I do a bad job of remembering to mention it while I'm recording, but I have a newsletter! Each Friday you'll get example problems to accompany the content of each week's videos shop.riffomonas.org/youtube
Ive missed several episodes! thank you for sharing all this information, I love watching this in any spare moment I get, will continúe to catch up with the blog posts and the newsletter
This was so helpful! Both the visual and audio explanation was very clear. I wonder if you know of any packages or have any videos on adding custom fonts to something other than graphs? For example, the headers and body text in R markdown. It'd be so helpful! But this was already great!!
Hi Lotte - Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found it helpful. I don't know of videos teaching how to modify appearance of fonts in Rmarkdown documents. If you're producing html documents you can always use HTML/CSS to format the text, for a docx output file you can use a template document, and for a PDF you can insert LaTeX formatting. Admittedly each of those is a lot to learn! I always end up doing a lot of googling for help
Thank you so much for the video. It was really helpful! I'm having trouble using the font "Quattrocento". I've already installed it in my computer but RStudio wouldn't detect it when I run font_files(). It's like it wasn't there. Would yo give me any idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.
Can you see it when you’re in another program like word? Maybe try reinstalling it or see if you can get another font installed. Could you get Montserrat installed?
@@Riffomonas Thanks for your reply! I've been using the font Quattrocento for a while in Word, Excel, LaTeX and Inkscape with no problem at all. I just tried with Montserrat and the thing is that, apparently all the fonts I install go to a different location than the system default ones: - Default fonts: C:/Windows/Fonts/ - Installed fonts: C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Fonts/ When I run font_import() the installed fonts don't even appear, but the error "No FontName. Skipping." message appears for all other fonts, as if the program wouldn't detect them. I've already tried this solution I found on the internet, claiming that it's a problem with ttf2pt1, but it didn't work for me: library(extrafont) library(remotes) remotes::install_version("Rttf2pt1", version = "1.3.8") extrafont::font_import()
Hey Reddy - thanks for watching! You might look back at my earlier videos where I talk about R markdown. I think I touch on that there. I know I talk about changing fonts as a strategy to help with editing
7th grade keyboarding was probably the most worthwhile class I took in Junior High. We used manual typewriters and toward the end of the quarter we used some fancy "word processors". Ahhhh, the late 80s were wonderful

@@Casensio17 sorry, but i'm really not sure what to suggest
@@Riffomonas no worries! Thanks so much for your answers :)
Hi, could you please show how to use fonts family and font size in Rmarkdown with PDF output? Many thanks.
