It 2021 and I want you to know that you’re still helping out young guys that don’t know much about cars and I really appreciate this video from 8 years ago.
Glad it helped you ! You will find many more civic videos will be out soon , and one is used in the show im filming goes from stop to 400hp and i show all the steps that you wont see in the show, like how it was done kinda a behind the scenes but not lol
Some how to thoughts from the average Joe that found this non-trivial. - Other people talk about taking off the fuel pump fuse, then running the car until it stops, this might have saved me from spilling some gas from the lines when I did it. - I couldnt get the seat off! My 00 civic had a 10 mm bolt in the back of the seat that had to be removed first. Some other videos showed this. - I couldn't get the clamps off the fuel lines, mine were on VERY tight. I found that by gripping the fuel line with pliers, and then twisting, it would break the seal and make them easier to come off. - Don't let your wife take the car out and fill it up with gas, after you have started the project!! I think it would have been less smelly if you do it with only a little gas in the tank, and perhaps less dangerous. - Regarding taking off the strainer's metal retaining washer. Use a small flat head screw driver to pry it off, putting if first under the rubber grommet. Mine just popped off and flew away, I was lucky to see where it landed. I did press it down flatter which is important to make it stay tight on when you press it back on. - When restarting, I did turn the accessories on and off several times, and then it started just fine, no problems at all.
93 Civic Hatchback CX owner here. I had a banjo bolt for the pressure side that I had to use a 17mm on. Not sure if its a hatchback thing or not but just fair warning since some people dont have the uncommon 17mm.
I fucked my car up racing home a few days to see my mom before the coroner took her as she passed and a few parts have gone bad and this is one of them, me and my dad have been working on it this whole weekend, thank you so much
Great video! I changed my fuel pump 6 years ago and changed the whole assembly ...which sucks because I had only a 1 year warranty on it. Now I have to change it again(pump is dead). BUT this time I'll just change THE PUMP itself. If I just brought ONLY THE PUMP 6 years ago, I would have had a Lifetime Warranty from O 'Reillys...and it would be cheaper!
you posted that in 2014. Are you fucking kidding me? jesus christ dont even touch a car if you need help. Im here to see positive line for 350walbro install. You know? for more fuel? or is that past your head lol
Thank you this and the other top video combined made it simple, only thing I got hung up on was putting the keeper on think one of the 2 videos mentions using a really small socket attachment to just push it into place that worked for me, i pulled my fuse to the pump before only a couple drops of gas from the lines there was still a lot of fuel in the pump itself just a heads up when you pull it turn it over outside first before disassemble thank you so much no way I could have done without the videos
Great video, thanks, it definitely helped. The hardest thing for me was getting the seat out ('97 LX), as there was a 10mm bolt that was holding the back of the seat in, about 2 inches towards the center from where the two seatbelt buckles come through the seat. Liked & Subscribed.
For anyone who reads these comments in the future, if your fuel gauge is working but it goes up and down while you're driving it, it means that your fuel pump is going to go soon. Might as well go ahead and change it and avoid a break down and tow job later on.
Hey nice vid, got a question if you can help. My fuel guage still works but it just goes up and down so doesnt give an accurate reading. Should i just change the sender unit instead of changing the pump?
So that's why when I bought this '99 Civic the rear seats were lifted up! Previous owner must have suspected a bad fuel pump. I actually think it's the IACV
The first tool you will need is a vacuum. Oh, and a 10mm socket with extension for the back seat removal. Your seat should have been bolted down but it wasnt
i just got a question on what new parts i need to buy and how much they would be, just that i know what i need in general. i have a civic with the same issue and i wanna know what the budget will be
