Answer: The Dude! Cruise.
This magical slice of skimboard heaven is sure to help you go the distance and put yourself in the right place, at the right time. Kinda like the last wave of the video... Hope you enjoy it.
If you can't find a Dude! Cruise at your favorite skim retailer, tell them they need to stop blowing it and get some! If all else fails, you can buy a custom Dude Cruise! straight from Exile here:
www.exileskimbo...
Or you can check out our in stock and ready to ship inventory here:

Remember watching the video as a kid. Still have my dude cruise.
😂 same here I am at 27 now about get a dude cruise cause the pro shape is too much work nowadays😂 so here I am watching this video again!
I think this is the best skimboarding video of all time. Video + music are perfect
"Not for getting too radical" Then the sickest air I have ever seen at 4:04 haha
that last ollie was dope!
dude that final air is amazing
Pause at 4:04
Ive been skimming for 13 years and have been through many boards. I tried the Cruise ship and the excelsior, Based on my weight (160lbs)the Cruise Ship was the better choice. AMAZING Board, custom ordered one Today. I have currently a Pro Model Medium Small which I love(3 exiles I have owned). Ive riden Victoria(3boards) Zap(2Boards). Exile is the best. Won many contest with their boards. Thanks EXILE for being a great company and forwarding the sport with the best riders, videos, and boards.
@helladark89 The Dude Cruise shapes are available in both 3/4" and 5/8". There are a few different boards in the video, most are 5/8".
Mr Exile. I remember we had an argument over skimboarding. This video convinced me, cheers. Makes me wanna surf though, looks heaps fun but i'd break too many bones trying to learn.
We love watching AM's win Zap Sponsored contests on their Exiles! Thats like our favorite thing in the world!
There are relatively quite a few skim contests you can attend in the panhandle. Get down there and compete! If you start doing good, let us know.. and if you ever want to meet Steve he is usually in Alabama at least once a year for the Blonde Johns contest....
That was some of the sickest floaters I have ever seen!
That last wave though! hahaha Rad!
it would be really good for getting the most out of lake waves. for sure!
It will certainly have a lot of float for paddle ins... It will probably be hard as heck to wrap but should cruise like a beast on liners. Dont expect a ton of manueverability though. The dude cruises are already sized big. For general use we would recommend the cruise ship at your weight, which would still be a cruiser. Cruise ship 3/4" would be the normal recommendation.
such a crazy sick board! i will just keep dreaming until the day i can get my own!
still to this day, i watch the exile bearded footie to get me pumped for Barnegat. I hope this summer of skim will treat me better, especially with one of these new boards ;)
Pretty stellar looking board, guys. Good job!
@TheSkimbro well get an exile duh! :)
jk. make sure when you are stepping onto your board you are very light footed. You want to jump forward, not down. this will minimize speed loss during your drop. good luck!
@bignachos20 It is a "Resistance Wetsuit" They are from Japan but are sold in the US through Exile or direct. You can custom build any color. The material is also better than pretty much any US wetsuit.
best skimboard video i've ever seen!
@videonoobs Dude! Cruise is probably the best for mushy waves because it is wider, so it has more surface area and float. Even though it is wide you can still wrap it pretty well because of the wings (I think thats what those cut ins at the bottom are called)
A hybrid shape would also work. It's a bit longer and skinnier.
I bought my dude cruise 7 years ago after watching this and it's still my only board I need
Love this Nick. We aim to please! :)
Love the retro 70's music.
if you want that green top color you can just tell hank or steve you want the color at 0:37 in the dude cruise video. That board was sglass. If carbon it wont be so bright but we should be able to get reasonably close. I remember the bottom as yellow but could be wrong.
The cat of the fence hahah , rad vid.
Much love you guys are so good. Loved the shove it in the wave. Wish I was this good, I keep getting better every summer though,
The last rides were insane :)
80 dollar boards are primarily good for learning how to drop and make the transition to the water. if you arent too big you can probably catch some little waves on it, but not like the ones in this video. Probably the minimum level board you would want to do this stuff is a recruit at $299. But, an 80 board aint a bad place to start and see if you like the sport!
