I agree with your political opinion regarding the backward class. If the family can afford education then there is no need for reservation for that particular family. But if we look at the population distribution of india it is evident that majority of the population in India is socio-economically backward and only a small percentage of the population comprises of upper caste who come under open category. 50% reservation is given to backward clases and the rest of the 50% is for open catergory. 30% of open category competes for 50% of the reservation while the rest of the 70% have to compete for the 50% reservation. And these upper caste people complain about reservation like u don't even have that much competition in open category as much as the reserved category has lmao. And if a backward class cracks the general cutoff then he/she has to compete for the seat in general and does not enjoy the reservation previlege. So how are they saying that reservation in unjustified when the backward students are competing in general if above cutoff or competing70% of the rest if below cuttoff??😂

Regarding your opinion, I accept that people belonging to SC/ST who are rich have adequate representation in society but the problem lies with reparation or dignity. I know, they don't face untouchability but there are several examples where they face notional untouchability. For eg- just go check how many SC/ST IPS officers are in charge in the state of UP, what kind of discrimination they face in their respective workplace? Reservation for SC/ST was not about the poverty alleviation instead it was about the adequate representation with dignity and to undo whatever injustice was done to them. And with respect to constitutional aspect of it, reservation was given by looking at the socially and educationally backwardness of SC/ST unlike economic backwardness of OBC when creamy layer exclusion was touched upon. govt cannot put creamy layer in SC/ST reservation like OBC because if they do that they will incorporate the economic lense which was not deliberated upon in constitutional assembly debates and the whole purpose of giving affirmative edge to them would be defeated. I am not discarding your opinion what I am trying to say here is this is a debatable topic and I think it should be looked through various theoretical lenses. Let me tell you a story of 2 people. Rahul and Suresh. Rahul is a rich boy, his father is an IAS, He is the school topper. He goes to the best coaching, gets the best food, Air conditioning, personal driver for going to school and coaching. Maybe his father still faces discrimination sometimes at office. But overall Rahul is chilling the fuck out in his life. Suresh is a poor boy, his father is a manual scavenger. He is also the school topper, but his school is sarkari, he doesnt have money for coaching so he studies on his own through whatever means he has. His father is a manual scavenger despite manual scavenging being illegal. Overall Suresh has a life which most of us wont last 2 days in. Rahul and Suresh both appear for IIT Rahul gets 1 mark more than Suresh, and why wouldnt he, he is as smart as suresh and he had all the facilities, Rahul gets in an IIT and Suresh doesnt. Because of 1 mark. So are you telling me now that the reservation which Rahul took advantage of because there was no creamy layer is fair because Rahul's dad and maybe even Rahul faced some social discrimination in their lives? This narrative of economical condition not being equal to social condition is a bullshit argument made up by supreme court because they dont have the guts to cancel something unfair. Because politics. So i am sorry to disappoint but i still dont think that there not being a creamy layer in any kind of reservation makes any sense, its political and its bullshit.
No problem, i dont mind people disagreeing, as long as one gives proper reasoning for his/her disagreement, you did, most people dont. And i am not saying that the son of an IAS doesnt face discrimination, in a country like India he obviously faces some level of discrimination, i just think that the level is not enough to be fairly entitled to reservation.
