what kind of screw driver is it you used in the video to unscrew the fan? I thought it's a t5 but I couldn't undo the middle 3 having tried a few different ones. thank u so much
Helped me out a lot when changing the thermal paste on mine haha. Thank god you dropped the video just 10 days ago haha. One little question tho. What are normal idle temps? Because mine sits at 45C without the fans spinning but I’m using Throttle stop and disabled the turboing.
For RAM, it comes with 8GB DDR4-2400 built into the motherboard, with an empty slot to add an additional 8GB, so this one in the video is already upgraded to be 16GB (one 8GB stick built in, and one additional 8GB stick that was pointed out in the video). Not sure why they did it that way, because it means 16GB is basically the max, but that's why there's only one slot that you can find.
Stephen, I have the 16gb model from Best Buy. Does this mean it’s 8gb soldered, and 8gb the slot (total 16). If this is correct, could I swap the card for a 16gb, and max out at 24gb? (8gb soldered, 16gb card)? Would performance increase noticeably? I’m thinking of increasing ram, ssd to 1tb or 2, and replacing the battery (battery life drains quick).
@@EricVentures If it has an 8gb soldered in, it's not generally recommended to mix and match with an 8+16 setup. You might be able to get away with it, but ot could cause issues. (What kinds of issues it might cause is beyond my level of understanding, I just know that it isn't typically recommended by people whp know much more about this than I do). If you have a 16gb soldered in with an empty slot, then perfect, just add another 16, but you might just have to undo some screws to find out if it's a single 16gb stick or an 8+8.
@@EricVenturesI replaced my 8gb stick with a 16gb stick and am loving the 24gb. There's no issue with doing this. Idk where the other commenter is getting his info from.
I am having a particularly difficult time removing the wider screws around the fan. They seem to be stuck to the point that I nearly strip them trying to remove them. Would you have any tips on how to remove them?
I cannot find a genuine battery for this model. Can you recommend a battery that you have purchased before and is working as Good as the original? Thanks
it might be the springyness of the wireless also holding it in place i would unscrew the battery pack and move it to the right, then try and unclip the connector
The old lenovo logo is so charming on the motherboard
hahah
Thanks for video, but I'm surprised you didnt even clean the dust from under the fans or check the fans assemblies for any accumulated lint.
cant remember if i did off camera

Temps are fairly high the 6700HQ and newer all run very hot
Disabling turbo boost sure does help reduce temps

no sure sorry
It is a big chip under gpu, without thermal past or thermal pad in my case. This is normal? At right side of cpu
GPU is between fans
Chip without anything on it is Chipset
Other Chip (bottom Left) with thermal paste is CPU

no sorry I don't have a recommendation
I wish you had taken some benchmarks before and after repasting ;)
I cant remove the battery connector thingy. It feels like it has been glued, and I don't want to rip it. What can I do?

@@rickstechrepairs Thanks a lot man! :) I managed to disconnect!
Great!
Nice 👍👍👍 thanks for the tutorial 🔥🔥🔥🔥

No, can't change CPU
u are cool
Cheers
