As a water professional in Ca., I would not advise drinking water from any Ca. river or spring without purification. Chryptosporidium(sp)and giardia are a real problem. Add some chlorine tabs and give it some contact time to do its job. Other than that, great video.
The Watershed bags are really heavy, senselessly heavy. Sea to Summit makes ultra-sil 20 and 35 L. bags that are light (1.7 and 2.2 oz ) slippery and durable enough if used with moderate care. I've used them on multiple 3-8 day trips in a Burn the last 3 years with no problems. A lightweight down sleeping bag is key, something under 1.5 pounds that compresses well, saves a lot of space. Mont Bell bags or Mtn Hardware, like the Phantom 32. Thx for adding to the discussion.
