- Hello, my fellow explorers! You suggested it so I looked into it! Today we'll be going back through time, taking a look at some of the largest prehistoric leviathans that ever existed, and raking them on a tier list based on how nightmare-inducing they are! If you're scared of the ocean...well you might want to rethink watching this one ;)

Me and the boys finding a time machine to play subnautica IRL
Heck yeah :D
@@TheLastBacon les go :D
Am i invited
Relatable
I feel like you'll get eaten even with subnautica stuff. No spare for you against a family or at least a group of two mosasaurses or megaladons
Imagine that you hear "multiple leviathan class creatures are you sure whatever you're doing is worth it" and seeing anyone of those
I’d get a heart attack right then and there :D
@@TheLastBaconyeah imagine seeing the mosasuaras in the void
@@cristianmagdaleno672 we need a mod like that!
Basically shonisaurus, they were sotial
The fact Livyatan’s full Genus species, Livyatan melvillei, references the biblical sea monster Leviathan AND Herman Melville, who authored Moby-Dick, never ceases to make me giggle.
Such a cool backstory! :)
makes me giggle too, I didn't know that, very cool ✨
everytime i see somebody use that prognathodon image for a mosasaurus my sanity depletes further
Understandable :D
I know
Bc my favorite animal is the prognathodon

@@orionsdrawingshow1024I don’t know who you are. But I respect you 🫵
He went from pixel leviathans to real leviathans to prehistoric leviathans
What a journey :)
You should rank monsters/leviathans from movies. They don’t all have to be water dwelling necessarily, but a “Movie Monster,” teir list would be awesome to see!!
Love the idea :)
Pacific rim?
@@justinmin-860 yeah! Or like the monster in Europa Report, or maybe the aliens in Arrival (they kinda look like squids?). Just some ideas
Other prehistoric leviathans to be included in part 2
Edestus - 7m bizzare "scissors" mouth late Carboniferous predator
Rhizodus - 6m huge Carboniferous fish
Saivodus - 8m shark like giant from early Carboniferous
Cameroceras - 11m monster from Ordovitian seas
Jaekolopterus - 2,5m Largest "sea scorpion" and arthropod ever discovered
Dunkleosteus - 4m shrunked boi (still the same skull size)
Helicoprion - 7,5m early Permian relative of Edestus with even more bizzare jaw
Perucetus - 17-20 metere and 60-70 ton, very chonky basilosaurus relative
Cymbospondylus youngorum - whoping 17 metere slim bodie early Triassic apex predator over half longer than the previous biggest cymbospondylus species
Ichthyotitan - absurdly huge late Triassic ichtiosaurus described this year, 25 metere giant, but the Aust Colossus specimen, possibly part of the spiecies was even larger, absurd 30-35 meter long
Kronosaurus - 11m Pliosaurus relative
Prionosuchus - biggest known amphibian, looking more like a crocodile, possibly even 9 meter long giant
and the three bigest crocs, Deinosuchus, Saurosuchus and Purussarus
Amazing! I’ll look into them :)
Also don‘t forget the Sarcosuchus besides the other crocodiles, this is the primal megacroc I grew up with
@@Lanuzos i dont think sarcosuchus should be a leviathan because the they are so small also they are not crocodilomorph
@@LanuzosSarcosuchus isn’t a crocodilian
Saurosuchus isn’t a crocodilian
Three largest that I know of are: Purussaurus brazillensis, Deinosuchus riograndensis and Crocodylus porosus
Shiver me timbers
Indeed :D
😰
Your timbers have been shivered
I think it would be a cool idea to watch this channel focus more on the real life oceans, as many of us who play Subnautica are already interested in that sort of thing.
It would definitely give TLB more to do and talk about!
I love the idea :)
Im sure this video it’s gonna be great
Hope you like it! :)
Real
@@TheLastBacon Sure im will.
What about Kronosaurus, Dunkleosteus, Archaeon, Giant ammonite? and you didn't even mention the possible biggest creature every discovered; Hector's Ichthyosaur estimated to be 42 meters long (this is a bit controversial and is not a confirmed species but has some good evidence and is worth mentioning as a possible creature. Congrats on 300k! Also you should make a follow up video about this with other giant species you missed, and correcting mosa.
A followup could be cool! :)
Dunkleo is no longer a "Leviathan", my dude is even smaller than a great white
Is Hector’s Ichthyosaur Ichthyotitan? If it is then 42 meters long is COMPARABLE TO 22 TON SPINOSAURUS
Ah i remember suggestinh this video idea! Great video! :)
Yay thank you for the suggestion :)
i used to watch you so much and its so nice to revisit these w subanutica videos
Yay thank you :)
the fact that you still reply to every comment is insane, good job!
