  • Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack by Kawai Sprite and artwork by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r. This game is drawn and animated in a manner that nostalgically encapsulates Newgrounds' Flash animations with an art style inspired by graffiti street art. The game features multiple weeks where the player is confronted with various opponents with multiple songs.

alright, so im going to be real for just a second.
over the past 2 years the community for FNF has changed drastically. the moding scene and how people even view the game as a whole has been shaped by the mods that people have made. and to be honest, most of the events havent really been the best. the controversy and drama has shifted how alot of people view fnf's fandom, and has even stired creators to leave entirely.
I've stuck with this community since its infincy back in march 2021, and in that time i've seen tons of mods come and go. but in spite of all the backlash, negitivity, and turmoil the community endured, i still have faith in this fandom. sure there are the dramas, and mod cancelation, and some of the more questionable creators, and all of the bad toxic stuff thats built up. but more then anything else, i feel like these aspects are given far more attention then they deserve.
for every questionable creator, for every toxic fan, there are people who are genuine. people who have passion and ambition. people who actually GIVE A CRAP about the things they want to make. and from those talented, gifted people emerge wonderfully creative and memorable mods. mods that continue to blow me away with their presentation, music and overall asthetic. FNF at its core is a celebration of newgrounds, and the wonderfull creations that were born there. so shouldnt it make sense that the Fanbase for such a game also contain the same talent and investment?
im not going to pretend that none of the shit in the community never occured. Amor is still a rather untrustable guy, the team behind vs sonic.exe was overworked into oblivion, and the echos of the baddies and Sky chaos still reverberate even today. but I am not going to simply sideline all the hard working people who work their asses off to share something they love with the world. like it or not, bad stuff happens. people are assholes. but not everyone is an asshole.
the fanbase is NOT as messy as everyone thinks, and i'll bet you a hundred bucks that in a years time, when all the cringy tik tok robloxers have moved on to the next big fad game, the people that stick behind will be dedicated, and willing to put in the effort to make something enjoyable. i didnt get into FNF because of all the bullshit that happens on twitter, i got into it because the game is fun, the music is catchy, and the visuals are engaging
so in short..all the stigma that the community has, will not stick around forever. hell its even starting disappear now. there will always be people who care about what the games potential truly is. you just have to wait for a little bit.
