Hello there Mike!! Wanted to say another great ride on my favorite interstate.I-285 because I am a native Georgian -was born in Marietta GA and lived in a suburb (about 30 miles west of Atlanta called Douglasville for over 30 years) my dad was an over the road truck driver for UPS and driving was his passion. He drive for over 30 years; drove doubles . Driving 285 was our life, and know it very well as being born and raised there was a big advantage as we were very familiar with every interstate going through and around the Atlanta area . Avoiding the morning and evening rush hours was quite crucial . Thank you so much for taking me home on 285 - miss being home. 🙂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍👍👍🛣🛣🛣🛣🛣
I've been on every section of this interstate. I used(and still do use ) the section from I-85 in College Park to I-20 near Adamsville and I-75 in Marietta. Only two times I have used the section from I-75 to I-85 in Dekalb County Great Video Mike.
@@MileageMikeTravels why don’t you check on why there isn’t a interstate from Atlanta to Memphis? It’s a super long trip to get there and also what is Georgia DOT is doing about I-20 west/east bound traffic interchange with I-285! It’s a mess
@@delmarwilson8560Atlanta and Memphis are abt 336 miles without any obstacles but by road its 391 miles. I-22 & I-20 do connect Memphis and Atlanta almost directly connected other than the fact that I-22 doesn’t go as an interstate or freeway past Mississippi border. Also both I-20 interchanges with I-285 have construction projects to completely reconstruct the interchange. Heres the one near Six Flags: ua-cam.com/video/M2esu2SRIKM/v-deo.htmlsi=8jfPTRQVqhlNmI6h And the one on the opposite side: ua-cam.com/video/K-v0jrh2RqY/v-deo.htmlsi=pS2anNTwWiojKZH2 as good as the interchanges will be, traffic will probably still back up because Atlanta drivers are absolutely terrible.
The long bridges beginning at 23:22 carry vehicle traffic below the Atlanta airport's 5th taxiway and runway, in that order (runway 10/28). Mile marker 59.4.
I’ve been using this interstate for over 40 years and still haven’t gotten to the end :) When I was a new driver circa 1979, traffic was very light on Sunday afternoon. I would drive I-285 just to build experience.
I-285 Atlanta I-495 DC I-610/BW-8 Houston I-485 Charlotte I-275 Cincinnati I-270 Columbus I-465 Indianapolis I-270 St Louis Loop freeways are all over.
Alright! It's the Redneck 500! This without a doubt was my most hated interstate in the whole US. I have driven in every major metro area of the mainland US on every major interstate and almost all the lesser ones. Nothing is worse than I-285. Nothing. Is. Worse. And trucks are mandated to it except for local deliveries. I will die never having to go back there. What a relief.
I wish an Atlanta outer beltway had been constructed. Even something smaller that was proposed like the Northern Arc(back when Roy Barnes was Georgia governor), would've really helped things with I-285. It seems like an outer beltway will probably never happen, due to how powerful NIMBY interests are in the suburbs north of 285. GADOT has now been talking about widening GA Highway 20, but whether that will reduce pressures on 285, who knows. I fear it won't, myself.
Worst laid out big city in America. No outer perimeter. Getting from Kennesaw to Alpharetta to Gwinnett is a nightmare of county roads with a million traffic lights.

I-285 Atlanta
I-495 DC

I-485 Charlotte
I-275 Cincinnati
I-270 Columbus
I-465 Indianapolis
I-270 St Louis

One day we'll have 417/429 in Orlando and TX 99 in Houston. Don't forget about 295 in Jax, 265 in Louisville, and Briley Pkwy in Tennessee
Hpuston and Dallas have 3 perimeters each. Atlanta has 1

best way to travel the perimeter of Atlanta. via video.
💯 agreed
Great drive on interstate 285
I checked out your other interstate 285 video
Nice drive along I 285 Inner towards Atlanta
And some people say I-285 is the best way to get around the I-85 nightmare! I-285 is just as terrible! Nice video Mike
You're not wrong in fact 285 is most likely to be worse. I-85 through Downtown is not as bad as I-285
Tennessee is the best way to get around Atlanta..
@@VidClips858could you elaborate on that?
@@w-josh Take I-40 through NC and TN.
@@VidClips858 oh ok, but that wouldn’t work if you’re going south

One thing I've found interesting about the Perimeter is sometimes the traffic is worse on it than it is on the freeways inside of it

Well, with traffic in the morning or evening probably about another 20/40 extra mins depending on construction a crash, etc
He started at the intersection of what is called Spaghetti Junction
I been on I 285 from I 85 which is exits 95 to I 85 which is exits 68.
Haven't driven through Atlanta since 1999.
One big mess, unless you driving 2am😂😂😂
It’s time for another perimeter around Atlanta. 285 is a regular freeway now

Sometime next year
Never
@@enique1103quite a lot of progress on it lately, though with the new express lanes planned after this, you’re pretty much right.