Thank you very much :)
How about a video on coolest/creepy/cute/scary deep sea animals? I mean, the flapjack octopus is one of the cutest deep sea creatures ever. 🐙😍
Absolutely love that idea! :)
@@TheLastBacon if you do, don’t forget the Zombie Worms. 🧟♂️🪱
Always happy to see a new bacon video, congrats on 300K!!! 🥳
Thank you so much :)
you're really great, keep it up! i really like your videos:) I would be very afraid to meet the mosasaur
Thank you very kindly :) Me too!
Bru you've grown so much and still reply to as much comments as you can most deserved subs ive ever seen.
Thank you very kindly :)
W video ❤. I love that you listened to us made the video we suggested
Thank you for the W comments! :)
Great video and actually quite accurate! All of the info was up to date! I however would have added ichthyotitan, aust colossus, and the Swiss tyrant. Ichyotitan was a 120+ ton ichthyosau, aust colossus was another ichthyosaur, this time being subadult, and weighed over 200 tons. It is extremely fragmentary. The Swiss tyrant was another ichthyosaur.
Oh wow I’ll definitely look those up! :O
The last bacon is the best youtuber in my opinion 💯. Knocking the challenge away into the deep oceans😮. Love your vids keep up the work. Also will you cover subnautica 2 gameplay?
Thank you kindly! Absolutely - will play Sub 2 as soon as it's out! :)
Great vid bro
Thank you! :)
Hey TLB thanks for the late Sunday nightmare fuel!! I'm gonna sleep so well 😊
Haha you’re very welcome! :)
"the big sharky boi"
beautiful. Great video today.
Completely unrelated but whats your favorite way to cook bacon? air fryer, frying pan, open flame, ect.
Haha thank you! Honestly I'm a classic pan-fried bacon guy :)
Cannibalism...
I'm loving these tier lists
Yay really glad you like them :)
I'd say the most terrifying out of all of them is the leviytan. Knowing how smart whales are they may decide to toy with you rather than just eat you out right. And looking at those teeth and just thinking about being on the receiving end of them is a type of pain that must be unimaginable.
Yeah they really are scary! :)
Or they can vibrate you to death
Great videos, what about a mythical sea monster tier list? I feel like it would be kind of a cool idea, mixing in things from all sorts of different religions.
Love the idea! :)
Amazing video. I can’t wait for subnatica 2
Thank you kindly :) Me too!
My parents recently got divorced about 1 year ago, but your vids always bring joy to my day. By the way, btw I love your content, keep it up! 💯💯🔥🔥
Really glad I can make your days a bit better :)
You’re actually my favorite UA-camr!😊
Thank you so much! :)
nice video, i love it 🙃
Thank you! :)
I love your vids keep it up
Yay thank you! :)
you forgot about my boy perucetus colossus😭,btw i love your videos
Will look into it :)
I had this intimidating nightmare when I was six years (a lot of them revolved either about dinosaurs or tornadoes) where I found myself in an empty swimming pool. The room was very large, it was all metallic floor and walls, no windows, as it were an underground facility. Seeing that this here is a Subnautica UA-cam channel, I want to address that this pool looked surprisingly akin to the one inside the precursor base in the game. But unlike that pool, mine actually had a Leviathan class predator swimming deep inside it. I saw a warning sign which I couldn’t really decipher other than the word „Basilosaurus“
Oh that definitely sounds freaky :O
Fun video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed :)
One that still gives me goosebumps is the Liopleurodon (the one in the leedsichthys pics), despite not being that massive compared to some other animals on this list, this thing jaw and teeth absolutely makes him worthy of being here
Oh yeah they are nightmarish! :)
hey i want to say that if you continue to do these tier list videos you should say why you are putting a certain thing in to a certain rank. The description of the leviathans is cool but an explanation to why you think they fit the rank you put them in would be even better. The video would be longer but also it'd be more interesting.
That’s a really good idea :)
You should do another one of these but with freshwater fish. The long nose gar is basically a real life stalker!
Love the idea :)
Hey Bacon! You should totally do a video playing We Need to Go Deeper, it's an indie submarine rogue-like with amazing lore and mechanics. You need at least one other person for it but it's a ton of fun!
Love the idea! Will look into it :)
Nice vid! You have a really nice voice. You should do audiobooks for the extra income lol.
Thank you kindly :) I like the idea!
While I will say a few things of information are a tiny bit outdated, for the most part this video did well. Leagus better than most people who try to tackle something like this. Good job!
Thank you! :)
I think the massive aourmered tank dunkleosteus deserves a shout out.
