@@madisonwebster5417 You people don't seem to understand how things work. Putin will never be held accountable. 1st because there is no real evidence of war crimes (yet at least, because there's nothing proven in international courts. No not even Bucha). 2nd because the only 1 who could really push for it is the US. And US won't do it you know why?! Because Obama and Bush are some of the worst war criminals in recent years. So US doesn't have the moral ground unless they trial their own presidents(which of course they will not). That's why Russia invaded Ukraine. Because US/NATO did the exact the same thing to Serbia in Kosovo. They even used the same articles from UN to justify the war. And of course it was rejected. As it was in the Kosovo case. US didn't care, and Russia didn't care either. And in the case of this invasion Russia spent 8 years building up a casus belli, that was way way more solid than what US/NATO used in Serbia.

Every single war criminal in history has used that argument, but in the end, their intentions are not to call out hypocrisy or anything it’s to distract away from what they have done to deflect blame away from themselves. When they themselves are to blame because they chose to do it.

Next you can do 10 war criminals who escaped justice. Like former US president Harry S. Truman for dropping two attomic bombs on civilians, Winston Churchill for his atrocities in India, Goerge w. Bush, jr. For launching an illegal war that took over the lives of over a million Iraqis, former Israeli PM for the sabra and shatilla massacres in 1982, the Irgun and Hagana terrorist groups that committed the ethnic cleansing of 750.000 Palestinians from area 48, known now as Israel, and the complete destruction of more than 500 Palestinian villages in what is refered to as Al-Nakba "the catastrophe" which is still ongoing nowadays in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.

"You're responsible for the some of the most brutal crimes in modern history!....50 years in a British jail!"....yeah, that seems fair. I don't know the exact cost of a bullet or a rope but I feel like that would be cheaper and a better use of resources. It's not like any of his appeals would've worked anyway. I'm not really for the death penalty because mistakes do get made occasionally and to be honest it's probably a worse punishment to be in jail forever, but sometimes it's in the interests of the victims to just say fuck this guy and be done with him when he/she is so blatantly and unequivocally guilty of something heinous. I know it sounds quixotic, but it would genuinely be better for the people healing who have suffered from the crime to know the perpetrator no longer exists. Those are my thoughts, anyway.
