  • In this video I transform an old used and abused putter into something you'd be proud to put in the bag. Copper insert, textured sole, bead blast finish, paint fill, logo removal, and a new grip.

    I have an exact project like this for a TM Spider. Question about the paint remover and muratic acid... I noticed you didn't use the paint remover all over the body. Does the muratic acid do the same job? 🤔 (learning)

      Muriatic acid removes PVD finish. The paint stripper was for the paint fill. Check out my golf channel to learn more stuff if you'd like youtube.com/@deusgolfco?si=Q78R5VNKmNYsdLSL

    Love this, and next time for an even softer feel you could try caulk like Scotty’s teryllium putter rather than epoxy and white paint. Could’ve just finished it in one step vs two, too!

    This must reduce the overall weight of the putter head by a significant amount of weight. Does the weight of the copper compensate for the loss of weight due to grinding?

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  10 місяців тому

      Slightly loses some weight and yes, the copper definitely compensates for that loss.

    What wheel did you use to get the dings out?

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  Місяць тому

      I believe they're called a deburring wheel. I don't use them anymore, although. I use skotchbrite on my belt sander. The deburring wheel works just fine, though. Amazon has em for relatively cheap.

    I’m working on a Scotty Cameron TE I3 right now. I think the body is made of carbon steel, and has a black oxide finish. I want to remove the finish it has now so I can torch finish it, but I’m not sure how to remove the finish. Would a muriatic acid bath work for this?

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  Місяць тому

      I don't think the muriatic acid will work for that. It's an oxide layer, so you would remove it like you would rust. Bead blast is how I remove it.

    I can't imagine what the original one looked like before your work, by the way, have you done any special treatment in order to prevent the copper plate from changing its color?

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  10 місяців тому

      No coating on the copper. It will get a patina eventually, but can be brushed off easily with skotch brite

    Great video, definitely subscribing. Was your muriatic acid diluted at all? I was wondering if it will attack the substrate ,steel or stainless steel?

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  Рік тому

      I did not dilute the acid. I basically just observed the putter head until it looked like the PVD finish would come off easily. I've never had an issue with damaging the steel. I always neutralize by dipping the head into water/baking soda after the acid.
      Thank you for the comment!

    • @kramerdesignco
      @kramerdesignco  Рік тому

      Unsure of the plating on this specific wedge. If it is PVD, you can dissolve this off with muriatic acid. If it has been plated you will have to strip it. More info here: caswellplating.com/caswell-stripping-kit-5-gal.html
