About the video
In this video, we will learn about hydro electric power stations.
A hydroelectric generating station is a plant, that produces electricity by using water to propel the turbines, which, in turn, drive the generators.
The fuel for Hydro power plant is water, this should have enough flow and potential to turn the turbine.
A Dam will be constructed in order to store the water to be supplied to the Hydro power plant.
The water from the dam will be carried to the power plant by giant pipes known as penstock.
In a hydroelectric power station, water coming through the penstock, with high force acts on the propeller blades of a turbine ,thereby making it to rotate.
a turbine is a rotary mechanical device, that extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into useful work.
The work produced by a turbine can be used for generating electrical power when combined with a generator.
