"If you guys have taught me anything, is we don't like orcs and we don't like tieflings." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We totally like tieflings (I mean... we're neutral towards them in general, but we love the ones in this story) and that's totally not an orc (in fact, she's much worse).
PS: You should... totally read the description of spells you want to use. That's not how Burning Hands works... 😅

27:30 The fact that the ground in front of Gale was short, steep and covered in grease prevented you to see that burning hands has a short cone as an area of effect, you can hit multiple targets but only directly in front of you. You hit the grease. The grease burst into flames XD

Astarion starts out pretty snarky and selfish. It can change based on you but you have to gain his trust. Similar with all companions, they're outcomes at the beginning isn't necessarily how they end. You have to figure out how best to affect them positively or negatively.
Either locket for now. Find a dead goblin and cast speak with dead 1x and it'll let you "recast" at will until long rest ... The recast option will be over by the end turn button but you'll also need to sometimes use a disguise to speak to someone you killed. They can be "uncooperative" with their killer lol

Be careful about the armors/weapons you equip, the character might not be "profecient" in it.
Femke has an armor she isn't profecient in equiped which blocks spell casting.
Yellow text on an item tells you if the selected character is NOT profecient.
You equiped a spear on Astarion, he is profecient in it but he doesn't have the strength(STR) to wield it.
Most melee weapons are strength based unless stated otherwise at the bottom of the tooltip.
For example if you look at a dagger, you can see written at the bottom of the tooltip "Finesse".
Finesse weapons use the dexterity(DEX) attribute stat to wield it.
Inversely, most range weapons are dexterity based.
    I'm sorry, I know it's a lot... 😕
Take your time reading the tooltips, if you need more info on the highlighted text inside, you can press the "T" key to lock the tooltip to be able to put the cursor on it.
On a less technical note, I love how well you take the sassiness of the characters, you're not easily rattled it seems ! 😄

When you picked up and put on the armour in which you were "not proficient", I checked online.
"Basically, if you're not proficient with a certain kind of Armour and try to wear it, you will be unable to use Spells and will have a Disadvantage for all Ability Checks, Saving Throws, and Attack Rolls"
You might want to reconsider that gear, but it's a good way to learn. Try things and see if they work.
The healer's accent is, to my ear, Irish.
If you're trying to find out why someone died (which is standard form for a lot of RPGs), the 5 questions enchantment would be incredibly valuable. .The "3D4" and "6D6" stuff is probably about the potential damage. So for the latter, you can get anything between 6 damage and 36.
Thanks for the upload. Great work on those goblins.

    @Roland1405 2 місяці тому +7

Do not change Magic Missile, it always hits and enemy's have no saving throw against it. In the early levels it is one of the best spells you have.
Oh, and we DO like Tieflings... Orcs, not so much, but Tieflings for sure. 😉
You also should bring your Fighter (Lea'zel) into melee range as fast as possible, she is doing much more damage with her sword than with her bow.
Edit: This game lets you do about anything, (like equipping armour and weapons your character is not proficient with (= very bad... 😇) or stealing an idol and starting a war.... 😉) it is not taking the player by the hand and explaining everything.
So it is a really good idea to read up on things that the game tells you that you do not understand in the moment. It will not lie to you. 🙂
4d4 in a spell tooltip means that you roll with 4 dice with 4 faces for the damage the spell is doing. (6d6 is 6 dice with 6 faces and so on) So the minimum you can roll is 4 and the maximum is 16. Pretty much the same as the damage number shown in the same tooltip.
    Edit: Typo

