Sinead did a very brave thing. I didn't really get it back then I was in high school but now I realize what it was about nothing but respect. Way ahead of her time. She stood up and was speaking out way before the "me too" movement. Big ups to you Sinead.

Thankful and Grateful ...she was exactly at the right time. I remember those days we'll. she was on the radio many times a day. her music fit in with all the other music too. great music on the radio then. not anymore. zero good music on the radio. and Me2 movement made me realise I'm not a femenist. it ruined it. it's too suffocating !!!!! it's too hysterical. !!!

I agree. I was also young and Catholic when she did that and was confused. Now I think she is so brilliant and brave. She has been spot on with all her interviews and opinions.

At that time abuse in the catholic (Irish) church and other catholic institutions was not yet widely known at all. It was known among the abusedof course, and all the silent witnesses. Not being a catholic, I still went to a catholic school a couple of years in the late 1970s (not in Ireland). I learned from the catholic kids about the (sexual) abuse in their church. They talked casually about it, as if it was "accepted as a regular wellknown thing. At another Christian school I went to in the late 1960s, for " naughty" kids, it was "normal" to be beaten or kicked by 2 male teachers. One of them liked to touch pretty, sweet, angelic little blond girls. indecently.

It is one thing to expose injustice and I praise her for brinigng into public conversation about the child abuse in Catholic Church that no one wanted to talk about back then. I also like that she remained a seeker of God and didn't merely bash Christianity, but she obviously had mental issues not too different from young "social warrior" LGBT promoting pop celebrities like Miley, Demi and Jojo Siwa.

I saw it at the time and rolled my eyes ,as did many Irish people, at this "attention seeking" stunt. Pope John Paul was very popular and he was the pope of many of.our childhoods, including Sinead BUT now haven grown up and realised that there are very few people out there who are willing to 'get involved' when there's something not right and an even tinier amount who are willing to be the lamb to the slaughter for it. So RESPECT to her.!

Sinead O'Connor always surprises me because I expect her to be a radical but she's very much a reasonable, caring conservative. I was never too involved with the Catholic Church to have any resentment about it, so I never thought one way or the other about the SNL thing, but she's right on the mark about how the media exploit mental illness. It almost sounds like she's read Dr. Drew Pinsky's book, "The Mirror Effect," in which Dr. Pinsky addresses this issue in the same way. Good for her.

She was RIGHT!!! It is the finest blades that are most easily blunted, bent, or broken. And thank you for your initial real courage Sinead. Informing the world of factual abuse and atrocities, way before we were prepared to hear it, so forcefully. As an abused child, this warrior refused to roll a blind eye. "Through their own words, they will be exposed!" The truth was more important than career!! STRENGTH & COURAGE! And mental illness doesn't mean someone is "crazy or a loonie." Blessings to all! 🥰

Sinead was absolutely right when she spoke about how the media stalked and then sensationalized celebrities struggling with their mental health. They continue to do it now. Only a few weeks ago a headline reported an actress had gone back into a mental health treatment centre as she was struggling. The story died quickly which I hope is in part because society has learned more about mental health. Getting medical help is not a sign of weakness but that of understanding your illness and recognizing when you are not doing well. That is called growth, awareness and a desire to stay well. When someone recognizes they need to regroup with professionals who can help, we need to support that person, not shame them.

Never really been a a fan of Sinead, not that I've had anything against her.........But WOW, she's gone well up in my estimation. Well done Sinead for saying it as it truly is.

I firmly believe MC will be affected by SO passing. I think it changed MC, but in her own way. I like and liked BOTH artists.

She tried to protect Britney (and others) way before it was cool to do so.

She was right about the Pope. So many child victims, negatively changed forever.
