Bro to say we were just robbed is an understatement. He is so much more scary in this than the actual film this needs to be animated and more people need to see these
@@magalonadizon4146 He kinda is in the final movie as well, Kiros was about to eat Taka in the mountains. But that line in 0:16 defilnetly should have been in the movie, so badass and terryfing for this villain.
Daaaamn!, Kiros has the bones of all the other lion kings he has eaten, that was cold, and the vultures were flying since the other lion came because they knew he was going to be the main course... and the king of the pride is a cannibal white lion, awesome. Actually, i prefer this one over the other in the movie
I mean the characters are more expressive this time around tho. I'm not really concerned too much about the photo realistic animation as long as they are more expressive. I'm just concerned about the dialogues.. you should have really left the dialogues the way they were in this storyboard. or maybe rework the same dialogue but still carry the same level of threat..
Yeah, it’s sort of hinted in the actual movie too. When the white lions find Taka in the mountain, they say something along the line of “We didn’t find anything to eat in this mountain…until now.” It’s heavily implied they would’ve eaten Taka. Taka struck a deal with them not only to get revenge on Mufasa, but also so they wouldn’t eat him on the spot.
This is what Kiros' introduction should've been! Don't get me wrong, I liked the scene that made it to the final cut, but this? This makes him much more intimidating. Love it. Edit: also, I like how at 0:14 the reflections of the bare trees look like a spider's web. The poor lion in the center is already doomed.
Kiros was a good villain, would have been iconic if done in 2d. They didnt try to redeem him or make him misunderstood. He wants power and will kill to get it. So many modern day films try to do a villain that isn't really a villain like Maleficent, Cruella etc. Like let villains be villains again.
If you look at the background lions (especially at 0:06 in the bottom right and 0:42 on the left next to the logs the sisters climb over) that there's atleast one other nale lion in Kiros's pride outside of Kiros himself, his (now dead) son Shaju and Inaki/Azibo (idk which is his name) This also kinda adds a cool parallel to Obasi's pride because that would mean both Prides originally had 4 males (there's two background male lions in Obasi's pride also btw) But when the two prides actually fight each other there are only two males in each Pride, the two background males in Obasi's pride just kinda disappeared in that scene, it's never seen where they went or why they just aren't there.
@@toluwaseolaoyewilliams3846 The original lion king movie didn't shy away from talking about death and killing (and actually show it, several times). And no one bat an eye, no traumatized kids.
It would’ve been really cool to have this on a dark night like this, but I feel like Kiros still should’ve done it himself. Or at least “I would never kill one of my own. But you’re still needing to be punished. I choose exile as your punishment, meaning… you’re no longer one of my own.”
The point of having the lionesses do it is to display power over them and highlight their willingness/ferocity when it comes to his command. Or at least that’s my interpretation. Plus, it’s just a really cool shot.
This is kinda dark, I mean we know Kiros is a cannibal but they showing lion skeletons and Kiros crushing a skull and saying he tasted all the kings of the valley is a little bit too much idk
@@costixd4990 Ironic considering that the original Lion King didn't even try to shy away from those themes. Actually, the killing of kings was the main plot point.
I know the music helped this scene out a lot, but in all honesty the complete lack of music here actually makes this scene more realistic than how we got it in the film itself.
These storyboards literally prove why the “live-action” style of animation doesn’t work, if you make the background and facial animations too authentic, they lose so much personality and emotion. You can see the little details in these drawings, the rough lines on the faces, that make these characters so intimidating. They fact they include these in the storyboards in the first place shows they’re aware of this, so why take it out in the final product😭😭
Thank you- these are my boards :) - all good points. .fact is its all about marketability nowadays- the demographic like you or I who would love to see a more traditional animated production is a small market share. However I gotta say- they really impressed me on this one. The animation was head and shoulders above everything else in the CG VFX Animation production space
THANK YOU EVERYONE. These are all my boards and the first scene I did for Barry Jenkins on the movie. If interested you can see our original direction for Kiros' BYE BYE villain song on my page. It would have made Kiros charismatic and even more memorable. However, the studio got cold feet and went in a much safer direction. The wages of sin is death. All have sinned. Because we have sinned we deserve death. Yet God sent His One and only Son (Jesus Christ) who is God Himself. He became flesh and made His dwelling on the earth. He never sins. Yet He still chose to pay the price for our sins. The wages of sin is death and He died for us. He died in our place so that we don’t have to die. Yet He is risen and alive! God raised Jesus from the dead! Whoever repents and believes in Christ will b saved!

WE WERE ROBBED
I agree
This film could easily be rewritten based off of these animatics
Bamboozled, led astray and run-a-muck 😭😭
AGAIN 😭💀

What Kiros said in 0:16 has to be the scariest and darkest Disney line ever. he would've been the scariest villain in the franchise...
I think he already is .
A cannibalistic king

@@entguarde They do kill them not necessarily eat them
his actor literally played hannibal... the cannibal
It seems like cannibalism is accepted among lions, since Obasi said he would eat all outsiders before they ate him.

the Acid Sequence for songs is the one thing Disney's live-action remakes can't recreate and it greatly waters them own.
Well the one we had in the flim was fine but this was SO MUCH BETTER
Now need someone to animate Kiros with Kraven’s voice lines in spiderman 2. Really just his intro though because it suits him so well 😨
