This is the problem with our political system. Politics take the voters for granted and when the voters raise concerns or vote in a different way, there’s an uproar as to how can this happen…. Independent, reform, green etc are all symptoms of the same cause. Politics that doesn’t work for the average person.
Ashworth is a repulsive sooge . He now has a plum job planning for the election in 5 years- despite losing about Labour's safedt seat. He was horribly smug and representsvthe rottenness of the Starmer party.
The thing is though its isn't just him, a number of Labour candidates who lost their seats, or nearly did so, reacted as if they had a right to win and if the voters didn't agree that's just bad voters, very anti-democratic. There is a very anti-democratic attitude among certain politicians in the Labour Party, that is quite scary. The Tories can get a bit like this but they just tend to quietly retreat to spend more time with their money and various lucrative directorship sinecures.
I campaigned with Leanne Mohamad in Ilford. She only lost by 500 - with over 15,000 votes. I’d love to see Shockat sit down with her to explore actions and ideas to take this movement forward
Also Jess Phillips majority was decimated from 10,600+ to just over 700 Brilliant result from Jody McIntyre and he is now setting up community outreach in the constituency

Exactly. I used to live in Hunt's constituency, there was a massive disconnect between his words locally and his actins in parliament. I had to tell people on local groups several times not to listen to his words but to review his record and the same should apply to every MP.

Exactly. I used to live in Hunt's constituency, there was a massive disconnect between his words locally and his actins in parliament. I had to tell people on local groups several times not to listen to his words but to review his record and the same should apply to every MP.

Brilliant interview. He has such integrity - almost gives you hope! We cannot underestimate the significance of this disruption to the 2-party monoploy. It is all up for grabs and we have shown that we can organise to create the change we want to see.

Why independent and not Green? In the party she can only increase her chances of re-election. Fighting as an independent, she and the Greens would split the progressive vote. Everyone seems to be waiting for some brand new party to emerge, but there are the Greens sitting readymade and waiting.
