- Dad was on the nest for 37 minutes. However, I used fast motion for some of the time that Mom and Dad were settled into their positions for keeping the nestlings covered which is noted in the video with timecodes.
0:11 D28 pops his or her head out from under Mom and Mom checks either D26 or D27
0:30 Dad flies down to the nest, perhaps in response to the nestlings chirping, and stands next to Mom
1:49 D28 briefly pops up his or her head
3:16 Dad moves to the front of the nest, perhaps thinking that it would be a better strategy to keep the nestlings' back ends covered while they have their heads under Mom
4:52 Dad shakes the upper part of his body while not moving off the nestlings then Mom shakes her head
5:07 Dad adjusts his position slightly to aerate the nest
6:32 Dad has dozed off
6:41 Mom stretches her wings, rouses, stretches her wings again then looks around outside the nest
7:06 and 7:26 a muffled thunking sound can be heard
9:47 Mom dozes off
10:27 Mom shakes her head
10:33 Dad wakes up
11:12 Mom preens, shakes her head and preens some more
11:24 Dad stands up
11:33 Dad shakes his head then heads for the back of the nest
12:17 Dad flies up to the skywalk - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Dad to the rescue....how nice.....quite the storm....thanks for the vid
You're most welcome. :)
I absolutely love this eagle couple. And I love how Dad came to help mom keep the babies safe from the weather
Beautiful parents
Just now really read your captions on this video! Too cute! I live in the Pacific Northwest and would love to lend them a BIG umbrella! Stay safe beautiful eagle family!
Wonderful video! I've never seen both do that together. Such cooperation and bonding with this pair and their offspring.
Bart Madness Check back a few weeks ago for an earlier video. Mom was incubating the eggs and there was a snow and ice storm. Dad came to the nest and covered her helping to keep her warm while she provided warmth to the eggs. Probably as a result of their cooperation that night we now have three healthy eaglets. They really do work well together to provide for each other and their offspring.
Thanks, I'll have to look that up!
Hopefully Troy Fairbanks hasn't gotten any of the Decorah Eagles. I just read that sad article by the AP about the Soix indians killing Eagles for profit in Iowa. Article is called Eagle Chop Shop.
Gosh I had no idea! Just looked it up. Over 250 🦅 Looks like Troy Fairbanks has been indicted along with 14 others. They will appear in court to respond to charges this week. Let's hope that it goes to trial. Idk how they thought killing American Bald Eagles was okay.
What a touching scene. Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome. :)

I follow the Decorah Family Eagles every day. I fell in love with these beautiful birds of prey. Congratulations for all the attention and care you are doing to the queens of heaven - Google translate
You are very welcome but it is Raptor Resource Project that provides the live stream of the nest. :)
Sei molto ben accetto ma è Raptor Resource Project che fornisce il flusso in diretta del nido. - Google translate
Ok👍
They really love their babies...so sweet! Thanks for sharing with us prairiefirewind :>)
You're very welcome. :)
So beautiful!!
this nest is much more relaxed then the north Decorah Eagles one with the 2 eaglets ... the parents seem just more caring here n i notice nearly every year they have 3 eaglets ...
She doesn't make it easy for him! lol. He even tried to give her a little kiss on the cheek when he arrived - how sweet.
How adorable . love it . thank you mom and dad
Such great parents and such sweet eaglets. D28 has my heart.
Beautiful ...thank you so much for sharing...such awesome parents... love love love it ... 💕😘👍
This is unreal for them to do this! Eagles never cease to amaze me! TU for the video!
These two eagles are so dedicated to each other and their offspring. ❤️
These parents are wonderful. I wish they had a little roof. Love the babies.
This is simply adorable!!! Great footage!
love this nest
I think it was funny how long it took Dad to get in place. He kept looking at Mom as if to say what should I do!!
I was so worried that the nest or the tree would be blown over with those high winds. I'm glad they are ok.
Just found this, it is so beautiful, thank you prairiefirewind
Cute Caption names!!! LOL - So sweet - humans sure could (and should) learn a lot about parenting by watching Bald Eagles!
I love this!!!!
Wet and sooo cold! I hope they don't get sick. :(
Mom and Dad have a 100% fledge rate for 25 eaglets. Being wet is probably not fun for the nestlings but Mom and Dad know how to keep them warm enough and healthy in rainy weather.
Thank you for the reassurance. I suppose I was imagining myself in that rain and cold. It was like mid-30's or so, right? brrrrr :)
Wow this eagle father does a better job than some human dead beat fathers 😂😂😂
cosa fanno x i loro piccoli 😙

If you are asking why the parents are protecting the nestlings from the rain it is because the the down they currently have does a poor job of repelling water.
Se stai chiedendo perché i genitori stanno proteggendo i nidri dalla pioggia, è perché il basso che hanno attualmente ha un lavoro povero di respingere l'acqua. - Google translate
Where is this nest?
The nest is across the street from the fish hatchery in Decorah, IA
At times like this, I wish I could just press a button and have a roof slide out over the top of their nest. I know I know, impossible. Oh they look so sad and miserable.
