July here, zodiac cancer. I love rubies, but I actually gravitate more towards moonstone for cancer. I have both and wear what fits my mood. I’m enjoying your channel.
Mine is ruby and I’ve never been a fan of the color red. For my senior class ring I chose to get a pearl because I thought it looked better for every day wear. Just recently I bought my first small natural ruby ring because I figured it would be nice to have a birthstone, and I have fallen in love with it!
One thing I never liked about birthstones is they do not line up with birth signs. Because birth sign changes on the 21 or 22 of a month and birth stone covers the whole month, so two different signs will have the same stone and it just doesn't 'go' with both. Like you might have a fire sign and water sign sharing the same month and the stone won't go with both. July Cancers will relate more to June's stone because a pearl looks like a full moon and it grows inside a shellfish so it's very water-centric. The july stone is ruby which suits July Leos (fire sign) much more than July Cancers.
I’m more traditional, but I understand the appeal of color choice. Also if you don’t like your specific birthstone color, think about how it looks with those of your loved ones. My sister & I are September and my brother is December, and those stones look stunning together!
As a January baby, I love my garnets. In the red garnets, I want the blood red ones, to where there is a hint of brown to the stone. I hate rhodolite garnet, as I loathe pink. I love other kinds of garnet, orange, gold, green (but I prefer green garnets that are closer to the olive green color, rather than the tsavorite emerald green.) As to other gemstones, I love black opals, peridot (strictly for the color), spinel (for its wide variety of colors), fire opals, amethyst (if it's a rich purple color), freshwater pearls (I like their funky shapes), ruby (if it's a pigeon's blood ruby, not the pinker shades), citrine, tanzanite. I'm not a fan of diamonds, emeralds (emerald green is not a becoming color for me), turquoise, sapphires (I prefer a peacock or teal blue). As to the metal with gemstones, give me 18 ct yellow gold!
I’m one of those who dislike their birthstone…well not entirely. I loathe the pale blue aquamarines you see everywhere. I adore the mind bogglingly expensive sea green version though. So while I have the pale blue in my gemstone collection I’ve never bothered to get a piece of jewelry with it. Then 12-13 years ago I read about bloodstone having represented that same time of year back in the Middle Ages. I went in search of some and fell in love with. It’s fun to wear because it inspires questions and I get to teach people about the stone and encourage them to do research if they don’t like their birthstone.
November baby so... yeah. Definitely prefer the modern take. While yellow is my favourite colour in theory, as a gem it just looks impure and unappealing. Blue topaz though, I'll take that.
I'm a peridot girl here but for me it has to be the finest quality. No pea soup for me. I do love how a number of the month stones can be different colors like January's garnet, August's spinel, October's tourmaline. So I guess you could say I'm basically a traditionalist with a propensity for a little wild child to shine through. 😉
I don't dislike Emerald as my birthstone for being a Taurus ♉ but I am attracted to many other stones that I often put first to the front before Emerald.
I think the whole idea of birthstones is just a sales technique. Which would be helpful for a jeweler. If I am going to buy a stone, it will be for its beauty, not for which month I was born. I did enjoy your video.
I didn't used to love my peridot birthstone, but it has really grown on me. But I wish there was an alternative to my two children's birthstone, diamond. Is there a good alternate to the April birthstone other than cubic zirconia? I really prefer colored gemstones in general.
Birthstones were created by the jewelry industry to sell more jewelry, pretty funny honestly. I think it’s a little overrated but it’s a good way of getting people into learning about gemstones so I think that’s valuable
Hi SIR THIS IS SYLVESTER T SANGMA, I AM FROM NORTHEAST INDIA 🇮🇳MEGHALAYA STATE, SIR DATE OF BIRTH IS JULY ,SO PLEASE TELL ME, CAN I WEAR RUBY GEMSTONES OR NOT?
The 12 stones on the breastplate of Moses symbolized completeness, the 12 tribes of Israel, and perfection. The number twelve is significant throughout the Bible, and it's found 187 times in it!
It sounds like you're saying that "birth stone" is just a marketing gimmick without actually saying "it's just a marketing gimmick". If there's no real meaning to behind the assignment of a given stone to a given month, what's the point?
When I was a child, March's birthstone was the bloodstone. I never liked it. Then they started with aquamarine, but so often, I find them pale and insipid....
How can you have a tradition if a bunch of jewelers made this up in the early XX century? That's not a tradition. That's novelty. (So who cares if it's changed?) I do what my jyotishi told me to do, because of my rising sign (not my sun sign, not the month of my birth) and wear green stones (for Mercury), clear white stones (for Venus) and blue stones (for Saturn). (I'm a real traditionalist.)
Traditional Peridot girl here and I love my Birth Stone. Peridot and diamond are stunning together.
Peridot & Diamond are the only crystals that formed deep in the earths crust, maybe that’s why they are fitting to go together.

