Thanks. I just got a new front driveshaft for my 2002 E320 4Matic wagon. $300 and I spoke the a very knowledgeable salesman/tech before buying. Free 5 day shipping from Calif. Gonna do the same replacement. I'll make sure I have the correct bolts. I'm hoping I can slip it past the O2 sensor and the bracket also. I'll let you know how it goes. I subscribed.
Just had mine fail this morning, exact same car, color and model...was like looking at my car while watching your video. The u-joint broke for the front shaft at the transfer case. Wasn't sure at first, thought I broke the front diff but was relieved once it was on the rollback to see it was the shaft and not too serious. Doesn't appear to had done any damage to the O2 sensor flopping around while I got off the road. What a bummer. I'm seeing these shafts online now in the $160-$220 range.
Can a bad u-joint have any impact on vehicle handling? I'm having an intermittent clanking over bumps and also an occasional scraping noise when I accelerate. I am wondering if my u-joint is causing this.
Good info. Thanks! What is the rubber boot directly behind the joint? Daughers 2000 w202 C280 boot tore and was flapping like mad. Removed it and a small u-joint inside. A year later we have a buzzing, grinding playing card in bike spokes sound, rotational, pitches up/down with speed. What do you suspect? U-joint or support bearing or both?
Can you provide details on how this part has worked for 2 years? I am doing the same repair now. Also any more info on where to get part? No mention at end of the manufacture in Quebec and the Ebay store appears to no longer be operation.
Does the drive shaft spin when the 4matic is in park? I just changed motor and transmission mount and conductor plate but still feel vibration under the car even when car is in park
@@Spidepig09 Vibrations at higher speeds and play in the u joint but if your car has higher mileage and you plan on keeping it, I would just change it as preventive maintenance.

I believe you could've pressed out the old joint and pressed in a new one

Did you change or fix your issue with your 4matic?mines doing the same thing
I never fixed it the vibration got worse so I sold the car good luck because Benz are nothing but money pits

I regret not chaning mine before it put a hole in my transmission lol. At least I got 400k out of it and used transmission only costed me 700$
