    We don't have Crappies in the UK but I would be really confident throwing this lure. I love to see details in a lure especially natural detail so you get another great BIG THUMBS UP from me 👍😷👍

    which Master Airbrush you using, I have both the 233 & 266 and find I have to really thin the Createx paint down to get it to shoot through both.. And Nice work on the Lure..

      It’s the G22 and I’ve been very impressed with it. I agree with you about the Createx paints, they’re great paints but I don’t think I have a single one I can use straight out of the bottle. I appreciate the comment, thanks!

      I have the Master, a Neo and an Eclipse. I have to thin the heck out of the Createx paints with all of them. I don't think you can get away from it. I can shoot them straight with my.5 needle Master but I need the pressure turned way up. I will say, I just recently started using 4011 instead of a homemade mix and I think there is a difference. I get a much smoother paint when using the 4011. Just my 2 cents.

      @@SammysBaits It’s good to see I’m not the only one having viscosity issues with the Wicked products. They’re great colours-but need that extra step of reducing for sure. 4011 is definitely on my workbench and a little bit goes a long way.

      Also my experience with the original Createx paints that they are quite thick, almost the consistency of gravy. To thin, I have a squeeze bottle of a 50/50 mix of 4011 reducer and UVLS. If it’s still too thick I add more 4011. If you can mix it, then let it set for maybe at least a minute it seems to blend better. I get the little medicine cups from Amazon and use popsicle stick clipped flat on the end for mixing.
      Per the recommendation of several other sites I’m also using Golden brand titanium white. The Golden brand easily shoots straight out of the bottle, the downside being that it is very susceptible to scratching. Any use of a stencil or slightly brushing it results in marks in the paint. Mixing Createx with the 50/50 mix leaves a far tougher finish and it shoots very well with virtually no dry tip
      For your stencil, I keep the clear plastic covers that come on strawberries and blueberries from the grocery store. It’s about the same thickness as the paper, but instead of using the pencil you can see through it to trace the outline with a pointed Sharpie.
      The thing I picked up was clipping the stencil to the bait stand to keep it from sliding around. I do take a small piece of tape rolled sticky side out and use that between the bait and stencil to help hold it in place
      Really nice bait and great attention to detail. I really like the way you did the fins. I can never seem to make mine look anywhere near that good. Thx

      Thank you so much! I don’t have an online store or anything but I can definitely whip something up for you. This lure/pattern would be $20. Send an email to havelures@gmail.com and we can work on the details

    Nice job on the video. What clear do you you use? I am thinking of changing over the way I clear coat my baits.some friends want a santin finish.

    • @havenlures
      @havenlures  Рік тому

      Thanks! I use KBS Diamond to coat the lures in the videos. It’s pretty durable for a 1 part clear. If I know I’m going to be banging the lure off rocks, then I use Enviro Tex Lite.

    10:56 you said turn down your pressure. What PSI for a stencil like this?

    • @havenlures
      @havenlures  Рік тому +1

      I usually just say that because I don’t usually look. Most likely it was below 15 psi. Just a tip-don’t get hung up on exact psi values. There’s a litany of factors involved behind spraying effectively at a low psi (paint viscosity, type of airbrush, how long it’s been since airbrush has been thoroughly cleaned etc.)
      To make a short answer long the key word here is “Effectively”, turn the psi down low enough so paint comes out without any spitting or stippling. Below 12-15 psi seems effective for most paints that are properly thinned for airbrush use.
      Hope this helps!

      @AdamMiharaFishing Рік тому

      @@havenlures I spray most of my stuff at 30psi because that's what Marling said he does. But I keep asking others are there situations where you need it higher or lower. Most say "depends..." and I don't really get a good answer. I wish there was a guide or something like: if spraying black use 20psi or lower or if using a stencil 15psi gets you crisper lines.

    • @havenlures
      @havenlures  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately there’s no silver bullet for psi vs paint colours (although white paint is typically thicker than others, and Wicked colours are high in pigment which makes them thicker). Marling does great work, and he typically paints larger baits-so 30 psi sprayed at a distance would make sense. If you’re painting smaller baits (like your blue/pink balsa bait) a psi of 15-20 sprayed at an angle might be more beneficial for blending. If you’ve watched my Watermelon lure video, spraying the dark green along the back was probably around 5 psi-higher than that would have blown the paint across the lure. Trial and error my friend and see what works for you.

    • @AdamMiharaFishing
      @AdamMiharaFishing Рік тому +1

      @Haven Custom Painted Lures your reply has actually made so much sense for me. For those bigger baits he blasts them. When I blast my smaller lures the pressure nearly knocks them out of my hands. That might be a key to spraying details like gills. I'm getting so much pressure that it's moving my stencil and mesh. Duh! Oh this is helpful!
