You have to remember bombs are extremely delicate. They have ingredients that when combined in any way, cause an explosion. Tbh the way he grabbed it and was carrying it could have set it off, and dropping it from any height can cause the reaction needed to make it explode.

the comic book connoisseur Exactly! And don't forget that there's a new (or old but "redeemed") rapist every damn week, and a shit load of affairs and domestic violence. Honestly, I wish they would explore other relationship problems than just rape, violence and cheating.
Yeah, right. Johnny has been disciplined and in tune with Stuart from the word go, and all of a sudden we are supposed to believe he will not only disobey his orders, but even start to rant off like this? I had my hopes pinned Johnny was so keen for the plan to go on, because he was an undercover officer, and everything was put in motion for the final act, and to arrest Stuart and the gang, so when Stuart changed his mind, Johnny was desperate to change it again, so he wouldn`t have to continue being Johnny for much longer. But this was just weird. A bomb with a mercury switch (most likely since it went off when it tipped sideways) stored in a kitchen cupboard! That is just as daft as the idea Johnny would change personality so formidably from one scene to the next, that he would go against the man who owned his place of employment, his roof over his head, and was his superior in the organisation where Johnny had all his friends.
Yeah, I think that would of been a really good twist! The way they did this episode was bad, especially for how long they've been going on about it. Plus Ste didn't really redeem himself. He was all for them bombing a building which could of still injured or killed someone. He needs to leave the show now. There's really nothing that could redeem his character
@@amywonderland9297 I also found it weird Ste would come around to the idea of terrorism of this kind, so quickly. It is one thing to have him be chuffed about reaching the inner circle - but have him being so convinced that he would go along with bombing the local community center, so soon, I find very hard to believe. But I also think that for the grooming storyline to have a point, Ste needs to be de-brainwashed, so he can return to his former self. Remember this was not a story about racism, or anti-muslim sentiments, but a story centered around grooming, and how the organisation exploited Ste and his loss of Tegan by manipulating him and creating a distance between Ste himself and his former friends and family - so Johnny, Stuart and the gang would be the only friends Ste had, and his sole source of influence. Unless Ste is brought back from that corner he helped being painted into, the story would only be half-finished. His road back, and his friends and family`s worries he might not have changed back enough, is just as an important part of the story, as how he got groomed.
Johnny is angry. After his sister's death, he wanted someone to blame. Reason why he was so calm the last few months was because he had hoped that stuart would carry out his plan to blow up the community centre and when he called of his attack, Johnny got impatient and started to lose the plot. Johnny is a vile racist with anger as motivation. Looks like he's even more dangerous than stuart because he's got nothing to lose and therefore doesn't care about the risks.
@@ihh619 Had the situation been as you describe it, than maybe. But it was not Johnny, but Ste who lost his sister, Tegan, when Misbah Maalik performed an emergency surgical procedure so Tegan could breathe, after a fallen three, caused by a storm, had crushed Tegan`s chest so severely she was unable to breathe, and in danger of dying. So Misbah cut a hole straight into her lung, placed the casing of a pen inside it, so Tegan that way was able to exhale CO2 and breathe in oxygen - preventing her from suffocating. But since Misbah had an injured arm at the time (caused by an anger attack from her youngest son), the pain caused her to cause an internal bleed inside Tegan, which were not mended in time - and therefore Tegan died as a consequence. Ste became aware of the injury to Misbah`s arm when he went to thank her for having attempted to save Tegan`s life, and therefore accused her of having killed Tegan. Which technically is partially correct, since Tegan likely would not have consented to the procedure (Tegan was a hospital nurse), had she known about Misbah`s injury. She would most likely have realized the danger that pain from the injured arm could cause Misbah to not be able to perform the delicate procedure safely - and therefore she would not have consented to Misbah performing it. What Misbah should have done, since she as a doctor should have known the risk she subjected Tegan to, performing such a delicate procedure with a dodgy arm, was to ask one of the others present to perform the procedure under her supervision and guidance. Both Ste, Harry, Tony and Leela were there at the time, and could have been Misbah`s hands, had she asked one of them. Leela even is a trained firefighter, and therefore used to operating under stressful conditions with small margins for errors. Legally therefore Misbah could possibly have been charged and convicted with manslaughter for having caused Tegan`s death by recklessly performing a surgical procedure without being in a fit state to do so (it would have been the same if she had caused an injury or death in a hospital theater having operated under the influence of alcohol), and as a consequence should both have lost her job and possibly even been sent to jail. The fact she had to know about her injury, but still failed to inform Tegan about it when getting Tegan and Leela`s consent to perform the procedure, make it likely she would have been sent to jail, had she been honest about what actually happened that night. Had she told the hospital the full truth, the hospital would not have had any other option than to pass the case further up the chain, and both the police and the medical licensing board, as well as the health authorities, would have been involved. But since Misbah kept her injured arm a secret, the internal investigation, conducted by the hospital, concluded Misbah was not to be blamed for Tegan`s death, cause Tegan would have suffocated if Misbah had not performed the procedure, and therefore the procedure prolonged Tegan`s life and chances of survival. But Misbah herself and Ste knew that not to be true. Johnny`s involvement came when he turned up at the coffee shop, ready to start his new job as it`s manager, and overheard an argument between Ste and some of the Maaliks. After that he befriended Ste by agreeing with him and his anger at the Maaliks, and first allowed him to have a stall outside the coffee shop, later offered him a job inside it. At one time Ste discovered Johnny had a gym membership under the name Gavin, and Johnny even falsely claimed to be Ste`s brother at one time. But apart from Johnny claiming to have been to jail, we don`t know anything about him - beside his involvement with Stuart`s anti-muslim gang and their grooming of Ste. I also have to say it would make little sense, Johnny being from somewhere else than Hollyoaks, blowing up a local community center should be so important to him he would risk both his job and place of living by going against his boss and landlord: Stuart. What personal reason, other than to keep his manager job and comfortable home, could Johnny have for wanting to blow up a community center he, as far as we know, hadn`t got any connections to neither it, or the village where it is located, until he came to work and live there? And even do so against the explicit orders of his boss: Stuart? That doesn`t really make sense, does it? As a convict (if he is to be believed) a management job would probably not be available for him anywhere else. So his gratitude, loyalty and dependence likely is much more tied to Stuart as a person (owning both Johnny`s place of work and his home), than to the gang, and it`s anti-muslim cause. Meaning Johnny would be highly unlikely of risking either by going against Stuart`s wishes and orders. Consequently what we were presented with here, was not very good drama - just sensationalized emotional soap foam which really doesn`t make sense logically - but looks very dramatic and engaging on screen. It just doesn`t make sense intellectually, and therefore doesn`t fulfil the requirements for good drama. Had he been an undercover officer/operative of some sort, that would both have explained why he was so eager for Stuart not to postpone the operation, why he had another identity (Gavin), why he hadn`t gotten any girlfriend/boyfriend during his time in Hollyoaks (he might have someone in his other life) and so on and so forth. Even the racist attacks against the brothers with the pizza place could have been arranged and set up to convince Stuart and the others of Johnny`s loyalty to the cause. Deep undercover means he has to be convincing in the role he is set to play. And just imagine the twist, if instead of this nonsense, "are you with me or against me," had followed after Johnny had revealed to Ste he was an undercover officer, could help Ste get out of it all without any convictions cause he himself could testify to how Ste had been groomed, if only Ste helped him convince Stuart to go ahead with the operation, so the gang could be arrested and both Johnny himself and Ste could return to their former lives?