Hello! Welcome to Baldurs Gate 3 Obsession, ahem I mean fandom!
You're doing well! Picking up on context clues and learning quickly, for not having played DnD before.
A couple of things I can point out though. You CAN wear any armour, but not all characters are proficient with all armours. Not being proficient with an armour or weapon is shown as a yellow warning triangle on the bottom third of the tool tip when you hover over the armour/weapon in the inventory. It still provdes protection but it means that you can't cast spells (in the case of a sorcerer/wizard/cleric/warlock etc). It also provides disadvantage for almost everything you roll. (disadvantage means roll 2 times and pick the lower roll, opposite is advantage which rolls 2 times and pick the higher roll). This is what we in the business refers to a BAD trade-off, so equip your people with only stuff that they are proficient in. (Different classes are proficient in different types of weapon and armour, wizards can't wear any armour at all almost, while fighters are trained to carry almost any stuff). I bring this up because soon you might find that Femke can't spells because she is wearng the leather armor.
Regarding spellcasting in general: It seems you've figured out the spell slots thingie which can be a little complex. The spell slots are they light blue dots on the center console. You have at the moment 4 lvl one spell slots and 1 lvl two I believe on Femke, which means you can cast four instances of a level 1 spell and one instance of a level two spell (or a fifth level one instead of a level two). After your magic characters have run out of spell slots they can still use cantrips. They are usually better than trying to use weapons for a magic character.
About the 4d4, 6d6 question that's the number and type of dice the game rolls for damage for that particular spell or weapon. 4D4 means 4 foursided dice, ie the outcome would be somewhere in between 4 and 16 as is reflected in the larger text of the spell. 6d6 is 6 six-sided, etc. It also lists what type of damage the spell does. (fire, cold, radiant etc etc) some mobs are resistant or weak versus certain types of damage. You can right click on a mob and select 'examine' to find out weaknesses and strengths.
Regarding weapons in general: there are melee weapons and ranged weapons. Characters with high strength (La'ezel for instance) hits more often and deals more damage with melee weapons. Characters with high dexterity (astarion) hits more often and does more damage with a ranged weapon. Some weapons have the finesse trait, that means that they use whichever of dexterity or strength is highest (dagger for instance)
Tab on the keyboard brings up all characters inventories at once if you want to transfer stuff between them.
The speak with dead amulet is usually better to wear but you can give Komiras locket to some of your friends to wear for now. Both grant you the ability to cast a spell and that spell will show up as a button among where you cast the rest of your spells, so you don't have to go find the locket in question to cast the spell.
Some spells are what's called rituals, they don't use a spell slot to cast. Popular rituals are 'speak with animals' and 'Longstrider'. Usually I cast them after I wake up from a long rest because they last all day. Longstrider increases your movement so you can move further in one round in combat. 'Speak with animals' does exatcly that, lets you talk to animals, and all the animals in BG3 are fully voiced and have a lot to say. There are more rituals that are useful, they are denoted with a green star squiggle on the tool tip if you hover over them. If I'm playing a wizard or bringing gale I also cast mage armor when I wake up to make them harder to hit.
Slight spoiler/backseat gaming: I'd recommend talking to as many people as possible in the grove before setting out again. You're of course allowed to play any way you like, and I promise it won't permanently lock you out of anything, but there are plenty of things to discover and initiate in the grove and some things are of the nature 'oh that would have been useful to know before'. Almost every black part of the map CAN be uncovered here.

Also, you can send all your supplies to camp, it's completely useless to carry them with you, they just add weight in your inventory. And you can always check how many supplies you have, it's on the upper right corner of your inventory screen. Create a distraction with one party member to get pplz attention, make them look somewhere else, then unlock a locked door, etc. You caaan snoop into pplz stuff for answers just make sure you're sneaking, not in the red "eyeline" of observers, you can take stuff but don't be around to get caught (there is about a 60 second period after you steal or pickpocket that they'll possibly realize something was taken. As long as whoever took it is back at camp or far away until they stop looking, you're fine. Once the heat is off they can return.

Stats are looking excellent now! In older DnD editions stats were more difficult to decide for each class. They trimmed a lot of unnecessary old confusing uses of stats and they're more straightforward now. You're 100% right, cranking up dexterity helps any class that wears robs or lught armor increase their AC and saving throws vs environmental AOE spells, along with constitution to increase HP and saving throws vs poison, etc, both huge for survival. (With mage armor cast on top you can actually get pretty great AC so you're getting hit far less often).
And ofc charisma, a sorcerer #1 stat because their spell hot chance and damage, persuasion checks, and much more are directly related. State look perfect to get rolling and experiment!
And I'll throw this in at the end, the companions attitudes towards you can improve or degrade based on what you do and how it aligns with their values. They can become better or worse, more evil or good based on how you play and what you invest in them or do which they can see or hear, generally speaking. Atm they're recent kidnap victims with their own personal views and goals that are justifiably prickly at things and potentially dangerous strangers.

