- Christ cleanses the temple.
John 2:13-17
13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Christ worked ONLY in righteous dominion. His power was real for it came from above. Like a big brother, he was angered, for the children were doing wrong in the eyes of the Lord. You can see the people running, and the ground rumbling for the Lord is angered that such a holy and sacred place would be used for mere profit and gain. Righteous dominion indeed.

I've heard some athiests attack religion because of this scene in the Bible, saying He overreacted in flipping over the tables. As for me, I can totally see where Christ was coming from. People were selling stuff in HIS house. On top of that, His house is Holy. He had every reason to be upset about it.

Actually Jesus was quoting the Prophet Jeremiah (See Jere. 7:11). The same thing was already taking place in the Old Testament times. So, if God was upset about it in the Old Testament, think how angry Jesus was to live it and see it in Person!

I've reflected this bit in the scriptures a lot because Christ is someone who never judges or hates people. I then figured that there is a difference between hating people and not tolerating their behavior.
I think you're right. He perfectly understood the difference between sin and sinner, and could condemn sins while still loving sinners and trying to bear them up.
Truly the attitude of a father or older brother who comes home and sees what trouble the children have gotten themselves into.
There is a difference between anger and very passionate energy. I don’t think Jesus was angry. If the storm and seas are rough, it doesn’t mean the world is angry. It just is. I don’t think Jesus came from a place of anger but from greater love. It is one way to effectively put your points and Jesus is a teacher. For example, Italian and Jews frequently raise their voices against each other, but they are not always angry.
He's going to judge all after death

When I heard about this narrative as a kid, I was surprised because I never thought Jesus would behave like this. It seemed out-of-character to me. But then I learned that Jesus had righteous anger and while he condemned the money chargers' actions, he did not hate them as a whole.

Jesus was actually angry here but not at the people, but at sin. The sin is they manipulated people to profit for their own self-interest by using His house as a place of thieves, so the problem here is greed. Obviously, we all know that God can only be angry at sin which was shown in Exodus 4:11-14, where Moses was doubting and disobeying God, and He was angry at Moses for disobedience which is a sin for disobeying God.

This is the best cleansing of the temple portrayal I've ever seen. It's a mini masterpiece. The people fleeing something coming behind them like sheep scattering and then when Jesus is about to speak the white sheep run in front of him, just great work. Thanks so much!

I'm NOT a Mormon/LDS. But I'm watching this because today is Holy Monday, which commemorates this event. Who else here is not Mormon/LDS
during this particular incident he stated that his father's house is not to be a house of merchandise. When he had another incident similar later on, he said my house is not a house of merchandise. To God be the glory his Temple is a sacred and holy place and it belongs to Jesus Christ
