Google Pixel Team came a long way. I’ve been following them through the years and I can definitely say that they finally listened to consumers this year and they delivered. The Pixel 6 lineup is the most balanced phone in all aspect this year. Job well done.

I agree with the Poco F3. Bought it a couple months ago on Amazon for 279 and didn't look back. It's an amazing phone for the price. You get a screen protector fit by the manufacturer, a protective clear flexi case and wired earbuds with a USB-C to phono socket all included. Their budget wireless ear buds are excellent for the price as well. Bass is amazing, so good.

I still have my 4XL and I am very happy with it. User serviceable parts, have been able to change the battery myself easily.
I can't agree with the 6 being the best.
There are so many phones that do more for less. Then there's the awful screen finger print sensor.

Got the standard Pixel 6 and absolutely agree. It's a dream to use and a great value. The fact that I got the Pixel Buds with them free was icing on the cake. I upgraded from the Razer Phone 2 which I still have as a backup phone and that phone is awesome but the P6 is amazing.
I got Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700! They retail at somewhere around 200- 250 € ( . So after I resold them I only paid around 500 € for the phone.
What's your take on the fingerprint scanner? I also feel weird there is no face unlock coming from a OnePlus 6T

@@dajanakazmi8081 was a preorder deal with Best Buy as well as other online retailers. My friend and I both took advantage of it. They are surprisingly pretty good.
I'm heavily biased toward Samsung since that's what I've owned from the start, and even though I was hoping the Ultra would take the cake, I think the value of what Google can provide for a phone as diverse as the Pixel is what makes most people would probably agree. After all, spending over 1K for a phone is not what most people would ever want to do.

I was actually awaiting the S21 Ultra to be the at least the best high price or best phone 2021
because the Camera, the zoom, and in general it is a very pleasing to look at phone,
which style wise it's the best my opinion, the only problem I would say it has since I don't know much about it is probably the charging speed, Xiaomi started making 120watt charging wired and I think 80watt wireless which is INSANE, the Pixel though is pretty neat for its price, but the style is acceptable I guess..

In my opinion the s21U is the best all around phone if money is not problem. It doesn't really have any downsides other than price, and it does everything very good.

Samsung really does a good work.. releasing their flagship phone early and still gets to be compared to phones that are released late in the year.. gives a benchmark for spec's. Just thinking of how better they would perform if its the other way round.

Samsung used to release the Note series near end of the year. They discontinued it this year but the point is till last year this wasn't the case and Samsung still lost all comparisons. Mainly due to the fact that they sell Exynos worldwide which just can't compete at any level with regular Snapdragon.
@@SKNEXUSPK I don't know what you smoked, but the Exynos 2100 actually does a great job, and it's nearly a tie between it and the Snapdragon 888, which heates even more. Samsung's top tier smartphone, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, is the most balanced smartphone you can find at the moment, and they work with One UI is worth the mention
Damn, as an absolute Google fanboy that makes me really happy. I've been using the Pixel 5 since launch and have been absolutely fascinated and in love with it. I couldn't afford to upgrade to the 6 but I won't miss out on the next one

I have to say tho, a hardware is only as good as it's software, so even tho some would be winners on the first look based off of specs, they're not winning because of the software and Arun knows that very well! Your picks were so good and considerate of the software too, great job! Absolutely agree with Pixel 6 as phone of the year!
I too learnt that when I bought a Xiaomi phone and found myself wanting better software, however it wasn't the end of the world as I managed to get a reliable custom ROM working fine, it just requires a decent amount of effort, more than what the average user would be willing to do

But recent releases with note 11 don't have custom roms

@@R3d_8 yeah, ROMs can help, but as you stated, need quite the work, plus you can mess it up and brick your device. Personally, a device like Pixel or Samsung is perfect because of it's great software. I personally prefer Pixel for it's absolutely delightful software!
Pixel line up fingerprint sensor is a joke, I had a pixel 6 pro, it is the worst especially in 2021 and extremely unreliable !!!! It charges soooo slow, it takes TWO hours !!! It has no face unlock...when you watch videos in FULL HD and HDR on Netflix or Amazon prime... it is lagging and freezes randomly!!!!.don't get me started when it comes to gaming !!!...the tensor chip is inferior than other chips, it is a fact !!!! If you have 5g oh my lord it dies after 4 or 5 hours, horrible battery life !!! it is a hot mess!!!! I don't understand why it is on this list, I truly don't...I had to return it after 3 weeks...I guess everyone is biased nowadays...UA-camrs are Google employees after all !!!

