    Yours are the only tutorial that don't explain jargon WITH jargon xD Thank you!!! Don't understand why you don't have 1000 thumbs up yet cuz I myself want to give you that many already!

      yes!! i understand. teachers cant really go off on long lectures in the studio because they have a time limit. they have to give a full class in just 90-120 minutes. sometimes when I was teaching beginners in the studio, we never made it to jumps at the end of class because I would spend so much time breaking down a single movement. I think I'm better suited to teach on UA-cam for this reason :) I can create a whole class for just a single step.

      Our classes are only 60 minutes, so i understand that our teacher is doing her best to teach us as much as possible. I try to be a good student and do my research :)

    Thank you for this fabulous explanation - had not seen the jete rond broken down like this before and did not know how the leg gets off the floor into attitude from the brush through, nor how to straighten the leg afterwards, nor where to hit the highest point. This was GREAT!!!!! I also loves your videos about the head at the barre and in the basic body positions in the centre - I am about half way through it, it takes a lot of time to program it in so it's automatic, but it is coming together nicely. Thank you so so much!

    Excellent thanks for the demonstration, drawings and tutorial. Only issue is the distraction of the passing traffic and imaging against the light so I can't see you too well

    One additional point: You need to control your working leg. So be sure to keep the inner thigh muscles and the hamstring activated in your working leg.

      thanks! this video is nearly 5 years old- before i was really aware of my hyper-mobility and ehlers danlos syndrome. i definitely still have some wobbles due to joint laxity, but i can watch this and see the same mistakes- as well as notice a difference in how i work today :) always a work in progress!

      i dont have a patreon yet. i'm still just taking donations on venmo... i made an announcement on instagram that 'Salty Sunday' was canceled, but i guess you wouldn't have seen it if you dont have an account. i just hadnt had any days off for a few weeks and i needed to edit and catch up on my sleep! next sunday should be back to normal :)

    Excellent! I’m going to work on these every day with your help. One thing still confuses me: I’ve observed dancers bring their foot past that middle line putting their toe more behind the standing leg, causing a curve in the straight side of the “D” as they bring their foot forward around the standing foot. Is that incorrect or maybe a different style?

    • @SaltySugarPlum
      @SaltySugarPlum  4 роки тому +3

      usually the rule is: dont over cross. some teachers will say to imagine your toe going behind your belly button, or behind your spine, and that is "directly behind" you. but anything farther than that might be considered over-crossing. however, some dancers may go beyond that just to stretch their hips open a little more, or to give their leg a little extra stretch. watching professionals at the barre can be confusing because they all tend to alter the combinations to their body's specific needs for that day.
