My first time seeing Yogi Ferrell was 9U Nationals in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Him and Kyle Anderson are the only two that lived up to those early rankings up until college.
My AAU team back in the day caught some work from them boys lol.. We beat Kyle Anderson team (long island lightening) cant remember yogi team but we didn't get to match up with them in nationals..
@@MasonA-x1k please. You can take the sport just as seriously at 7 years old playing in your back yard and playing the other kids in your area. It’s pointless to compare yourself to other kids that young lol. The adults do that just for the money
@@treybear8174your wholly weird and probably don’t have a kid. There’s no age limit to when to teach them competitiveness. You just don’t have to go about it in the same way as the older ones
Playing with and against players who are better than you is always a good thing. Learn real time how hard you have to compete, where you are with your game, when you have to back to the lab.
That’s true what they saying about kids being good in 4th grade or even 8th grade.. I’ve seen kids that were raw in middle school and never got any better.. I’ve seen so many cases of that in TN.
I have a aau team since they were in 2nd grade from upward now still playing in 4th grade boys they are doing great and doing the fundamentals and playing defense and offense and they rebound installing the fundamentals plus the extra to be the best they can be and keep working. But everyone of my kids play football basketball and baseball. I tell them play everything you never know what you might be the best at. Got boys NFL erou league basketball NBA nobody knows people tell everyone you don't have a chance let them give their effort and all

Bro, they ain't lying. I was one of those kids. 12 years old, 5'8 215 lbs, touching the backboard. double-double waiting to happen. I was always that fat kid that could move. I'm in my early 40s so back then they only cared about developing you for your position. So going into 8 grade I was already almost 6' tall and 270 lbs and could still move. I had a 6'6 wing span and could guard anybody from 5'7 to 6'3. Then I only grew 2 inches in high school so I turned to football and baseball, got hurt, and was done with team sports by my junior year. They thought I was going to be 6'5 to 6'8, but that never happened.
I seen d garland when he was young and knew he was goin league He played on my lil brother 7th grade aau team as a 5th grader He won the 3pt contest at spiece Little asl lol This was in NW Indiana before he moved to TN
The scout go to line when they don't want you "You've only played within Division ABCD and not against YZ" Don't mean you can't make it but just know what the word is being put out there within that "world" You have to find a way to jump in with the sharks.
AAU these days is a joke. Shit It was a joke when I was coming up 10 years ago but man it's really bad now. You see a kid on the TL with the highlights and all the glitz, Kobes in every colorway but then you see that same kid at a tournament and bro might get 10 points the whole tournament meanwhile it's a kid on his team who doesn't have all that extra shit and he's KILLING everybody. Pure hooper.
When I was little back in the 90s, my friend was one of the top AAU players in my area used to give it to some college players like Wayne Turner. We all thought he was gonna make it to the NBA. He was getting college letters in the mail all the way in middle school we thought he was the shit. Then High School hit and he got caught up in some bad people and everything flaked out. He had the world at the palm of his hands for at least a college scholarship. It pretty sad people with all the talent in the world. Just don’t keep going at it to improve themselves.
