I saw this movie decades ago, and this dance is still (hands down) the sexiest piece of cinema I've ever seen. That last part where he stands up, gazing into her eyes...just wow.
I own this movie. I absolutely love it. The way her family teach him and their connection to their dance tradition, very much reminded me of my mother and my family's connection to our traditional Metis dancing. I connected very strongly to this film. Beautiful. Dancing must come from the heart.
It's been approx 25 yrs when I saw this movie in the theaters, I have never forgotten it or the name, as stupid as it sounds, this movie gave me the courage to leave my controlling & obsessive ex-husband
It has been over 25 years that this movie has been rated as "my Favorite Movie", not to be displaced by any others. I've worn out a video tape and while I haven't watched the dvd I replaced it with (a decade ago) for a while, I daresay I've seen this movie over two hundred times. And it makes me weep during this scene - EVERY TIME -without fail. I have one children's book that will do this ("Littlest Angel") and this movie that do this to me, so it's not like I snivel at everything... This movie has replaced gallons of double fudge chocolate ice cream in my life.
I love this movie too and watch it frequently. It's my Saturday matinee feel good movie. it doesn't make me cry, it just makes me sing Time After Time. I reserve my movie tears for Black Beauty (1994/Sean Bean) and cry from the beginning to end. I have to watch that one alone with a box of tissues because it's so embarrassing.
I just watched that clip again - it's one that rides in my mind as Magic In Action. I've got a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes - again. Damn! That's a good movie.
An absolutely brilliant movie. For those who may not know, this was created after a team did a documentary on ballroom dancing and realised how messed up it was. "No new Steps".
I heard an interview with Baz that said his mother was a Ballroom teacher, he's written the basic story as a stage play and later turned it into a movie. I think it's on the DVD commentary track... Regardless it is still my favorite movie and it got me through a really bad summer...
One of my favourite movies even when I hear a song from it, it takes me back to watching it, love the bit dancing to perhaps, perhaps, perhaps so inspiring

It helped me over the worst health scare of my life. I just kept watching it over and over.
One of my favourite films. Great passion xxx

One of the most sensual beginnings of a dance ever recorded. It truly showcases the sensuality of flamenco.
One of the great feel good movies of all time.
Yep. Worth a bucket of double fudge chocolate ice cream!
Still adore this film so many years later . It is timeless and so encouraging.
Love this movie. Just wonderful as is Paul Mercurio!

Apparently, in Australia it’s regarded much the same as the original Trek is over here. Sad.

It takes a lot of courage to make that leap. I hope you are happy .

If all ballroom dancing was this sexy I never would have gotten into ballet (and yes, I am aware of Mr. Mercurio's pedigree).
