It's Costochondritis. Basically, an inflamed rib cage. Take the prescribed painkiller. You may not take an anti-inflammatory. In few weeks time, costochondritis, goes away. Apply some hot compress. Look after yourself now and hope you feel better soon xx

Ohhh St Luke’s fast. If you go to other hospital it will take you 5 to 6 hrs in emergency room. I also thought the bill will be higher, so the is very reasonable.

Saint Luke started in USA so most of the countries all over the world have Saint Luke hospital, schools. In Japan if u can't speak Japanese go to saint Luke hospital .

I think you should get an International Medical Insurance or World Wide Heatlth/ Accident Insurance or Travel Insurance, whatever you call it. Atleast you'll not get bill shock when unfortuante things happen, knock on wood. It's a necessity for travelers like you, who can be prone to accidents, etc. Most especially you're in a foreign land.

So glad to hear you are fine Merghim. The pain is caused by trauma (your motor accident). It is alarming cuz of the chest pain especially when you are coughing or breathing. Take the non inflammatory pain medication as needed as prescribed by your doctor. Take care. God bless. You are loved.
Hey, good to hear and know that your results are good, Mergim. Thank God it was severe, but maybe just trauma or inflammation or what not, but nothing serious. St. Luke's Hospital is know to be one of the known best hospitals here in Manila, in line along with Makati Medical Hospital, but both pricey for common Filipinos to go to. Yet, you can always be rest assured that you going to be in good hands with good and best doctors, surgeons, and specialists, and equipment there. Recuperate and continue to get well, Mergim.

I had one at the Philippine Orthopedic Society clinic in Makati, (near Makati Medical) when I fell down back at Waltermart Makati when I step on an uneven portion of the sidewalk. Good thing there was nothing serious except that the x-rays showed my existing back condition - scoliosis. I was given a pain reliever good for 3 days and also took a sick leave from office to rest my painful back.

You need to consider renting a car, Mergim, if you’re going to do the Philippine Loop again. Relatively safe, weather-proof, though the trip is not that immersive as you get when riding a motorbike.

Fees in Emergency room or being accommodated in such is more expensive compared to asking for a Walk-in Doctor's [Appointment] in a clinic, based in the same building. Usually they (the concierge, i think) will suggest you a doctor with a specialty to your case, then they'll give you the unit number of the clinic of the doctor. Basing it to my experience in TMC though.
You informed the lady that it wasn't really an emergency but she still directed you there. Wished she presented you a cheaper option. Seems like the lady you've asked was a nurse/ staff in the ER 😅
I was also going to comment about this. The correct process should have been the hospital staff presented the patient with below options:
1. If non-urgent, schedule an appointment for a consultation with a doctor. This would only cost the doctor’s professional fee as well as any laboratory fees requested by the doctor.
2. If urgent and/ or patient would like to be seen immediately, direct him/her to the ER station. However, aside from higher consultation fees, there would be additional ER fees plus the cost of laboratory fees requested by the doctor.
So tip to all, always ask the concierge for a doctor’s consultation if your condition is non-urgent.
that sounds about right but a fully equipt emergency room visit still gives you the best care specially for post vehicular accident and here in the US we pay around $500 copay per ER visit with insurance and without insurance it could be over $2500. So the $100 ER visit in St Lukes is still way cheaper.
@@haemose30 Exactly, I commented the same too before reading your comment, Merghim's bill was very cheap. Considering St. Luke's is one of the elites' hospitals in pinas. Here in North Carolina, whenever I visit my doctor despite having BlueCross BluShield insurance, I still get billed US$200++ excluding lab works. I remember when I used to live in Georgia, the orthopedic doctor's consultation I paid $500, then MRI U$800.00 after insurance paid their part.
His travel insurance should cover the fee.
And the doctor's fee is way too high! 😧

Here in our city hospital, they will consider you to visit orthopedic specialist. Good to see you’re ok now. Eventually, you may plan your trips having a car for more safety coz hospital in provinces lack modern facilities some ended up their lives. Other vloggers become poor and with disability. Always keep the faith, pray and God will always provide.

I have had standing x-ray in Sydney Australia.. i would go to a physiotherapist which may use heat theraphy or tape to help heal the area.
On your next visit to any hospital, you can go directly to OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT for follow up check

Urget medical attention go to E. R there is a physician , you dont have to wait longer for the doctor to arrive. they will do laboratory test, xray.etc. and you will get results on the same day.

Wise move mergim, that'a top notch hospital, good doctors too but only people with money can afford that place, the original st. Lukes is in quezon city, youll be fine.
Obviously, money is not an issue. The guy lives in BGC… people living there have no problem with money.
Analgesics (nsaid) also reduce Inflammation.. Be sure to take it with food... You could also try Reparil spray on the affected areas..

The total charge night be cheaper compared to US or UK but you can actually save more and have paid around half of that if you had not passed the emergency room but may take more of your time. 😊
Thanks for the video. Very interesting. That was very cheap considering an emergency consultation with multiple X-ray views and meeting with a physician. In the US that would cost more than a thousand dollars and you would have to wait more than 6 hours. You most probably just have muscular bruising and tearing, no bone fractures. Any Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) for a day or two should be good. Thanks again.

I was expecting he will be charged more since it is St. Luke's and he is a foreigner, but it turns out it is just about a little over US$100.00 which is cheap. if you do consultation, xray etc, here in the USA, it will cost you almost US$1k, considering no insurance plan. Whenever I go for consultation, or annual check up in North Carolina, despite having insurance plan, doctor's visit cost me $200++, excluding lab works. Terrible medical here in the US.
That consultation and scan would have cost you upwards of $3K to 4K in the US. $110 is affordable there, considering it's also the top hospital there.
you be fine... better to be safe than sorry!! when i had my stroke .. in 2020 it cost a bit more then 6k lol ... cannot get this one on NHS in PH, I had multiple scans and had to stay in hospital twice for at least a week .. felt like a pin cussion .. all ok now thank god .. hospitals make me cringe lol

1:27 1:27 The room is excellent, staff amd nurses nd sila approachable at cheerful sa ginagawa mila. Sa connection it took 3 hrs to get in lalo na ung time na immunostaining ni mother, ung sec. Ng onco ni mother nd rin basta makunan ng info. Limited ung details nya kapag may gusto ka malaman ang tagal din mag reply. 2 months na confine si mother ang madami sa kanila test ct scan, ultrasound, pet scan, x ray, ung immunostaining ni mother, 2d eco , may central line sya sa leeg tappos tuturok din pala sa braso, ung pigtail nya na eventually naging dalawa na, mri may time pa sa sobra dami ng test sasagot pa ang onco na" we dont know," sa dami ng test nd nila treat ung naging sakit ni mother nd nila natumbok sa loob ng 2 months. Ung ang gaganda ng findings ng test lab ni inay in the end patay din 2 months false hope lng pala lahat. Wala silang sense of ergency. May time pa na sinisisi ka pa nung resident doctor but they know better. Sa lahat ng trouble ni inay ung false hope, ung pain, ung worry ni father during the whole 2 months stay namin sa billing at comfort lng sila nag excel