Shocking grasp as well as burning hands are TOUCH based things.

Some spells are a little confusing and need to be read closely or experimented with to get the gist of. Burning hands, thunderwave are an AOE that originate out from the caster's melee range out to their full range. If you slowly mouse hover after clicking the spell watch for the red cone or area to see where it'll hit. You'll definitely get the hang of things, you're doing a lot of good experiments and asking good questions when something works different than expected, just recheck the spell description again. It's fun to see the same things we've all done, lighting our own selves up with fire while standing in oil, etc. Been there, haha. Wait until it's barrels you accidentally explode that do WAY more damage, haha 😂

  • @chipsalom

I'm at the front end of the video but yes you can run out of camp supplies. It's less an issue outside honor mode so long as you're regularly looting them. But if you don't, you could run out. Its 40 supplies per long rest. Honor mode reduces how much food you'll find and doubles the requirements per long rest. This is not often necessary but you can do a "partial long rest" with no supplies that returns half your spell slots and gives half healing, but is mainly useful if you're trying to trigger camp dialogue and cut scenes that in game choices have triggered to queue. That said, there ARE some select story moments where if you rest too much, parts of the story might progress on their own. So even the choice to rest too little or too much can have consequences. But we're talking like... If you were to play like i did once and wind up with 5 unique long rest scenes i needed to get through because i went so long without rest, lol.

Inventory mgmt. for a noob can be a challenge, it's not explained very clearly for you. For example: 1. Camp supplies can be stored in camp in your Travellers Chest saving you from having to carry their weight around. This means all your food, wine, etc. Camp supplies can be quite heavy, do not carry them around with you, especially as a low strength spellcaster. When you go to Long Rest, it will pull camp supplies from your Travellers Chest automatically. 2. In your personal inventory, you can right click and Send to Camp anything, it ends up in your Travellers Chest in camp, from there you can do whatever with it like haul it to a vendor for sale later or let another char. or hireling have it. 3. The Wares system, from the right click mouse click menus Add to Wares, it let's you tag items as useless junk you will 100% be selling at some point at a vendor. At the vendor, there is a special button for selling ALL your Wares (in local inventory) at once, saving a lot of clicking. You can still store said items in local inventory or camp as Wares tagged, and you can untag items if you marked it by accident. 4. You can send items to camp directly instead of picking them up first. Simply right click them from the item and Send to Camp. There is no reason to clutter your inventory and carry around 329 daggers etc. 5. Teleports back and forth to camp are free, so pack muling your Wares and other sellable items once you reach a vendor is the thing to do, use your hight STR characters to load up like a pack mule and teleport back and forth until everything you need to sell out of your Travellers Chest is sold. Ungroup your pack mule to make things easier and faster in this regard. Have fun!

Most melee weapons in Baldurs Gate depend on strength: The higher strength the wearer has the better they hit and the more damage they do. However there are weapons with the tag finesse. Those weapons can use dexterity instead of strength (they use whatever is higher). Daggers, short swords and rapiers are allways finesse weapons. Astarion has a very low strength but a very high dexterity but you removed his dagger in favor of a spear, which is not finesse. With ranged weapons it's the other way around. Those use dexterity but some thrown ones can be used with strength.
You also should check out the "boring" training ground right next to where you left and talk to Wyll.

At the gate, among the bodies was one of the adventurers who were defending at the gate. People don't like it when you loot the bodies of friends instead of enemies. Looting the goblin corpses, by contrast, was perfectly fine. .
This episodes Lore Dump is on Druids.
Druids live in wild places such as reat forests or swamps away from farmland and cities. They worship gods of nature such as Silvanus the Oak Father. Most of them support a sort of "balance"between nature and civilisation, and while they'll sometimes drive off or kill a band of farmers trying to clear woods they won't go out of their way to destroy existing settlements. There's also the Shadow Druids who worship more aggressive gods (Malar, god of predators) and they do destroy settlements and kill people going about their normal lives. The two sorts really don't like each other.
The two main things about druids are their magic, spells related to nature mostl, and their ability to shape-change into animals. So if you annoy a powerful druid, they might summon a swarm of wasps to sting you and then turn into a bear (or a dinosaur) and do bear-things to your face. Or they can turn into a squirrel and go unnoticed in many places. It's one of my favourite classes.