The Galaxy Fold 3 is probably the most exciting phone of the year. It's the phone that took a concept and made it a practical reality with a tonne of new features. Definitely excited for what's to come! 👌🏻

The Pixel 6 does have a certain magic to it. It's the first phone I've owned in a while, that I want to keep for years. It's like the Nintendo of phones - yeah, it's not as powerful as a PS5 but it makes up for it in charm, design, cuteness factor and user experience.
I bought the Poco F3 last year based on your recommendation. It's been absolutely outstanding value and, for me, it makes the idea of spending more than £500 on any phone just seem like a waste of money.

I use a OnePlus 3T with Pixel Experience Custom ROM and I mean I LOVE Stock Pixel Android!! It's so clean and so fast and yet, I'm not on Google or Latest Hardware either it can be faster on the Pixel 6!

Yeah, I think it's the way to go in terms of these rankings. The pixel 4a ranked really high on a lot of lists as well because the price just made it so palatable.

You forgot the "Best Camera Phone"
I've owned every 2 generations of the S series since S4. To me S6 edge+ was a very amazing premium feeling where it has the aluminium sides and glass back/screen with an amazing battery life at that time of 6h+ on youtube, and the screen was very bright and super HD. Not to mention the first curved phone that actually has many features to it. Also fingerprint sensor which is very fast and reliable.
S7 series was basically a copy of the S6 with some performance improvements, hence I dident get it.
I then got the S8 (edge)+ which was one of the first phones with an amazing screen to body ratio which is what most phones company copied even til this day, much better gaming performance and a much better battery life at 8h+ on youtube/ 5-6h on games.
Once again S9 is basically a copy of the S8 with minor spec buff so I dident get it.
Then comes the S10+... Oh man this phone is a beast in every aspect possible when its released. The screen to body ratio is almost as if there isnt a bezel, insane stereo speakers, super premium feeling, the holepunch which actually looks kinda cool, in display fingerprint sensor that dosent use a bright light to blind you at night and it only requires one swift tap of less then 0.3 seconds to unlock, insane gaming performance to price ratio and battery life once again improved to over 12h on youtube easily. Im currently using this as my spare phone after I got my S21 series. Bought it on pre-release on march 2019 and there is literally no degrading over 3 years, battery still lasts over 12h on youtube and it can even run genshin at 60fps (tho other settings must be low). An amazing phone to recommend even in today's age as you can easily buy a new S10+ online for $200 or less. And to think its a phone released almost 3 years ago...
S20 is just an upgraded S10 again with minor design change to the back, skipped once again.
Then for the S21 series, I pre-ordered both the S21+ for my sis and the S21 ultra for myself, I've used the S21+ for about a month then the S21 ultra ever since. A few things to note is that the S21+ has a downgraded display of 1080p instead of 1440p, they removed the curved screen which I felt like it was a cool feature to have, and honestly battery wise even tho it has a huge upgrade, I dont feel much difference from the S10+ at about 12h on youtube/ 5-6h on demanding games, they removed the headphone jack and for some reason the speaker is slightly worst then the s10+ (in my opinion). Apart from that, the 120hz screen feels super fluid and I now can see the lag when I use my S10+ to browse stuff online, performance wise it has improved a lot and can now run genshin at max settings 60fps for about 30mins then it starts to slow down a bit. Also I love the S21+ design and the colour (violet with rose gold camera/bezel) and it has a very nice matt finish to it, on top of a nice camera improvement.
Onto the S21 ultra, the 16gb of ram feels more like a gimmick then anything as I dont see any performance improvement compared to the S21+ 8gb, in fact I think the unused ram is jus draining battery. Performance wise almost no difference in games/ normal use, battery is very similar to the S21+/S10+ at 14-15h on youtube and 6h on super demanding games like genshin max settings despite the fact that its supposed to have a much better adaptive screen refresh rate compared to the S21+. It obviously looks more premium and has better display, but overall S21+ is much more value for money as battery and performance is very very similar and have a much slimmer, lighter feel to it.

