This is one of my favorite college basketball games of all time. I remember watching with a bunch of buddies on a Saturday night. That place was electric
Don't forget Camby with the two Puerto Rican guards who was running through the league! Felipe Lopez @ St John's (?) A. I. was special/different but the Big East was was super powered
Yup this is right before most of the Big East schools chased after that football money in other conferences!! I remember when the Big East would have 4-5 top ten teams all year especially mid 80’s!
Who else knew that they were going to have a heated 2001 ECF that took them to 7 games. Both are so clutch. Allen Iverson is the GOAT ball handler and Ray hit the most clutch three in NBA history that still gives me chills till this day
Instant Classic. I feel old since i was there watch them go head to head. The Garden was rocking that night. this tournament had a bunch of talent like alvin williams, kerry kittles, just to name a few.
Great game. Brings back memories....and I saw this live. Great players but I will always be a UCONN guy being from Hartford, CT. Iverson was a great college player too.
Ray Allen talks about this game in his biography.. it’s surreal reading about it then watching this actual game. Him n Iverson almost fought the night before LOL
They were teammates during the summer Olympics games in 1995 that took place in Japan. After winning the gold medal Iverson told his teammates that they better not sleep because somebody is going to get pranked. Iverson was the one that ended up being pranked because he passed out first. They decided to put peanut butter and shampoo all over his hands and face. Before they could finish he woke up and got revenge on everybody. When it came time to get revenge on Ray there was a physical fight and punches were being exchanged. Iverson was so mad that he picked up a fire extinguisher and threw it at Ray. Ray ducked just in time. Ray said that Iverson was seriously trying to hurt him.
"I've Watched Allen Iverson Play More As A Child Plus I Have Way More Respect For Him Because At Least He Went To Kobe and Gigis Funeral After They Passed Away, So God Continue To Bless Him At All Times."
I remember watching this game on TV, just being so frustrated that UConn couldn't take command & frustrated that Ray couldn't get going in 2nd half. Then that unbelievable hanging off balance jumper, OMG! I COULDN'T BELIEVE HE STAYED IN THE AIR THAT LONG AND HAD ENOUGH STRENGTH TO PUT UP A SHOT!! i celebrated almost as wildly as Ray did after end of that game
These highlights don’t show how Victor Page DOMINATED in this game. 33 points, tournament MVP- ON THE LOSING TEAM- ONLY player in Big East history to do that. He was spectacular and shined brighter than both Allen’s this whole BE tourney. He had 34 in the BE semi which was also a freshman record. Dude is one of the best “hood stars” ever. Too raw and untamed for the league. Was a sad product of the DC streets of the early 90s. But this dude was off dippers (PCP) and everything!
I think p4p Iverson is above Jordan. Before AI joined the 76ers i kept hearing on TV that there's a player about to join the NBA who is faster than Jordan. At first I thought it was a joke. Then a few months later Allen Iverson started playing for Philadelphia, I finally saw that it was real. He is faster.
And here it is. One of the greatest rivalries in “sports history”. I’m not gonna front I didn’t see the hoopla from Ray Alien first couple of games. Then it was like yo dude is the god right there 😂 everything water lol
Big East basketball best conference of all time. It was a big AI showed UConn love when Kevin Ollie coached Shabazz to win the national title. UConn appreciated AI showing love.
it's crazy how depending on the team that drafts you , or the system you are in how your game changes a bit. Literally watching this video you see Ray Allen creating and in situations where he is shooting off of the dribble which literally never happened in his sonics or Celtics days...maybe more in his Milwaukee days tho
Classic raw DC SUPER HOOD dude that was just happened to also be one of the best athletes ever. This dude was from the bottom of the bottom. Sad story. John tried his best to give him a chance out like AI. This guy Went to HS a block from my Grandmas house. I remember him being on the corner at the corner store more than in school then. It was a miracle just getting to see him play even 2 years of D 1 ball because he was soooooooooo suppppper duper H O O D! Then he started fucking with the PCP and drinking. Dude missed the last day of the draft camp hung over. Would have at least been drafted if not 1st rd. But his life story is tragic
There is nothing like Dick Vitale calling a game he just takes another level and make it's even more fun. Jesus Shuttlesworth vs AI the Answer... every weekend there were epic matchups.
Has the guy who missed the final shot ever talked about it? It looks like he assumed Iverson was taking the final shot for the win at the buzzer, so when he got the rebound he totally panicked It's like he thought he had .3 seconds rather than 3
Iverson had that if he wasn't scared and did an off balance shot that fadeaway blew it. The big man on the rebound had no legs by then he should've gone way up to put that one in.
Back when players played with their heart and for the game. So entertaining to watch, so much energy and so quick. NCAA and NBA basketball is so boring to watch now, too much flopping.
it's insane how smooth iverson's game always was. it's like he's playing in the backyard
I remember watching this live, thinking, “I’ll never see a better basketball game.”🥃
Lol me too
This is one of my favorite college basketball games of all time. I remember watching with a bunch of buddies on a Saturday night. That place was electric
Man...THIS was College Basketball at its finest! Tough as Hell until the end! All hail Georgetown! AI!
This when the Big East was it. Ray Allen, Allen Averson Kerry Kittles. Just loaded with talent.

Man there was some GREAT basketball back then...i love it
They had epic duels in college and in the nba 🤦🏾♂️ 2 great legends I miss dearly
Love Dickie V as much as it’s about AI and Ray Allen Vitale is also the reason this game was a classic with his legendary calls.
Rewatched this after Ray graduated from UCONN today. Classic
Da fack took him that long to get his degree? He was retired a long time ago 😂
Great game. Brings back memories....and I saw this live. Great players but I will always be a UCONN guy being from Hartford, CT. Iverson was a great college player too.
Watched this as a kid… great stuff!
I remember this game. Ray Allen didn't score whole second half then hit game winner! This was a great game overall
Spoiler alert!

This was the best of Basketball on all levels
Ray Ray celebrated like there wasn't like .5 secs left on the clock. He did his thang!

Basically that’s how good he was
Not really he didn't win shit he could have been 6'4 and it wouldn't have mattered he wasn't a team player.
Victor page won this tournament MVP had 34 this game its a shame what happened to him
Ray Allen was so underrated he wasn't just a three point shooter this is when the Jerry stack house Stephan Maurbury Rasheed Wallace class was in
