Definitely a unique product which has pros and cons. All depends what your using it for. Gaming is low on the list at 60hz. Programming seems #1 to me due to the width vs using a vertical screen. Having additional options is never a bad thing for the consumer.
yeah, i'm actively in search of what to upgrade my 32" 4k to, and I would not recommend this for programming, resolution is too low regretably, any text work will suffer IMO. if this was like 2*4k 27" this would be so cool.
It is not design for gaming, I don't think anyone will buy this monitor for gaming purpose. Beside programming, it is good for CAD, photo editing and video editing as well. Now I have dual monitors, one in vertical, one in horizontal. When I edit portrait photo/video, I use the vertical monitor. When I edit horizontal photo/video, I use the horizontal monitor. So when I view a batch of photos I have to keep switching monitor, which is very inconvenience. If I can find one, I prefer a 32" square monitor.
This is now in my to-buy list. 16:18 aspect ratio means two landscape 16:9 monitor in portrait. That is something I've been dreaming for years! Thank you for making this happen, LG. This is why I'm still rooting for you despite being no longer in the smartphone market.

This LG DualUp Monitor is too small to replace my dual monitors set up (24" + 27"). If you divided the 28MQ780 into half, it is just similar to two 20" monitors. LG should release a bigger version such as 32". Also I don't need the Ergo stand or speaker, just put 100x100 VESA mount holes on the back, I have already installed long monitor arms on my desk. Also US$700 are just too expensive for a 28" 60Hz 300cd/m2 monitor. Nowadays, we can buy a 55" OLED TV from Xiaomi at US$700.
I have two; one either side of an LG 42 inch OLED TV. Amazing monitors with a unique look. The arm is amazing and so easy to set up and it just works. Also great they have USB C as well as the usual HDMI option. Perfect for emails, Slack and especially spreadsheets. Highly recommended. Not for children who want to game but perfect for people who work.
LG products are something else...! I am watching this with my LG monitor which was bought in 2014. 8 years running and still good as new, didn't face any problem....
If I read correctly they are 21” 1440p each, too small for an IDE IMO. Could be a nice second monitor for references and running what you are coding though.
@@cyrfung nah, the orientation makes it pretty ideal, but not for multi tasking. Its best as a secondary monitor dedicated for type code/scripts/research etc.

This might be my next monitor purchase. I had to use an old dell 3:2 monitor since my usual monitors crapped out on me. It was great editing videos in adobe premiere and working on code for websites. It also looks better than a widescreen monitor in portrait rotation.

chrome had multitask mode, which allows to use 2 mice at the same time, 10 years ago but in 1st april. you will need same feature to use this monitor efficiency.

The only thing I’m missing for video editors is that you usually want to view pixels natively which means either 1080p or 2160p for editing, grading as well as postproduction in full-screen viewing which is probably the only reason I sadly can’t buy it, as it's 1440p. Also, a LUT Input for the top screen would be delicious for color grading via an output card with HDMI! Hope this concept moves forward!
My current issue with the Samsung G9 is that it functions as one monitor, so you cannot play games in "fullscreen" (despite black bars) and also display other programs. I hope this solves that and a horizontal variant comes soon.
And when is it available? I could need some of them. Sadly I do not find it anywhere - no idea aboug price, no idea about delivery dates. Would love 3 to 5 for my desk.