Thank You. Great cars these 1996 thru 2000. Easy and inexpensive to operate. Can you help . My interior needs new panels dash rug ect replacement. Do you know a website to find them? Great video.
So I do hear a sound when I turn the key on but I've been told the gas pump only works while its cool but as soon as I restart the car it won't work anymore and that's the reason it won't turn on. Is this true? Is it the fuel pump?
can i get some help, i have had problems with the fuel system.... the pump wont prime when i turn the ignition to on. ive replaced the pump itself 2 times and they both lasted a little bit before the went out. also i was running low on fuel today and i filled it up and it ran fine for a cupe of miles and then mid highway the car shut off... any thoughts on what it can be?oh and btw its a 92 civic. thanks
I have a 95 honda civic ex 1.6L vtec, and I just had to replace the pump and seal now I didn't know there was a pocket for the filter to sit into I had to turn the pump just right and get it to go down in the tank. It's still leaking a little bit like it's not sitting right to seal it. What should I do? Take it back out and try to get it in that little pocket your talking about?
I have been lucky and havnt had to change a tank on a honda but its not too bad disconnect the fuel pump like in this video then jack it up and work on removing the straps underneath the car that hold the tank it
for me i takes 3 cranks for the car to start and i think its because of fuel pump. i put a fuel pressure gauge and checked it and it stays at 0 psi until the 3rd crank. does this mean i need a new fuel pump module?
thanks. also can I use a sender unit from a 1.4 civic if mines a 1.6. or can I use a sender unit from a 1.6 but two years older than my model? finding it hard to find one for a 2000 1.6 civic
Hi,a Honda Civic into 1.6 gasoline ones what 1992 are es vintage and 125 riders vtech motorcyclist, how large an ac a pump is needed into him? how many bars? Enough would be 3,5 bar ones that 90liter fuel thread one hourly?
Quick question, Would wiring contact with each other r something similar burn my fuel pump fuse? I have to change it everytime it burns out. I just started my car and i felt like my car was going to turn off. Also have a killswitch. My fuel gauge was jumping up and down before as Paladin (UA-cam user) commented. PLEASE get me back on my question, thanks.
I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but you could find out the answer by going to Allexperts.com They have a great Honda guy to answer questions
I have honda hatch, and when I accelerate I get hesitation around 2~3k rpm sometimes to 4k. Do I have to change the fuel pump? How do I test for fuel pump at 2~3k rpm?
Andrew Johnson i read about after market fuel pumps for civic. and every body recommended me to buy oem bc aftermarket seems to break really easily. but oem fyel pump cost me 350$ since its discontinued... si i havent changed mine yet
This just happened to me (99-00 civic lx) while i was pumpin fuel car wouldnt start guy told me it was my fuel pump. So glad i found this video :D anyways gas tank is full anyone know if it will spilll a bit or not at all? Im gonna change it sometime this week
I got a new 92 civic hatch it run fine but a blizzard came nd i haven't drove for a week after i cleaned up the snow i turned it on and let it warm for almost 20 minutes nd i started it running but then it just turned off dont know it can, thought it might be the battery but i replaced it nd still wont turn on i pushed it to my house nd i turn on for while but it was making a lot of weird noises dont know what it can be.
Driving on the highway doing 70mph and suddenly the car turns off. While rolling to a stop I pressed on the gas and no power so I stopped on the side on the highway and sat there for appx 5 minutes, then I tried to start my 1998 civic and it started without any hesitation and I drove it flawlessly back home appx. 40 miles. I can't figure out why it stopped running? So I replaced the fuel filter. Did I do right or do you think it is something else? I use my car for work as I am driving at night and for several hundred miles per day, so any good help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks!Bob/Texas
+xxGrumpy Cat Get a meter and test things. Battery volts, test fuel pump for power ect Nothing Beats a Meter bro it diagnosed my car and I fixed it myself for $80 compared to $700. Meter told me 100% it was my pump

