    I bought the cloth top-binding tape and the woolen fringe from William Booth, Draper: wmboothdraper....
    I highly recommend them!

    I'd be interested to hear more about plain colored kilts, should an opportunity arise. Things like the unusual details of the fringe and top band on this kilt. But also how you decide to lay out the pleats without a stripe or set to follow, and any other thoughts you have on the subject.

      I haven't any on the Order Book, but when I get a moment I'll prepare a vid using some 'plain cloth' as a training aid.

      For clarification, what tartan is it? I thought I heard McFayden, but my first thought was MacNaughton.

    • @em.142

      @@douglasmachawk7436 correct, it is MacNaughton in modern colours, with the blue stripe in ancient colours.

      @@em.142 : OK, thanks. Having made myself a kilt , from a custom weave of MacNaughton , pleated to the black stripe, I thought it looked very similar. 😉

    Sorry, been a bit crazier than usual. Just a quick drop in to make sure you and yours are alright, given the world is mad. My heart to you. I'll be back soon and such. Cheers.

    Have you sew the Canvas with hand on the Kilt or by maskin?

    How did you get that many pleats? did you pleat it to both stripes in the sett, are the pleats different of depth?

    • @robertmacdonaldbespokekilt3063
      @robertmacdonaldbespokekilt3063  3 роки тому

      the pleats are all of the same depth (+/- 1/16"), I pleated it to a single stripe, and I wound up with that many pleats because it's not a terribly-large sett.

    I made a longer one where the top band is a 3 1/2 inch wide canvas covered in tartan fabric but without pleats. Buckles and straps are on that part. The Kilt (22 inches) is then attached to that canvas 'belt'. So a total of 25 1/2 inches

    • @ducthman4737
      @ducthman4737 3 роки тому

      Of course it doesn't come close to your pieces of art.
      I found one advantage that there is no tension on the pleating.
      The tartan used is called "Gallaecia". Gallaecia is the ancient name of Galicia (part of Spain)
