1) OS Level
a) Go to Kernel Directory in Command Prompt Drive: \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64
b) Execute disp+work.exe or disp+work.exe -v (All Details)
2) Application Level (GUI)
a) T-Code SM51
b) Click on Release Notes
3) Application Level (GUI)
a) SAP Home Screen
b) Click on System Tab
c) Status
d) Bottom Left/Right Side “Arrow Icon”

2) Extract with sapcar (Download here - bit.ly/2kIhodl)
3) Backup your Existing Kernel Source for Recovery
4) Stop All SAP App Services except DB
5) Replace All Extracted file folder with New One
6) Start All Stopped SAP Services
7) Check Version
8) Done
6) What are EXT Kernels?
--------------------------------
All SAP kernels are built on a specific version of the operating system and compiler. When the operating system and compiler for a particular platform reach the end of support, SAP will make a newer kernel with a newer version of the operating system and compiler called the EXT kernel.
