This is incredible! I could paddle through the break water with one of these ! How much wind is needed ! Min wind speed ? Will it be for sale cheaper than a normal 3m wing ?
I bet this could be made with self inflating channels like a foil kite to give it a more aerodynamically efficient shape and better dynamic stability. Love it.
Side question, JD, if you don't mind. Do you have a strong opinion regarding GO 3 memory size - 64 gig versus 128? You inspired me to purchase this cam and I just received the 64 version not realizing they also have a 128 gig version. Is 64 enough for on-water shooting or should i return for 128?
I always go for the largest memory with the Go cameras since they are not that much more expensive. The operating system takes up space and I shoot freeform only so large file sizes. I usually always export at the end of the day but it's nice to have extra space if I don't get around to it without having to transfer the raw files to make room.
thats where it all started, the first Pocket wing was a 3m Sensei from prokite in Texas. I added the "c" and "d" bridle positions to the kite and put it on handles with no lines, it actually works well and goes upwind better then the V1 Pocket wing but the trade off with the two skins is it is not really stowable on the fly.
@@kitingincayman For someone interested in using it for downwinding but mainly to get out to a channel and back in through areas swell isn't present then use paddle in the channel. Any suggestions on applicability and sizing? Can it go upwind even, a beam reach? Since it is paddle setup it would be a regular DW board and relatively large foil.
@@JoshWiden the fun starts at about 20 MPH with a baracuda style board and a big foil, Yes can easly do a beam reach, makes it easy to get out to the good bumps and then back in after a run. i would start with the large 4.2 if in a light wind area
@@kitingincayman Thanks for the info, in SF Bay area which has decent wind but may be considered light by Maui standards. So 20mph would be considered a reasonable minimum to get onto foil with 4.3m, barracuda board and large foil?
I reckon you could improve this. Change to just one longer bar, maybe increase the line lengths to help control the wing better, and probably use a harness, and you’ve got it cracked. Airs could be awesome. That being said, you probably want to add some safety features, like a quick release. Oh, and imagine if you could depower the wing whenever you didn’t need it to pull you, so you don’t need to pack it away on down wind sections. Could be a great light wind option. Sure, it means you’d need to launch the wing on the beach, away from trees or rocks. But it could work. New sport!
@@JDFollowCam and that is what she said 😅.. im kidding my dude.. it works offcourse.. a bigger kite would be more work.. guessing its a battle of arm VS wind at the end
This one was worth the price of admission. Great skills by Rider and excellent POV. Incentive to try at my Home spot now.
For a downwind im hype about trading a paddle against a pocket wing !
Great footage. Nice team work. I know both side is not easy
How did the camera follow you??
I'm following close behind on my kite foil 🤙🏼
the most badass video yet !

that takes two skins making it twice as bulky, this is designed to get you up and then go away.
Amazing!!!!!
How does he get started? Does that have enough power to get him up on foil using a sinker?
yep that was the goal the board in video is @40 liters
Nice video. Sizes? Prices? Where we can buy it? Wind range?

Whaaaaaaaa....!!!! 👏😀

What's getting the low over the water footage? Looks like a drone based on how smooth it is but super ballsy to stay that low to water for that long.
I follow them on my kite foil and use the tiny Go3 action camera from Insta360 that I I hold in one hand 🤙🏼
foiling evolution ...this is going to go and go.
And I’ll be there to document it 🤙🏼
👍👍marketed?
where can I buy one .. brilliant

You should try this with a shopping bag
Ikea bag should do the trick 😜🤙🏼
Umbrella....😂

haven't even tried foiling yet, love seeing how its evolving.
also was this filmed while kitesurfing?
looks awesome anyway
Yes I film while kite foiling 🤙🏼
@@JDFollowCam thats so sick! well done
Wow, beautiful

3m trainer kite? Some 2m pigtails off bridle would be interesting.

@@JoshWiden with a set up designed for paddle up you'll probably be overpowered quick with 4.2, but I would start there as it'll open up lots of days.
Can you go upwind with that thing?
sure can, he can stay in the same area catching multiple waves 🤙🏼
the smallest ozone speedwing would be insane.
There might be a sponsor issue there 🤔🤙🏼

it's a nice innovation but it's very expensive for a tote bag.
Ikea bag 🤔
awesome, now add harness :)
Keep the ideas coming 😜🤙🏼

How does the ease of getting up compare to a wing? Need a bit more size I'm guessing?
i'm on similar size to thw wing i would ride
That is so cool! Watch this space, new product coming to the market soon! 😁
check 'em out at fiveowindsports 🤙🏼
the wing should be about 150% of the size as this and about twice as far away.. then i bet the guy wouldnt need to pump his board to stay up..
They make them in different sizes but I personally enjoy some pumping to get a bit of exercise 🤙🏼
