If u really wanna you swing it don't tape it completely. Only one half. The science behind swing demands one side to be smooth and other to be rough...that's when the air pressure is created and bends the delivery in air.

During my childhood we used to tape only the seam part and we always got insane out swingers and in swingers. We really loved to imitate the test match slip fieldings. 😂Boy cricket in those times was cool. Everyone suddenly became a zaheer khan or james anderson.
Swing isn't based on how fast one can bowl but on the wrist and seam. 130-135 is the ideal speed for swing bowling. That's why you won't see Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar among the exponents of swing bowling Wasim Akram, Glen McGrath, M Asif,Anderson, Southee,Irfan ,Vernon Philander. Steyn also cuts even tho he was a fast bowler because he had a strong and accurate wrist position behind the ball which helped him master the out swing.
My two boys played ‘bin cricket’ through their teens; experimenting with modifications to the cricket ball. Taping up half the ball works well for swing; glueing on strips of old bat handle grip works a treat for seam movement
All those method works , but you can also really swing it with one fully colored one (in legit way, no tricks like 2 color). Just need good wrist position and release with rapid wrist flick.. just like with hard Ball. It works and it's so satsifying
