Love watching your reactions to these 80’s Arnold movies. I laughed at all the same spots when I first saw them back in the day. His one liners are the best.
In the story this was based on, the competition was much larger: The 'man' could go anywhere in the United States, but had to send in a video segment of himself every day. The public was offered cash rewards for killing him. If he lasted for 30 days, he'd 'win' a whole lot of cash. The ending is... Something that I can't imagine they'd translate into a movie right now if they still wanted the 'man' to be considered a good guy.
I used to GAF about King's opinion....Until I realized that I didn't like anything he wrote after his coke-head days (which ended around 1987) and then also because I realized how insufferably political he's gotten since the 90's.
Too bad Robert Sheckley had beaten him to the plot with his 1960's novel 'The Prize of Peril' which was adapted as a 1970 German television film 'Das Millionenspiel' and a 1983 French film, 'Le Prix du Danger'.
For those not familiar, Richard Dawson, who played Killian, was the original host of "Family Feud" from 1976 to 1985. I believe this was the last thing he appeared in between 1985 and an unsuccessful comeback to the Feud in 1994.
Richard Dawson was also a regular on the game show Match Game in the 70's. (A game show where contestants would have to match answers with the celebrity panel)
The whole "Don't touch that dial" line... you guys may be too young to remember but that was a tagline at the end credits of a show that I think NVC used to use to tell people to stay tuned for the next show coming up.
That exact line is also used in _Scrooged_ (also on this channel) when the guy with the shotgun bursts into the control booth near the end of the movie.
Actually, Mortal Kombat wasn't such a thing yet; didn't come out until 1992. I had an imagination that if you mentioned "Mortal Kombat" that time 1987, some people might be like "What's Mortal Kombat?". 🙂 I enjoy sharing facts with channels & people. I was born on Nov. 5, 1985, & 37 now.
I think you guys laughed harder at this than some comedies. In fairness, I'd forgotten how good some lines like "I don't do requests" are. My personal favourite is the "I'll be back." "Only in a rerun." It's such a fun comeback to Arnold's most famous line.
The way Richard Dawson talks about the janitor mopping the floor, that’s how he is behind the scenes, he rules family feud with an iron fist, even though he saved the game show from ratings failure
Stephen King wrote the novella this was adapted from. The book's social commentary is both more subtle and somehow a lot more prevalent. It's also *much* bleaker. Unfortunately, we'll never get a more accurate adaptation because the ending . . . Well, let's just say it would never fly in a post-9/11 world.
I love this movie. They took a story that was notable only for the ending and made a fun cheese Arnold movie that scrapped the very problematic looking back ending.

A real classic Arnold movie. Nice 😎
Can ya’ll react to the Sherlock Holmes (2009) and its sequel, Game of Shadows?
The only thing funnier than Arnold’s puns is seeing other people laugh hysterically at his puns. 😂
One of my favorite Arnie movies. Glad you guys liked it!
I love this movie on so many levels.. However, the fact that Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac plays himself in it, is amazing :)
26:20. "Don't touch that dial" was dweezils catch phrase on MTV. Don't touch that dial. I spat on it.
I recommend Brazil (1985) it’s a fever dream and it’s amazing!
One of the earliest Schwarzenegger films where he started busting out one liners
When it comes to movie puns? Nobody does it better than Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Running Man is one of my favourite Arnie films.
Gotta love Arnold's cheesy lines lol. You guys should check out the movie beerfest
You guys laughing made it even funnier.
I don't think any other movie has better leveraged Arnie's ability to deliver one-liners.
Did you watch Commando?
I always wanted to go on that slide as a kid 😅
Richard Dawson (Damon Killian) really did have a split personality. He was funny and witty and appeared nice on camera...iff camera, he could be a sutly, mezn cuss.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is and always will be the Master of the One-Liner.
