My mother's father , died 1982, was a carpenter in the AFC at Point Cook. I was told it was one of his jobs to take the propellers from aircraft and work on them until they were in trim.

I believe they can still be seen by the public if a viewing appointment is made

The next evening my mother gave him a whiskey and got him to tell the story again and she recorded him on a cassette tape . The occupying Germans in Jersey during the last war gave a full military funeral to two British airmen who were shot down so this tradition was continued by both sides.

The control column from the DR1 is in the museum at RMC Duntroon in the Australian state of Victoria.