So glad I found your channel today. I'm off to binge now, Thank you.
Yay! Thank you!
I love the unique colour of my Peridot. Enchanting green.
I agree Peridot is a beautiful color.

I'm in between as I was born in June. While you mentioned the Pearl and Alexanderite you fail to mention the third stone which is the Monestone.
Thank you, I've always wondered why some months have more than one now.
Happy to help!
My birth stone is a ruby. For my most recent birthday, I gifted a beautiful ruby ring to myself.
November baby so... yeah. Definitely prefer the modern take. While yellow is my favourite colour in theory, as a gem it just looks impure and unappealing. Blue topaz though, I'll take that.

me too 😂 i'd rather have a ruby than an emerald
My birthdate is 22nd July, however, other than Ruby, what other gemstones can I wear?

Diamond, Opal, and Sapphire.
Hi Andrew!! I wanna know about yellow sapphire. Is there any of your vid about the stone?
In my Sapphire video I do talk a little bit about it, and also in my under rated stones video. There may be something in there that you find helpful.
The modern view gives people much more freedom of choice--it's my preference, too.
I love your approach to the subject matter. I'm your average jewelry lover.
I am more modern. Simply, because I pick whatever stone and ring appeals to me.
Traditional. I am a November baby and the colors for my birthstone range and that is ok with me. I got a birthstone ring for my 9th Birthday!
Birthstones were created by the jewelry industry to sell more jewelry, pretty funny honestly. I think it’s a little overrated but it’s a good way of getting people into learning about gemstones so I think that’s valuable
Why pawnshop saying it’s “a birthstone only” when I’m buying a ring on them? They are saying there’s no value the birthstone?
Traditional for sure, love garnets.
Me too; garnets are my favorite stone of all colored gemstones.
Both are interesting; I like the choice of both.
Thank you, for the video about gemstones.
Hi SIR THIS IS SYLVESTER T SANGMA, I AM FROM NORTHEAST INDIA 🇮🇳MEGHALAYA STATE, SIR DATE OF BIRTH IS JULY ,SO PLEASE TELL ME, CAN I WEAR RUBY GEMSTONES OR NOT?
I actually like yellow topaz, it reminds me of amber but not as heavy.
Modern for sure. June baby here
April here, of course diamond 💎 for me 😉
May birthstone for me.. I don't get a choice between traditional or modern. 😆
Not a bad option though...
The 12 stones on the breastplate of Moses symbolized completeness, the 12 tribes of Israel, and perfection. The number twelve is significant throughout the Bible, and it's found 187 times in it!
Interesting!
I guess modern view is fresh and more accessible
thank you so much
You are welcome!
I guess I'm traditional. I love my October Opals.
Both!
Great video
I'm an April baby and I totally dislike diamond. BORRRINNGG! Ugh ! I personally love tsavorite, black opal and amethyst. Much more color.
Rubies for me, it's my birthstone. My husband bought me a real beauty.
While I like the traditional list, I feel like options are good 😁
I like the modern view. While I like my birth stone, I prefer the options
Well if I remember right, you have a great month for that option😉
@@YourAverageJeweler
True, I really like the agate

Thanks for your comments;)

Definitely Traditional - otherwise, what's the use;)
No way that's just horrible why should some months get multiple?! It should just be one stone one color keep jt old school
I dont like pearls....
This is totally manmade. For entertainment purposes only.