True it does! :)
not massive
Great video❤ Btw I randomly found a Cthulhu Subnautica mod and I guess it wasn't on the channel yet, but punish me if it was😊, I'd really appreciate it if you would at least try it in a future video
Thank you! I believe I already covered that one a while ago no? :)
I don't know, I haven't watched all your videos yet, I'm only halfway through them😥
If you ever do another of these, definitely dont miss the Dunkleosteos
Sure! :)
Wow i just watched a documentary about prehistoric sea life with nigel marven and once im done i See this is in my recommended, what a coincidence
Perfect timing :)
Doing modern deep sea creatures or cambrian creatures (anomalocaris fan) would be really cool.
Already did some modern ones like the anglerfish :)
Not sure if someone has mentioned this already, but Perucetus Collosus deserves a mention! It's a fairly recent discovery so we don't have much information on it, but it was big news for potentially being heavier than the blue whale. There's still debates on whether this estimation is accurate, but either way, it would have been huge 👐
It’s so cool that they keep discovering new creatures like that!! :)
@@TheLastBacon Fr; who knows how many giant creatures could have existed whose remains never got preserved/fossilized?
That creatures are scary! Also maybe you can also rank lovecraftian horror sea creatures haha
Sounds awesome! :)
I need more content like that !
Yay :)
Next time i wish you can do a part 2 with things like the dunkleosteus and more pliasaur and plesiosaur categories
Sounds good :)
Thanks!
I would love to see more videos about dinos or subnautica like what you think is the scariest, goofiest, and coolest, animals in subnautica☺️ Love your vids 🥰
4:07 this thing is huge! It is set aside some Liopleurodons, those are already 5-7m long, yet they look petty besides the mighty Leedsichtys
Yeah absolutely massive :)
we finna be gettin thalassaphobia with this one🗣🔥🔥🔥
Awww yisss :)
we are going back in time to get this tier list on the menu.
Oh yeah! :)
Bacon have you heard any Updates about the Gargantuan leviathan mod Or how thats moving along
No idea unfortunately :(
@TheLastBacon I'm thinking the mod has probably been abandoned
i love the ocean, thats why i love subnautica in winter so i can appreciate the much as i can of water. not only in winter hehe :)
Same! :)
When I wait for a new one of your videos I like to think
“He’s bacon a new video”
As in baking
Eyooo :D
Just a random idea that I got when thinking of something to comment: What is there was one of these videos for mythological leviathans etc, I think that would be kind of interesting.
That sounds like a brilliant idea :)
The first one got put in c and I was like oh god😂
Exactly :D
@@TheLastBacon I love how you always respond to like every single comment. how do you do it?
Can’t believe these things once existed, very scary. 🤯
Absolutely :)
Random Funfact: More People die to Coconuts falling from Trees than People die to Shark Attacks
Better be careful around palm trees then :D
It would be pretty cool if these were alive and we had to deal with them
Would be terrifying :)
Someone's probably already brought it up but there's a newly discovered icthyosaur scientists are calling Icthyotitan and it was enormous. Size estimates right now put it at over 80 feet long, but some specimens like the Aust Collosus (which scientists presume to be an icthyotitan) rival the blue whale in size.
That’s so freaking cool :)
Do you reply to everyone on your vids man dang 😆❤️
i think so
I try to get as many as I can :)
It’s crazy to think that a reaper is like three times the size of the megalodon
Yep puts the Subnautica creatures to scale :)
Just so you know, when it comes to dates like these "66 million years ago", "80 million years ago", etc..., the correct way to order it is furthest from our point in time to closest to our point in time
So for example "the Megalodon lived from 20 million years ago to 3.6 million years ago" as opposed to "3.6 million years ago to 20 million years ago"
Also, side note, the way you pronounce some of these names reminds me of Mr. DNA
Ah ok sorry if I messed that up in some of them :) Same with the pronunciation!
Cool! :0
Yes! :)
I'm missing Dunkleosteus. Ever since watching it on "Walking with Monsters: Sea Monsters Special" it's had a very special place in my nightmares
They are super cool :)
Dunkleosteus is an amazing animal for sure but in no way a leviathan. In case you missed it, the most conclusive estimates for Dunkleosteus put it at around 4 meters. That's smaller than a tiger shark.
I got ion cube batteries and even built the rocket… now I need to go to the primary containment facility, is it a good idea to only take a prawn suit and the materials I need?
I think that should be fine :)
Respect to the last bacon for responding to EVERYONE
I really like doing it :)
Some of them are even scarier than the ones in subnautica...