As a sorcerer intelligence isn't at all important unless you intend to multiclass into Wizard, your main stats should be Dex, Con, and Chr, Something like 14 dex, 16 con, 16 chr. Constitution is needed for concentration and hit points, dexterity for AC and initiative, Charisma for conversation skills and damage. Finally you should place the rest in Wisdom for the saving throws, a lot of bad effects can be avoided with wisdom saving throws. One addendum to this is the high elf cantrip which unfortunately uses intelligence for it's dc but it is only one spell.

    Hi Fififemke!
You seem to be making the effort to learn the game mechanics and lore of this game. I salute you! The camps you make where you can talk to other party members seems very Dragon Age? I agree that a mechanic to actually feed your party on the road is very cool. Tieflings have been around since AD&D 2nd edition. They are widely believed by all sentient races to be descendants of people who (often willingly) mated with devils or demons from the lower planes. There are often seen as outcasts or natural trouble magnets, and subjected to racism. (In the movie "Honor Among Thieves", set in the same Sword Coast region of Faerun, a Tiefling joins the main characters' party by the time they reach the city of Neverwinter.) Tolkien used the words "Orc" and "Goblin" interchangeably but D&D made them separate species. Orcs on Faerun sexually mature by their early teens, are considered full adults by 14, midddle aged by 17 and old by 23. They are extremely aggressive and have trouble controlling their anger. They tend to live in small, isolated, tribal societies ruled by a Chief(usually the best fighter.) In this world, Goblins are smaller than Orcs and are easily convinced to join forces with charismatic leaders of other races. They are the default low level "sword fodder" of D&D. They are related to Hobgoblins and Bugbears.

27:33 grease on floor + fire = fire like explosion,
40:00 oh yeah companions are proficient with different weapons but depending on there stats, will determine if they should use said weapons, you can check what weapons they can use on there character sheet, but for weapons like a spear, mace, axe, sword, they would need the character/companion to have enough strength to use it very well, but with the likes of Finesse weapons, they are better for characters who either have high strength or high dexterity, but in general for melee, you want the character to have high strength or dexterity, if there a class that does most of there damage with melee. Classes who uses bows or crossbows are better with dexterity,
now for Astarion, he has high dexterity, so only use weapons that are Finesse weapons, something like daggers, rapiers, shortswords, those types, but do look at character sheet to determine what the character should be using for armor and weapons, equipping the wrong weapons and armor can do more harm then good, so be careful. btw your class can only wear clothes and not armor.
41:08 btw you can just double click to sell the item , rather then drag, if you feel like dragging is too much of a chore.

It would’ve made for great content, but I definitely don’t want to be remembered as the enemy by the Druids for the whole duration of my in-game time. 😂😭

This game has SO much replayability. I've played a custom, good, evil, neutral, most origin characters now and am STILL discovering things, it's why I love watching streams, too. I get to see approaches and ideas I've never thought of!

@@chipsalom it's the same for me. Other people often come up with things I would never have thought of doing, and then the entire story can become different. Never seen a game with so much meaningful freedom.

I'd suggest you get in the habit of talking to every companion when you Long Rest, whether they have an exclamation mark over their head or not - sometimes they'll have comments or opinions on something that happened recently, that don't really matter in regards to the plot, but give you a better sense of their personality.

@@fififemke ahahaha at least you take the comments into account! but i can assure you each individual has the ability to be good or bad, and it all depends on who you ask lol. the game is nice in that characters are very nuanced and aren’t typically good or bad in a black and white way. even some of the bosses have interesting back stories.

@AlexisTwoLastNames I read each and every comment, always! Nowadays it’s a little hard to reply quickly as I’m slowly growing on YT, but I definitely take the time to read them all. 😄 I’m very excited to get to know the ins and outs of all living things BG3 & D&D. 💃🏼
