- • The annual International Conference on Computational Social Science, hosted by the Kellogg School of Management in 2016, convenes interdisciplinary researchers to discover, discuss, and collaborate at the intersection of data science and social science. This global event hosts academics, industry leaders, activists and government officials alike to showcase new data science techniques and new business models.
IC2S2 attendees have the opportunity to: apply advanced quantitative methods to diverse disciplines; access new research on social datasets and networks; and understand the challenges of applying complex computational methods to social science questions. With introduction by Kellogg Professor Brian Uzzi, this video is a small sample of what IC2S2 attendees experience during this multi-day event.

It's the opposite really. Many sociologists believe that the way computer and data scientists do "science" is-illinformed and guided by bad research practice.
E.g. the field is relatively young and people just mine data without a theory and find correlations instead of causal relationships.
Also, the way people ignore that big data from the internet is not representative is criticized in sociology.
I think it's great that the social sciences use these new methods and I also think that employing new research methods takes alot of time and theoretical considerations.

computation and "social science" is an oxymoron. In fact, SCIENCE and social are oxymorons. In social "science" you just make stuff up and then cherry pick data to support your agenda. It is purely a subjective area.
Social Science require the scientific method inorder to do research making ot a science. You have be brain washed to even think that.
