Great catches. Always like the tillers. Got to sit in the tiller seat way back in 59 or 60. About 5 or 6 yrs old. I think it was an ALF truck. Wash, D.C. Fire Dept. They also had the mid-mounted aerial single truck. All had rotary lights near the grill.
Tillers are one of my favorite fire trucks in the world they're my first favorite my hometown's fire department has one but I never got a chance to record it responding yet
Many streets in Philly are old and narrow. Tillers are easier to maneuver because they bend and have rear steering. So it makes total sense. Tillers can make turns some straight sticks never could.
@@RedoubleXsome of those trucks are what they call reserves or spares, they are served as secondary rigs when the current one is out for maintenance, another call or repairs, for example, Ladders 163 and 432/402. Reserve/spare ladders are usually rigs that were retired companies
Awesome video bud . I absolutely love tillers . Too bad they're a dying breed in my area . I know many of those were same trucks but my question is how many tillers does Philadelphia have ? Seems like a lot . Good stuff . 👍🏻
Ladder 18's Pierce still being worked on. Ladder 15's Pierce has been reassigned to Ladder 25. Ladder 15 now has a 2002 ALF (EX-Ladder 290, EX-Ladder 18)
@amott919 I'm so sorry I'm 2 yrs late but that's awesome, I love the newer PFD Trucks including the new Seagraves/Aerialscopes replacing the old KME Snorkels and the new Spartans and Rescue 1
Love the sirens. I get nervous when I see trucks not able to get through traffic. Thank you to our heroes in NYC and around the country!!!
Thank you so much for this compilation. I don’t care if the tillers are old or new, they are my favorite apparatus. 👨🏼🚒

Bro I have the biggest question. Why the hell does phili have SOOOO many tillers. Ain’t even that big….
Many streets in Philly are old and narrow. Tillers are easier to maneuver because they bend and have rear steering. So it makes total sense. Tillers can make turns some straight sticks never could.
@@amott919 but don’t like tillers- have no water- you would need engines anyway.
@@RedoubleX Correct. Philly has Engine companies and ladder companies. Each have their own duties.
@@amott919 I also think it’s time to upgrade-update their trucks. They looking older than others