I'm still using an S10+ I got at launch day. No problems so far with battery or performance and I am a heavy user. It really is a great phone
Got my 13 Pro Max last week and I must say I’m still impressed over and over again every day about the battery life - it‘s really insane! Just yesterday I was doing a lot of work on the phone and had about close to 15h screen on time going from 100% down to 20% and that‘s mostly at half brightness, sometimes a little less but never lower than about a third of the slider and bluetooth and Wi-Fi on! I literally used the phone regularly from 7:30am to exactly 5am the next morning without charging it and with no major breaks 😅 and I still had about 18% left when I plugged it in
Damn thats crazy! I'm still using my galaxy S8 and I have to charge it 3 times a day lmao I'm a light phone user too 😭🤣

Mostly because the phone is almost a year old and S21 ultra is so far ahead on its time which makes it "good, but not the best" with how all android makes S21 Ultra as the benchmark for their flagships. Usually we got the Note series fighting on this end of year awards. Which usually wins in a lot of segments
His and Marques' awards go hand in hand, each covering aspects that the other missed out on. Near perfect.

aside from the phone itself, i think the main problem for google pixel series is the distribution line. i mean in my country it almost cost double the price with no available service center (apple store is also not available in my country but at least they have official distributor that don't double the price) in the whole country. aside from that technical problem, absolutely recommend it for people who want to buy an android phone.

Considering the S21 Ultra has been out for almost a year, unless you're on IOS or one of the people using your phone as a gaming rig, the S21U is the best all around phone of 2021. It compromises on nothing besides micro SD support.

Switched from the iPhone 12 Pro to the Pixel Pro, and I absolutely love it. Been using it for two weeks now with zero regrets.
I bought the Poco F3 this summer and very I'm satisfied. The performance it had for the low price is just simply outstanding.
I also am using the F3 and it is a great phone to use.
But just for the camera! Just for that I am going to switch to the pixel 6!
The 6 will also perform pretty good so I think it won't be that bad of an upgrade!

I didn't have a clear favorite to win the design of the year myself, but I've got to say the winning Vivo phone isn't all that special to me. Google's Pixel 6 lineup beats it easily and so does the phantom silver S21 Ultra or even the Oneplus 9 Pro. Great video nevertheless, very fun to watch:)

Flip3 was incredibly fun. If samsung can figure around putting a little more battery life into it and better reliable speakers, I'd go back. Too bad I had to trade it due to supply issues hindering warranty replacement.

@@JohnL1950 I found it acceptable for still photos but I agree it lacked in comparison to the iPhone live photos. Was not motivated to record any videos on it. But at least neither camera or photo gallery app crashed for me. They both did on the iPhone 13 pro within less than a week of use. Bummer considering everyone told me get the iPhone for photos but to me it is hamstrung by software. I need to find something else next year

I have the Flip 3, besides the weight and the battery life it's a great phone, but I went back to my Note 10 after the novelty of the folding wore off. I don't like my phones heavy and I need my S-pen.

They mostly improved cameras, battery and performance tho. The design is pretty much the same, so much that it is difficult to distinguish an iphone 12 from a 13 by just looking at it. Same screen, same notch, same audio quality

@@Eth3realex Oh cool, here in the States the base model (The Normal Pixel 6) costs 599$ and plus tax about 640/650$. The pro model costs 899$ (I don't know how much it costs at the checkout as I ordered the base model but, I think it might be around 970/960$ including tax)

Oh you can't imagine how excited I am for this. I hope you can get to use phones like Tecno, Realme, etc. They just keep surprising each time.
I've had the Samsung A90 for a good 2 years now and quite honestly is the best phone I have ever bought. The only downside I have with it is the backing, being super glossy and really smooth that feels cheap and easily slip out of your hand but a simple case can solve that issue.
I've been looking to possibly upgrade my phone but I haven't found a suitable replacement or one that's came close to the functionality and reliability of this phone.
I still get 20-24 hours usage out of one charge and that's with using UA-cam, Facebook, Twitter and some gaming on a regular basis.
You can upgrade to the Samsung flagship ie the note 20 ultra, s20 ultra, s21 ultra or even wait for the s22 next year.
Agreed, I had the A90 too. I upgraded to the Oppo Find X3 Pro. Honestly it was worth it. The A90 was amazing, but I love the Oppo. First time I've not had a Samsung. Disappointing the Oppo didn't have a spot in this list tbh because it's the S21 Ultras rival for £400 less.

