The story behind that song is pretty sad. They released it as a single a few days before they publicly announced that their dad had died. They said on social media that he was sick a month or two prior, but gave no other information until they released the song out of the blue with no warning or teasers, unlike other songs from their upcoming album, leading everyone to assume the worst, which was confirmed a few days later.
I heard they intended to release it before their father passed, but because of production stuff it was a little late. It was their way of trying to put feelings into words and help cope with it. A very relatable song and truly heartbreaking.
I relate to this song as I have lost my mom and my wife's mom the same way " mom can't get out of bed" because of cancer and pain. This is a really heavy message and I probably won't listen to this song much as it does hit too close to the heart. I just had to check it out because of the title. AND, BTW, I was so happy to hear you say you are a Christian, as I am as well, Brother. God bless you in all you do. !!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad last year - he was bedridden due to a number of ailments including lung problems, and the first time I heard this song it absolutely destroyed me. It hits way too close to home.
Wow. Just wow. Lots of emotions and grappling with the hardest life issues in those lyrics. With them being brothers, it hits even harder. This happened this past July 2023. They released this song shortly after he passed away. What a creative way to show the impact of the experience without being on camera. The written word is powerful. I pray God met them in that moment.
Please do their other new tracks, The Dumb Song and Yes I'm a Mess, both of which are a bit more happy than this track. Awesome video though man, glad you're back to reactions!
As you and others have said, it certainly is a heavy song. I like your point about their juxtaposition of that with the cheerful tone of music, and it certainly is a trend in a lot of their sadder songs, which is very cool. Also, they often break down the song production on their youtube channel so if you were interested you could see if they have one for this song. Nice reaction Jacob!
It's not cancer though . . . it said "something in his Lungs", which made me shiver a little. Still, you may be right about a possibility of a Lung Cancer . . . sorry.
This isn't true, their father passed away about 15 hours after this song released due to lung cancer, he was suffering with it for a year@@JacobRestituto
R.I.P. Gary, your boys have made it. Gone but never forgotten ❤

I find it crazy how different in meaning
"I'll sing it for you dad, when you get out of bed" Is to
"I'll sing for you when you're out of bed"
Oh god. I never made this connection until now, but...
Gary's not in bed anymore.
And they still sing for him.

I really wanna watch him react to Maybe Man the official video that song made me cry, but i love it so much
They didn’t use the playful style as it was a song for their dad

💔
They later confirmed it was cancer in an interview with Zack
this song came out just before my dad had brain surgery and right now he is going through cancer treatment
