for this lens like it does for native Nikon lenses?
Thanks for watching. That’s a really good question. I’m pretty sure it does. I will double check for you though 🙏
I have this lens for Sony if you shoot events its off the hook good, beautiful IQ, and never have to swap a lens,
Agreed. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@adrianalfordphotography I shoot alot of birds and I love what Nikon is doing, their tele glass has me very envious. I own the 200-600 and 600F4, those light 4 and 800 lenses from Nikon have me excited for Nikons future
@@longrider9551 yes, they are superb lenses you mentioned there
I am so jealous you have had that lens to muck around with. I just did two shoots on the weekend for for a school and the Queensland Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony concerts. I can tell you carrying the Sigma sport 70-200 f2.8 for several hours at a time on my Z6II, is like carting a tank. Only having one body as well, I hate having to have a sling bag or pouch on me to constantly swap out to the 24-70 or 14-30.
If Can get the penny's together I think I will be buying this lens.
Cheers, Chris
Yep! This is the exact lens you need for what you were shooting on the weekend Chris. You hit the nail on the head why this lens is also so good. You don’t have to continually change lenses and you don’t have lug other lenses around on ya back. Be perfect on the Z6II. Cheers and thanks for watching 📸🙏
@@adrianalfordphotography Hi Adrian, I am not sure if you still have the Tamron lens on loan? I just thought it would be interesting to see what the reach comparison is like between your 70- 200 f mount lens at 200 mm and the Tamron at 150 mm. And maybe both at 150mm to see how they compare? Just a thought.
Cheers, Chris
@@christopherpitstock8144 Good idea mate, but the lens went back yesterday. I do have another comparison video going up this weekend though for this lens..
Adrian, I really enjoyed this review. Where was the shore location - Redcliffe, Sandgate?
Thanks for watching. Sandgate I think? Have a great weekend 🙏
Interesting lens, specially like the F2.0-2.8 aperture. Do you feel that the 35mm is wide enough? I have never had a 35mm lens even in my film days, when I use my 24-70 I mostly shoot at 24 to 50 mm range. Anyway, awesome video as always and thank you.
Thanks so much for watching. Next weeks video I chat about that 35mm being wide enough. Have an awesome weekend, cheers 🙏
you read my mind....
@@adrianalfordphotography
Adrian, have you compared this to the z70-200 2.8? Interested in image quality and focus speed compared to that lens.
Thanks for watching. I have another comparison video coming out this weekend I think you may find interesting..If you were wanting that bit of extra reach I'd go for the 70-200mm it is however a little more expensive than this lens. Plus you have that more diverse focal length with the Tamron.
Nice video Adrian ! a question, how good is the photos of the moon and other sky objects with this lense ?
Thanks for watching and your comment. I think the bare minimum focal length you need for the moon is 200mm, preferably 600mm. I would not get this lens for that. This lens is mainly for event and wedding photographers that need a diverse focal range with a low aperture for bokeh. Plus they don't have change lenses continually. Cheers 🙏
@@adrianalfordphotography thanks !
Great review! Would you say it is as sharp as Nikon s lenses? 24-120 or 70-200? Especially wide open? Is the weight noticeable? Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching. I have a detailed comparison video coming out this Saturday the 23rd. Hope you can watch then, cheers 📸
Have you noticed any vignetting? Looking forward to seeing your new video
@@loonytoongonemad8304 no I have not noticed any vignetting. All lens corrections were turned on on the Z7 🙏
Are you worried about the USB port on the side of the lens use to update firmware which will get water to get inside the lens, do you think it is easy to get water in? Thank you.
Apparently that USBC port is weather sealed. I’m probably being to picky. You can buy a handful of USBC port rubber covers off eBay for about a $1.60. That should fix those who are nervous about it
How does it compare to the Nikon 24-120 Z mount lens?
Next week’s video my friend. Thanks so much for watching 🙏
Sir, is it weather sealed? I’m asking because you said that you were concerned about the open usb port. Thanks
The lens is weather sealed. For the open USBC port you can simply buy some $2 USBC rubber cover off eBay
Would you recommend this over the Nikon 24-120 Z lens?
Thank you so much for watching. I have been asked this a lot and I have a video coming out this Saturday the 23rd which will show a more detailed comparison between the two. I hope that video helps you, cheers 🙏📸
Would you recommend this over the Nikon Z 24-120mm F4 S?
I have just posted a comparison video on those lenses 🙏 ua-cam.com/video/ZP3TrHFrue0/v-deo.htmlsi=Z3KftoZlb6ZfHksI
The elephant in the room... Is it to heavy? How do you compare it with the 24-120mmm F4? Thanks!
A lot of people have asked that. I have a comparison video coming very soon. Cheers 🍻
@@adrianalfordphotographyThank you!Looking forward to see it. I'm considering this switch but want to be sure 😃
Could I use this on the nikon D850
No. This is a Z mount lens
seems sharp in a very bussy way. really hope i m wrong about this
Definitly for pro. Hobbyist like me prefer bring 2 prime: 20/35-50/85
But could it perform better than a S or GM lens
Depends on the photographer and their skill level
Too bad I bought the Nikon Z 70-180, now can't return it to buy this.
They’re not shipping here til end of month. Grrr
Thanks for watching 🙏
Use scotch tape as a temporary cover for the usb port.
That’s not good in case any of the sticky goo gets inside the port. You can buy usb c port covers for a $1.60 off ebay
@@adrianalfordphotography Some hobby tak/putty might work, too.