I was so torn between the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max and the reason was battery life. I couldn’t deal with the size of the 13 Pro Max on the daily, especially coming from the iPhone 12 Mini 😅 so I watched Arun’s latest iPhone battery test and it kinda influenced my decision. I was still in two minds but in the end I bit the bullet and got the standard 13 Pro and I have to say I had nothing to be worried about. The battery life is fantastic for what I use my phone for. Most days I end up with 50+%. Love it! Thanks Arun ❤️
Yeah I've just ordered the standard 13 pro too, I was kinda influenced by the massive battery you get on 13 pro max but the standard one has a more usable size and as we've seen in Arun's video, the 13 pro is still a battery champ
I just picked up a 13pro Max the other day after being an Android user for many years. This battery is DISGUSTINGLY great. Been listening to music on Bluetooth for 5 hours and haven't dropped past 96%. This is insane

I'm glad to see more of a variety win and to hear the S21 Ultra stated as the new baseline for smartphones but I do feel it has been understated for how good it is. At least compared to almost every other Galaxy S phone (I've had 7 of them), the S21 Ultra has been my best experience (esp compared to the S20 Ultra, which was surprisingly the most lackluster). I find it odd that it could be the new baseline to beat but not win any awards, is this because it released in February? And if that's the case, then it will never truly be able to win since it's always one of the firsts

There is only one category for it to win. Mi 11 Ultra and iPhone 13 pro max are just a bit better.
It sets the baseline because they're released first. They might as well set the bar so high for others to catch, or release their phones along with everyone lol.
I've owned every 2 generations of the S series since S4. To me S6 edge+ was a very amazing premium feeling where it has the aluminium sides and glass back/screen with an amazing battery life at that time of 6h+ on youtube, and the screen was very bright and super HD. Not to mention the first curved phone that actually has many features to it. Also fingerprint sensor which is very fast and reliable.
S7 series was basically a copy of the S6 with some performance improvements, hence I dident get it.
I then got the S8 (edge)+ which was one of the first phones with an amazing screen to body ratio which is what most phones company copied even til this day, much better gaming performance and a much better battery life at 8h+ on youtube/ 5-6h on games.
Once again S9 is basically a copy of the S8 with minor spec buff so I dident get it.
Then comes the S10+... Oh man this phone is a beast in every aspect possible when its released. The screen to body ratio is almost as if there isnt a bezel, insane stereo speakers, super premium feeling, the holepunch which actually looks kinda cool, in display fingerprint sensor that dosent use a bright light to blind you at night and it only requires one swift tap of less then 0.3 seconds to unlock, insane gaming performance to price ratio and battery life once again improved to over 12h on youtube easily. Im currently using this as my spare phone since pre-release on march 2019 and there is literally no degrading over 3 years, battery still lasts over 12h on youtube and it can even run genshin at 60fps (tho other settings must be low). An amazing phone to recommend even in today's age as you can easily buy a new S10+ online for $200 or less. And to think its a phone released almost 3 years ago...
S20 is just an upgraded S10 again with minor design change to the back, skipped once again.
Then for the S21 series, I pre-ordered both the S21+ for my sis and the S21 ultra for myself, I've used the S21+ for about a month then the S21 ultra ever since. A few things to note is that the S21+ has a downgraded display of 1080p instead of 1440p, they removed the curved screen which I felt like it was a cool feature to have, and honestly battery wise even tho it has a huge upgrade, I dont feel much difference from the S10+ at about 12h on youtube/ 5-6h on demanding games, they removed the headphone jack and for some reason the speaker is slightly worst then the s10+ (in my opinion). Apart from that, the 120hz screen feels super fluid and I now can see the lag when I use my S10+ to browse stuff online, performance wise it has improved a lot and can now run genshin at max settings 60fps for about 30mins then it starts to slow down a bit. Also I love the S21+ design and the colour (violet with rose gold camera/bezel) and it has a very nice matt finish to it, on top of a nice camera improvement.
Onto the S21 ultra, the 16gb of ram feels more like a gimmick then anything as I dont see any performance improvement compared to the S21+ 8gb, in fact I think the unused ram is jus draining battery. Performance wise almost no difference in games/ normal use, battery is very similar to the S21+/S10+ at 14-15h on youtube and 6h on super demanding games like genshin max settings despite the fact that its supposed to have a much better adaptive screen refresh rate compared to the S21+. It obviously looks more premium and has better display, but overall S21+ is much more value for money as battery and performance is very very similar and have a much slimmer, lighter feel to it.

actually, for budget, I'd recommend a Samsung Galaxy A. Sure, the specs aren't as impressive, but the software/ui is much much better in my opinion. And most people will benefit more from that
Great video, shame the 13 pro didn’t quite make any awards but the max triumphs. I feel the standard pro packs everything into a neater better sized package with less cost and still superb battery life. But can’t argue with the overall flagship here just I feel too big for a daily driver
The 13 Pro is basically the same phone as the Pro Max (besides screen size and battery, as he mentioned in the video). The phone being too big is the main reason I went with e the regular 13 Pro over the Pro Max and I’ve been pretty happy with it. Battery is still better than my iPhone 12 I came from and the 120hz refresh rate is really great.