Ok so u have the same fuel pump like me without no arm level.. so i have a 1995 integra and people say i need a arm level in my fuel pump because i dont have it on mines and others say i need to drop the tank because the sensor or level is in there so where can it be because my gas gauge dont work

+Amrit Paul I'm not sure why he left this important step out, but the fuel system is under pressure. Depressurize the fuel system first by removing the gas cap (where you fill up with gas). You should be okay after that.
It 2021 and I want you to know that you’re still helping out young guys that don’t know much about cars and I really appreciate this video from 8 years ago.
I know he's definitely helped me on fixing up my 95 civic
👏👏👏👏
It’s my first car and the fuel pump gave out as me and my dad were just test driving it after we fixed it up lol
I don’t know shit about maintenance and know everything about building an engine and this just saved me many cuss words on my EJ2 😂
2024 now 😂
2023, helping me out!! Lucky for me I have to replace the entire assembly, I appreciate the clean explanation!

After watching your video I would not pay someone to do something I can do that easy, thank you!!

I love how you told me I will need a cup or a can if I have gas in my tank AFTER you showed me how to disconnect the line.
2022 almost 2023 and yes I can agree your still helping us youngsters appreciate you all
2023 and your vid is still helping
Thank you this and the other top video combined made it simple, only thing I got hung up on was putting the keeper on think one of the 2 videos mentions using a really small socket attachment to just push it into place that worked for me, i pulled my fuse to the pump before only a couple drops of gas from the lines there was still a lot of fuel in the pump itself just a heads up when you pull it turn it over outside first before disassemble thank you so much no way I could have done without the videos

6-4-22 and I'm getting ready to go do this job on my civic, thanks for the video.
Simple, explanatory, clear. Well done, very well done!!
Hey just wanted to stop by and say thanks. This video was extremely helpful. Put in my fuel pump today.
Is 2018 and my pump is out, this video will help a lot. Thanks
Needed a refresher. Thank you.

Now I know why. I thought my fuel gauge is busted. Thanks!
Paladin DUUUUUUDDDEEEEE... THAANNNKK YOOOUU SOOO MUUUCCHHH
No it doesn't, there's an arm in the tank that measures the level that can get stuck or old and worn.
Thanks i was about to ask that question mine shows half then when driving goes to full...
Paladin I come from the future...thank you.
Not only that fuel pressure is good to check too
My civic,a1999 , sputters quite bad wen I press on the pedal. Maybe perhaps fuel pump is clogged or on its way out? What do you suggest.
Did you ever figure it out?
Negative Batman but put down some news paper because it will drip gas when you pull it out . Its a easy fuel pump to change, have fun
two diff systems all you have to do is change the sending unit and keep the same pump
French fries under back seat? I call that lunch!!!lol
Great job bro..way to explain everything to the point
Hey nice vid, got a question if you can help. My fuel guage still works but it just goes up and down so doesnt give an accurate reading. Should i just change the sender unit instead of changing the pump?
Life saver you made it look easy
Great video! Thank you! I have a 1999 Honda Civic
thank you pops i appreciate the help , great video

Check your fuse or fuel filter
After the new pump is installed where does the hose clamp go back exactly?
Awesome. Now I can do this myself.
There is a 10m bolt holding down the middle/back of the seat. You can’t just pull it out. Just did a fuel pump change on my 98 4 door
Awesome demonstration!!! thank you very much
Awesome dude u helped me today forreal
Thanks for your video. It really helped me replace my fuel pump.
Great video, thanks! Probably better to vacuum those fries before opening the tank :-)
Any insights on the Gas Tank replacement procedure?
I have been lucky and havnt had to change a tank on a honda but its not too bad disconnect the fuel pump like in this video then jack it up and work on removing the straps underneath the car that hold the tank it
The electrical connections had a bunch of "gunk" in them when I took this apart. Is that normal and should I clean it out? Thank you.
Bro goated for this thank u 💪🏽🤞🏽
do you need to relieve fuel pressure before replacing
for me i takes 3 cranks for the car to start and i think its because of fuel pump. i put a fuel pressure gauge and checked it and it stays at 0 psi until the 3rd crank. does this mean i need a new fuel pump module?
Mines an Accord and I'm hoping it's this easy. Mine makes intermittent noises like popping notices like a little can.

Great vid. Thanks
Thanks, very helpful!
i realize that i would have to crank the car about 2-3 times before it starts would that be a pump issue?
Is the car turning over and then just dying or does it just not want to turn over?
+Stephen T sometimes it's dieing and sometimes it doesn't want to turn over 95 civic usually happens after driving a while

My 2000 honda civic won't start, cranks but no start, thinking might either be fuel pump or filter

Same crx Honda?
Thanks
My 98 civic has a problem where if I don't give it gas it just dies, could it be the fuel pump?
It can be that but also if the iac isnt working correctly it will die at idle or even a vacuum leak
yeah that also happens too, if im at idle or sometimes while im driving
+Cody the Car Guy what's the IAC?