Absolutely :)
Loved the video
The only one missing was dunkleosteus
Thank you! :)
Dunkleosteus SHOULD NOT BE ON THIS LIST
I was watching jurassic park when you uploaded this lol 😂
Eyyy perfect :)
Despite sharks being relatively safe, I do understand the argument for megalodon being S tier. However, how is a mososaurus also not an S? It's terrifying and arguably more dangerous for humans. Been watching your vids recently, very entertaining ❤
Thank you! Yeah fair perhaps it should've been S! :)
You should rank underwater bioms next 🙏
Love it :)
livyatan my beloved
🐋
They’re so scary! :)
It’s crazy that despite these enormous creatures. The blue whale is still larger than all of them
Edit: and that even the reaper leviathan dwarfs the blue whale. Just imagine a ghost or sea dragon or even the sea emperor. I think that would break my brain
Yeah it’s actually crazy how massive the Subnautica creatures are :)
Theres Ichthyotitan, the newest biggest leviathan which got described. Its Sub-Adult Specimen could reach around 25 meters
That’s so cool! :O Will look it up!
@@TheLastBacon Theres also larger Undescribed specimens like the aust colossus which was a sub adult too and has estimates of 35 meters, then theres hectors ichthyosaur which is if the estimates are true most likely the largest animal on earth with estimates to 42 meters.
@@Lucas-pc9rw Finally someone who knows about Hector's Icthy
@@thegamingmushroom1052 theres also something else lurking in the shadows of the ocean thats much younger though, it will probably get released in some time 👀
These are the reasons why i want to dive deep but at the same time the reason i dont want to
Same :D
Thanks, not I not only fear being bitten by a shark in the ocean, not I also fear being gulped and chewed.
I would add the genus Dunkleosteus. Might not be the biggest, but that moth sure makes you need a new diving suit.
True they really are haunting :)
Dunkleosteus definitely belongs on a scary creature tier list. It's not a leviathan, but it's scary as all hell.
Fair! :)
for the next one please do magnipina squid its something straight out of a movie
Sure! :)
prehistoric subnautica mod would actually be sick
also i dont agree with the whole millions of years thing because of my beliefs but this is still an interesting and creepy vid
Would definitely be awesome :)
BACON! love ya buddy, hope all is well.
Thank you! Love u guys too :)
I was try to mean about where i can dowload mods
I recommend Nexus Mods :)
👍
I eat your bacon
love all your vids but where do the dang syclops engen spawn
Haha wouldn’t that be the mushroom forest? :)
There’s actually a newly discovered prehistoric sea creature that looks a lot like shastasaurus, it’s called ichthyotitan and it’s the biggest animal in terms of weight ever I’m pretty sure
:O That's so cool!
200 ton unconfirmed species called hector's ichthyosaur that's 42 meters long big bit on unconfirmed.
I always thought the Liopleurodon was the biggest sea-dwelling predator but maybe those old dinosaur fact books were inaccurate about it being over 80 ft long 😂I still remember that scene from Walking with the Dinosaurs I think it was called, where one came up out of the water, grabbed a decently sized dinosaur and dragged it down with it 👀
Yeah as far as I understand the scale keeps getting updated all the time with new findings :)
The giant liopleurodon in walking with dinosaurs was indeed completely made up. The real animal would grow between 5 to 7 meters long. A little bigger than a great white shark.
Subnautica where an alien comes to earth millions of years ago and discover prehistoric aquatic life
Lol YES :)
Kinda hoped to see dunkleostus but loved the list anyways
They are very cool for sure :)
My favourite marine Big Boi turns out to have not been so big after all (Dunkleosteus) and thus wouldn't be in this list. Alas. On the other hand, Pocket Dunk!
Heck yeah! Pocket Dunk for the win! :)
It's funny but the color of the water near Aurora is the same when the pipes in my house are damaged.
That actually leaves me wondering, did the aurora have so much radiation to leave so much dirty water?
I think it's probably particles in the water from the crash :) Like from the seabed.
even nowadays the most iconic thing he say's is "and let's go"
Yep! :)
I'm happy I was born 80.5 million years later than them .. I don't want to play Subnautica irl
Same haha :)
Right off the bat, a pile of bacon with binoculars and cool new hat.
;)
you did the elasmosaurus dirty 🙏
Why? :) They're super cool!
Was hoping for my boy Dunkleosteous but this has some nice choices, Shastasaurus as one of the highest ones, was also surprising but yeah I don't disagree, big animals are scary!
Would definitely freak me out despite being quite safe :)
imagine a tiny ahhh creature like a few centimetres big being capable of easily killing you. wouldnt that be scary as heck!?? unlike these big animals, you can’t see it coming
That would definitely be bad as well :)
when does the hardcore mode 3.0 video comes out?
2 weeks or so :)
well hell yeah thats my type of video
Yay hope you like it :)
Those Shastasaurus sizes belong to Shonisaurus and Ichthyotitan was even BIGGER than Shastasaurus
45 tons is an extreme overestimate for a Pliosaurus. The confirmed largest Pliosaur is Sachicasaurus vitae had a mass of 17 tons
The Ichthyotitan is super cool too! :)