That last air was sick
You could go yacht or cruise ship based on your weight. The Yacht is definitely going to be more manueverable while the cruise ship will cruise forever, but be harder to turn. Its up to you what you want out of the board. If going yacht 3/4" is probably best while 5/8: for cruise ship would be best.
thank you exile for making such sweet skimboards! its wierd, my skimmer is almost as big as my air glide surfboard!
@Polacekj90 Hybrid shape is probably best to learn on. Get one thats a little big for your weight and you will be stoked!
Give us a ring. We have good deals on used boards and some boards with cosmetic blems!
so cool, do you have used dude cruise? im from eastcoast!
@galjesric thats the spirit! If you dont get to skim often you can get a recruit or used board to save some cash. We would love to help you out when you are ready!
That last wave holy shit, he boosted sooo high. Damn I love the ocean
So tempted to get this as my next board, maybe a carbon dude cruise textured.
@milseyproductions Links are not allowed in youtube comments. You can order through our distributor by writing exileskimboardsaustralia@gmail.com
Or you can order direct from us online. Just go to our website and click "shop". Warning, shipping to australia is expensive. But I think the exchange rate is pretty good right now.
when you run to the south, turn off the wave and continue skimming south. thats a liner.
if you run south, turn around on the wave and skim north... thats called a wrap.
te dude cruise is probably the best choice for a lake but it will be easiest to turn off the wave and continue riding 'down the line'. it will be harder to wrap the wave and ride back to where you started. But yeah, I think the dude cruise is the best choice for lake skimming. Wraps on lake waves are nearly impossible cause the waves arent as powerful (usually).
Most of these are eglass dude cruises. Performance is similar with the recruits though the eglass ones are a little tougher.
2:51 is so awesome
This is the best surf video I've ever seen.
clarkewi This isn't a surf video bro
Travis Garman There are many forms of surfing bro - body, mat, sponging, shortboard, longboard, gun, sail, kite, finless, paddleboard, foil board, tow-in, catamarans etc. etc. I even saw a guy on a motorcycle surfing Teahupoo. Check it out, its on UA-cam. These skimmers are mainly using the force of a wave, not the slope of the beach to gain power and speed - hence its surfing.- on a skimboard. What I like about their approach is the originality:
still not a surf video...kook
holy crap that ender was crazy, the sidewash and everything
I forever respect skimboarding.
i got myself a paulo prietto pro model with the peacock are bottom and im now getting a dude cruise just for the fact that i hate scratching my art with rocks and the dude cruise is perfect for my south florida liners
Got a Brandon Sears carbon fiber. Best board I ever had.
thats a mix of pads. mainly paulo pro pad though. check them out at the exileskimboards online shop.
We can make the board pretty much any weight that is more than standard... we have had people tell us what they wanted (i.e. 5.2lbs) and have usually come pretty darned close to hitting it. Like I said, it also makes the board stronger and more durable. So if you like heavy boards, its worth it. Making heavy boards is easy. Its light and strong boards that are hard to make!
Yeah I would say go for it. If you dont like it you will probably be able to resell it for a similar price anyway. But I suspect it will work just fine. ;)
Last air was insane!
We have shipped to the UAE in the past but I dont know what the cost was. You will have to email the shop and Steve or Hank can let you know what it would cost. Thanks!
2:21 ....that spot is SICK!!!
@blacksu1n23 there are pretty big differences from the shapes and rockers all the way to the construction techniques and materials used.
@ExileSkimboards
super top secret spot though....the stairs alone are enough to turn lesser skimmers away!
@ranj971 Paulo is using the cruise ship in the video. Sam rides both the Cruise Ship and The Yacht...
I just got my dude cruise a coule weeks ago and i love it
2:44 is probably the smoothest wipeout I've ever seen.
@MrPaperzz looked that way to us. Sam used it in the cabo finals this year too.
3/4" usually gets you further out for sure. Hybrid is probably our most popular all around shape, especially for those starting out. You have to make sure and get the right size though. Give us a call at 949-492-0284 and we can help you choose the perfect size board!
