I really miss the old WPS-3016 sirens where I live. Every school I attended either had a 3016 on campus, or one within a mile. The 3016’s here have all been replaced by smaller units, which is sad. The new units aren’t nearly as loud, plus those 3016’s really had a bone chilling sound, the way I’ve heard them. They’re loud, and they always got the attention of everyone in the area. Really wish Whelen didn’t phase them out, definitely one of the best sirens there ever was.
In frisco, texas where I live, you are not aloud to test on a cloudy or rainy day. becuase sometimes you don't here the rest announcement from inside, so people might think there is a actual tornado.
I think, the main reason is, that this video contains siren sound DTMF and voice, all in one. As for video, it's perfect too. Fixed frame and siren and gray sky on the background.
+BOB!theGMObanana No, if your on live voice and send the command while it's on live voice, it will be played out loud, or unless it's part of a recording.
+mike ray All of the Whelen sirens used to have ESC-864 controls but over the last 3-5 years Franklin EMA upgraded to the 560hz controls. I have no idea what the number model is, but I do know it IS Whelen's most recent controller model.
oddly living in Florida now after 32 years in Grove City,I miss that sound at noon on Wednesday. Then again I just lived through hurricane Irma in southern Florida so I'm not so sure lol
My question since i live in good ol' Grovetucky, Oh as well is...does the state of Ohio still follow the alert/attack tones for warnings cause all i ever here during testing is the long alert wale never the short attack wales?
+Ivan Arnold To be 100% honest, I don't know. They always sound the siren for 20 seconds, rest them for 40, then sound them for 20 again, and I can't tell a difference between the tones.
spidunno exactly. They’re designed to play tones that aren’t normal or common, so it gets your attention. Although here in Iowa, it’s hit or miss. We get siren activations due to tornado warnings multiple times a year, but people become numb to it. I really wish they’d randomize the tones, like not change the sound, but somehow make it unique and different when the sirens are activated for a true danger situation.
You're wrong! It is a test. Every first wed. of each month, they conduct a voice test. The DTMF tones happen on our whole system. Practically all Whelens do it!
Caleb gagnon Actually, I filmed this siren, I know for a fact that this WAS a test, and besides, the weather in the video would have been a lot worse if it was a real tornado. Don't say something stupid because you were too lazy to read the video description.

Ohio really loves their Whelens :)
Of all of my siren videos, why is this one so popular?!
Idk I like it to

Probably because this might be the only WPS-3016 with the 560 Hz tone?
EmeraldLucario nah there’s other 3016 videos with the 560hz controller
@@Fifthcell Really? This is the only one I know of
Kieran Holdren The beeping sound is a DTMF tone. It's a string of numbers that tells the siren what to do.
Are you supposed to hear them? They are usually not audible to residents of the area...
+Fifthcell if the siren is an amplified speaker then it is possible for the tones to be broadcast over the voice system

Do you hear the chime?
You are safe.
The storm has passed over.

I wish I knew, but thanks for the info, I like the way it sounds, almost like a seabrook whelen wps 4008
Sound card update?
Esc-2030

That sound at 240 is sooooo awesome. what is that?! someone should make a compilation of that *hint*
Michael Jackson it’s called DTMF and from what I heard Spencer Harman was working on a mixtape of it.

Ivan Arnold yes ohio does that
Why do Tornado Siren's scare me?
I'm so scared by the sound D:
The ones in Chicago are REALLY scary!
:D
AppleAJ I love the sound
My favorite electric sirens are the analog whelens because they sound less eerie

Gee, almost 5K views! I can't believe how popular this video is.
I will be taking video recording requests. Post any recording requests on my discussion page!
Damn! OUCH! Effective!!!!
Oh, NOW I hear it. Well, onto the thing I want to mainly talk about. That's a little taller than a Whelen Vortex R4.
What's that beeping sound between the voice and the other beeping sounds
Testing, siren testing!!!
What type of controller does this siren have? It doesn't sound like an esc-864 or the new 560 Htz tone
Just a question... Does it spin to make the noise go in all directions?
This thing sounds like it's vomiting dial tones.
Was there during the test today and they didn't use voice! I feel left out!
Is that voice live?
Yes. Unfortunately Franklin county no longer does the voice.
Lol the dial tone it's funny XD😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
tornado siren test tornado komt
Press 6 repeatedly for a tornado siren twerking
Where Is This Siren Located?

A whelen 3016 running on 560hz
I'm so scared 😳 of the 🚨😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😪😪😪😪😪😪😓😓😓😓😭😭😭😭😭😿😿😿
From the backround looks i don't think that's a test and what up with all those DTMF tones.
You're wrong! It is a test. Every first wed. of each month, they conduct a voice test. The DTMF tones happen on our whole system. Practically all Whelens do it!
But, I didn't hear any beeping.
its just like the FPL siren

It was obviously a test. Why would someone film a siren during a real tornado? Common sense, people!
This is by far the worst sounding siren I have heard yet.
