- (8/2014 and 5/2021) This historic elevator got modded! It is an ok mod but the passing chime is terrible!!

Yikes that’s unfortunate. But at least this vintage cab , the door and the elevator itself is still there and operating excellent. It’s a shame to see the fixtures replaced.
Also the floor passing chime is so super annoying and very loud. In my opinion it should’ve been kept the way it is. Unfortunately no other vintage button for this is around to replace

Yikes! That’s just terrible. And the COP isn’t even in the same spot! They could’ve simply kept the old one and added that one where it is.

This place is no longer a hotel, it is now housing for homeless people. For that reason, I would advise against going here. The Dakota Hotel I am not sure about, I think it is in use as something, but not a hotel anymore.
As far as I know, this was originally a Spencer elevator. I think the winding drum machine was replaced with a traction machine.

Cab stays original! As well as the inner gate and outer doors!
The outer doors were replaced sometime before the mod, probably in the late 90s-early 2000s. The gate was replaced during the mod. But since they're still swing-doors & scissor gates, how it would've been at installation, it still gives the elevator character
It doesn’t feel the same as it originally was though, the COP changes everything for me.

It doesn’t look good at all to me. A modern COP in an old elevator cab looks really tacky.

Such a Shame those Old Fixtures didn't get preserved. This Mod is Generic and is not as good as the Original Elevator, apart from the Rare Square Buttons.

Looks really weird with the I-Line PH surface mounted COP. Innovation is still really good, but maybe they could've consulted them to create a historical type design.

@@DJSpinSter2004 there was a reason that this needed to be modernized. Parts are no longer available for these old elevators.