Thats exactly what its made for! More than any other board, it just keeps cruising.... :)
we probably have a few in stock at our shop and/or can help you locate one at a retailer. worst case we can make you one. call us up! 949-492-0284!
@actionpakt 3/4" will give you the most buoyancy for sure!
Talagang napapaKanta ako ng "Oh oh it's Magic!" :-)
that last air was so ridiculous I laughed. it didnt look real haha
lol i love how Paulo says its not for anything to radical and then you see the last shot of the the vid.
Me too, can i have one, haha. This is awesome guys!!
@chiabinho the song and a link to buy it appear right below the view count!
The last jump ... woooooooow
Beautiful
last wave at 4:04 was so sic.
0.o that last one was just insane.
@alec3459 i used to have an apex and i just got my dude! cruise like 3 weeks ago and i can get out way further since its got the wider nose. It's actually the best board i've ever had haha
40 y/0 street skater super inspired moved to the ocean bought a begginner victoria plywood. Can barely run I'm so sore.
Already have a Hybris and I love it. Want to get another board with a little more push power in weaker conditions but I don't want to lose ALL tech. Would you recommend a tapered pro shape like Sears model or a Dude Cruise. P.s. I weigh 200 so I don't know if i would get the mid size dude cruise tapered or the full size all 5/8. Its a very tricky decision. Thanks!
that looks so fun
that last wave was a fatty drop! that was a dope vid
hey last summer i took up simboard and its awesome. some local guys crafted my first skimboard, its a wooden one, same size with the ones in the vid. i think i have some "restrictions" tho because its made of wood...i cant ride waves like in the vid. i can just learn how to shove it/360 and things like that. is it because of the material or because i need more practice ?:D its a little bit heavy..u know.
Its a wider board so maybe some people like moving their foot around a little more. Most of this video was just a couple of boards though, as we were testing basically... so its also possible that we just never put one on :)
awesome man nice video
Greatt Videooo!! Sammy Jumpingg!!!! Big Big Big Airrr!!!!
The best skimboards are the ones for having a good time!
btw the waves where i live r 23/30 times small every now and then a hurricane come by so the waves pickup but usually the waves are a round 2-4 feet
1:49 to 1:58 is what sold me on this board
Mainly, Woody's have less buoyancy then the typical carbon fiber, E-glass, or fiber glass, if you told about those restrictions then you MUST be good enough to ride a next level board. If you got your run, drop, and slide down (AND I mean those three steps SOLID DOWN), then you should move onto a Victoria Foamie, Or a Zap Wedge, or if you want to get your game going a bit, I'd say the Exile Recruits. All those are great choices decide if your good enough and make the decision.
Hey Exile, is the Dude! Cruise made to get you out to the waves? thanks, I have a ZAP Wedge, but Dude! Cruise is my favorite board for sure.
the first waves of the video in the west st session show exactly what a dude cruise is!
really sick vid, exile!! whats the song??
in ur honest opinion (exile dudes) would u try to recreate the dude! cruise so it was good for barrels or would u keep it the same custom design. btw sam kills it at end thats the highest air ive seen
ive been skimboarding ever since i was little when my dad taught me on his wood victoria:) atm i own a sol carbon fiber, i really wanna try new sticks just wondering im 160 what wud be a good exile for meh:D e-glass? or carbon? ive been trying wraps lately not to bad, gettin smooth with em, thx peace.
My Boy Gil Johnson has one and RIPS SHIT UP!!!!! Find us in West Palm Beach FL killin it
Love the bird at 1:29
the most straight-forward way is to enter a bunch of contests and win them :)
haha i like how the bird says sick!
3:29 MOTHER OF GOD!
wish minnesota had this type of wave action :( does the dude cruise work well for lake skimming?
nice choice of music!
@Schmehschmeh98 We hope so too! :)
01:05
The Frontside grab hack at 2:02 is so tight.
2:26 !
ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kick sand on it! People should know that we can easily make boards that are both heavier and stronger by adding extra glass. All you have to do is ask!
WOW SUCH BOOST, SO WAVE, VERY AIR.
You failed.
