loved this video. Neat to see the kids around and learning about stuff without even realizing they are doing it. When I was a kid, many years ago, I was allowed to make spending money by mowing yards. I bought an old push mower with a 2 cycle gas engine and my dad taught me this same trick for getting it started when it was a little cold and maybe flooded a little. We would put a small rag on the end of a wire, soak it with gas, light it off, and hold it in front of the intake and pull on the starter rope. Away it would go! My dad has been gone many years, but he left me this memory.

I have been around engines of all kinds all of my life and have never seen or thought of drawing fire down the intake of a bulky diesel engine to start it...
It makes sense but it never occurred to me!
You learn something new every day!
