    First story: Rick is an idiot. Jen should fight her own battles, not rely on her sister to do her dirty work. Second story: This man had better think very carefully about his future with this family. It sounds like they only think of him as a checkbook.

    I can’t stand ungrateful people like you can literally do the smallest thing for me and I’ll still be grateful

      Fr. When me my uncle and aunt got the best freaking pizza we all took a moment to talk about how grateful we are because not everywhere has a oizza place you can just go to, not wveryone even has food at all, were not in war, have a roof over our heads etc. life is so beautiful yes there are downsides but man im grateful even just for the beautiful scenery at my house theres always something to be grateful for and life is so much better when you can realize that

    I am so happy that the guy's fiancée was on his side. That said, she knew her family was like that, so it would have been nice of her to mention it sooner.

    First story that's not being ungrateful, that's being stubborn to the point of being self-destructive. Story 2, now that's ungrateful. OP is paying for the meals and their response is that "they're the ones taking time to meet up" what are they, rockstars?

  • @ricebeansrockroll882

    The fact the fiancee knew, and let them do this to his family? Red flag

    Dude spent $240 at a restaurant ( do you know how many groceries he could have bought) and all he expected was the tip to be covered and her family considered him ungrateful?! On what planet?!
    And you get a good meal and all you tip is a buck?!?! Seriously?!?! Pathetic

  • @tracybarber-kier1669
    @tracybarber-kier1669 3 місяці тому +21

    And the in-laws were calling the OP ungrateful?!? Sounds like garbage people to me.

  • @reeses_unicorn

    4:25 The fiancee's family might as well just never go out to restaurants, then! The staff WILL remember you if you don't tip.
    Besides that, waitstaff put up with way too much bullcrap to only be tipped $1.

    • @riel4553
      @riel4553 3 місяці тому +9

      The story is giving me terrible second hand embarrassment; the owner of the restaurant is OP's uncle and the waiters are his cousins, he thought he was doing a good thing by bringing all these people as guests without realizing that his future in-laws were damaging the relationship with his family.

    ONE DOLLAR TIP????? That's just an insult. That's worse than just not tipping at all. Tipping isn't as big a thing here but you do tip in restaurants and for a £200 meal you'd tip £20 unless included in the bill or the service was dreadful.

    Bro wtf is wrong with Jen & Rick ☠️ like what they’re saying is so delulu & doesn’t make sense to the point where i don’t even understand their ‘logic’ 😭
    They heard “delulu is the solulu” & decided to make that their life motto

    Rick and Jen - never pick up the tab when you didn’t pick the restaurant. I can see why Rick and Jen felt bad about having to pay a bill at a restaurant that was out of their price range but Rick literally volunteered. If he'd said nothing or maybe offered to split the bill next time, instead of the whole thing, all would have been well, but no, he had to see having dinner paid for him as an affront to his masculinity and insist on writing cheques he couldn’t cash. Did he even check the amount on the bills OP and husband were paying first. Of course not. 'Jen's not working due to school and Rick's money is going on the household so cash is tight' is a perfectly acceptable excuse to accept a nice meal out for free.

    I've got a way to deal with those $1 tippers, when the bill comes put down $1 say "I've paid my contribution the rest is up to you" and walk out! They'll never only tip $1 again!

    • @sarahglover3286
      @sarahglover3286 3 місяці тому +2

      Also they should probably do it as uncle's place and inform their family that thats what they're going to do so they can pay secretly after so the restaurant isn't out of pocket but they still make the point to the inlaws!

    The US servers shouldnt need tips to just survive and get by, they should get paid living wages and not depend on the clients for it, but there is a big difference between being against that awful "custom" and being entitled to get free food and just being a cheapskate

  • @TeacherTonya74
    @TeacherTonya74 3 місяці тому +1

    Tipping in US is usually around 20% for good service. Current federal minimum wage for servers is $2.13 with minimum wage for other workers $7.25, although it is higher in some states. My grandmother used to tip $1 so I started offering to pay the tip when she took me out.

  • @powerofk
    @powerofk 3 місяці тому +2

    Umm... Yeah. The $240 meal required AT LEAST a $40 tip (and that's even considered being on the "cheap" end. More proper would be at least $50). In the US, waitstaff are allowed to be paid abysmally low wages (literally paid around $2.50/hr, often not even enough to cover tax liability). Waitstaff live off of tips. So common courtesy is to tip MINIMUM 18%, with the expected tip being at least 20% of the bill.

      Try living on less than $3 an hour and see how that feels, then maybe you would understand. If people don't want to tip then don't go out!!!! It's always the poorer people who can't afford it that tip best. A lot of richer people just think they are better and are entitled.

    I hate tipping I think it should be made illegal in the US. But until that happens 🤞 I would never not tip a waitress. Like wtf? And she knew her family did this. So she knew so many people worked for free. Not tipping a waitress is making them work for no pay. Lots of communication needs to happen between these two before they consider marriage m. And get a prenup.

    How are you doing sweetie? How are you feeling? I hope just great!! In the very first story, why is Jen even acting like that because seeing who will pay for the food is not a competition. If Rick needs help paying or covering his half of the meal then that's completely okay. Jen really needs to just be quiet because she wasn't saying any of that before her boyfriend Rick came into the picture. The main protagonist and her husband Tom like to wine and dine themselves with expensive food and beverages too, and they both don't mind paying for Jen either. It's all Rick's fault to tell you the truth because why did he offer to pay the bill when could see that the waiters weren't bringing out ordinary food that just anybody eats. Rick just wanted to impress Jen by showing her that he was on the same level as the main protagonist and her husband, but in the end it was him who walked away feeling embarrassed and humiliated. In the second story, your entire family including your fiancee has been just taken advantages of you and using you for your money. They all wine and dine like crazy, you paying the expensive bill, while they all just tip the waiter or waitresses $1 which is a complete disgrace. Taxes on an item or items that you purchase from a store cost more than a dollar. The main protagonist's fiancee is just saying that, she doesn't really understand nothing. Here in America some places like Door Dash really care about tips to the point where if you don't tip them then you're not getting your food. There are several videos of disgruntled Door Dash drivers freaking out about not recieving tips. How in the holy world is he ungrateful when he always pays for the meals. They are all just mad at him because they know that they can't go crazy with the ordering like they've always done before. I love you!! Have a nice day!! Stay safe!!
