RIP Norman Hunter
RIP Trevor Cherry
... From a West Ham United supporter.
I'm still devastated. I was blessed to see that great Leeds team & lucky to meet Norman, smashing bloke. Those blokes made Leeds United. God bless you Norman, thanks for the memories. MOT
Norman was a great player and ambassador for the club.True gent......
Stay safe Eddie
First match I saw as a kid at Molineux was Wolves v Leeds...an absolute classic fixture, back in the day...and soon to be revived, I'm delighted to see. Norman Hunter was a proper enforcer; a tough man; hard as nails, but he could play, too. They don't make them like that anymore, and it was a privilege to see him in action. Norman always came across as a proper gent and humble, very down to earth fellah though - quite the opposite to the Man Mountain he was on the pitch. Wolves superstar striker of that era, King John Richards, has paid his tributes to Norman, which I reproduce below:
Former Wolves striker John Richards had numerous battles with Hunter.
“I played against him quite a few times and was in the same England squad as him in ‘73,” he said.
“We met under Alf Ramsey and it was a total contrast off the field to on it. He was quiet, friendly and gentle off the pitch. A gentleman. But when he was on the pitch, he was tenacious, to say the least.
“To his credit, though, he was a genuine player. He was very honest. He would hit you hard, but hit you fairly.
“Him and Jack Charlton were quite a formidable pair, probably the toughest me and Derek Dougan faced. Norman and big Jack were as good as anybody.
“It’s very sad to lose him as it brings back a lot of memories. Good memories, and such a good player.”
Rest in peace, Norman 'Bites Yer Legs' Hunter. It's a very sad loss, but your name is forever written in lights. Much respect and admiration to you, Norm, from this Wolves fan of 50+ years. Condolences to your family, friends, Leeds Utd FC and all Leeds supporters that saw the great man play. So sorry to hear this news...all the best, guys.
Lovely comment mate, well said. I commented on the Paddy Power interview with John Giles paying tribute that there's a noticeable amount of non Leeds fans eulogising NH and rightly so. A great player in a side maligned as dirty (everyone was in those days - had to be to compete!) but in reality was actually years ahead of its time.
Cheers fella. One of the greats Norman Hunter. 👍
nice words mate.
Thanks very much from a Leeds United fan since 1964/65.
The only player whose testimonial I attended! Great player and man.
Norman Hunter is my best friends grandad. I knew him very well. It was very sad when he passed. RIP Norman ❤️
RIP Norman and Trevor, thanks for your loyalty and service to the club. Stay safe everyone and let's hope we can get back to the premier division
As a tribute to that great Leeds team.
we Malaysian Leeds fans will miss you forever Norman .... also Trevor Cherry.

Make sure you stay safe Eddie, Big Norm will always be remembered .
I have a lot of respect for the words you have spoken about Norman. It takes a man of strength to represent and speak during a bereavement. The bite your legs worked in intimidating but fed into the dirty Leeds myth. Like Billy Norman was an honourable mam who despised cheating and also wouldn't let people walk all over him. Often tarnished with the same brush as chopper. Two very different players and characters.
Well said Eddie
RIP Norman Hunter. The last of the tough men of football.
A legend amongst legends Norman was. While I'm here how did you score that goal against Burnley, I was only watching and you sent me inside out.
Absolutely brilliant ❤️
Sadley Jack carlton died since this video now him and norman are kicking a ball together getting shouted at by don revie three greats
you missed Trevor Cherry, sad times.
A great tribute from Eddie Gray who managed Leeds and then saved Rochdale from relegation from the second division .Norman was a legend at Leeds and will be sadly missed by everybody at Leeds . Let hope promotion comes this season that would great for the club and for memory of bite your legs Norman Hunter. RIP NORMAN !
Legend
Which knobhead gave this the thumbs down ? Disgusting
Listen Boys Norman was a hero to me so I want a tattoo with his name and number 5 underneath I realise he played all over but would 5 be correct?
If someone as tough as Norman still died from Covid-19, then we must take it seriously and not whined about stuck at home and wanted to go out now (unless necessary).
