"You can get a Christmas ornament that sounds like that now,." That was one of your best lines. I'll always grab a Tomita album If I see one in the dollar bins or at a thrift store, but, it's not something I'd spend a lot of money on.

I'm sure I saw those Tomita records at some point in the past, because I remember seeing his album covers back in the day with his name in that same font every time. Other than that, the only one I've seen before is Chase - and that's only because I have a yellow-label Epic pressing of Sly's 'There's a Riot Goin' On' from 1971 and the inner sleeve advertises it. Never knew what it sounded like, though.

I have the two Tomita albums, plus seven others by him. I collect different recordings of The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst (I have over 30 recordings on vinyl, tape and C.D.).The Tomita one is very different to the rest, but very interesting and amusing. Holst's final movement of The Planets, 'Neptune' is a beautiful and evocative interpretation of an infinity in space, which is eternal.
In 1975 or 76 I was digging in a 99ct cutout bin. I came across The Link Wray Rumble album.I loved it the 1st time I played it and still do.On the back cover there's a picture of him that looks like a 50 year old Elvis.Pete Townsend gives a rave review on the back. The music is great and has everything Rock,Folk Swamp,Blues and Country rock its 50 years old now and still one of my favorites.
I have an exact reissue of "Electric Lucifer" I picked up in the late 90s. Weird, cool record. I thought I was the only one out there who had the "California '99" album! I found it in the store I worked at and bought it for the cover of the Who's "Underture", which I thought was an interesting choice for a cover. I've seen the Happening album here and there for years but it was always priced kind of high. Nice to know musically it's not worth more than $20. I'd still pick it up if I saw it for 20 or less.- JT

I just watched War Games this past week. I had never seen it before. I really enjoyed it and was fun to see a young Ally Sheedy, Mathew Broderick and Barry Corbin. Barry Corbin later played the father of the main character in the TV show the Closer. The characters in the Closer made it a favorite of mine. I remember I was at a friend’s house taking bong hits and my friend put on that Chase album. After a few songs I told my friend if you don’t take this crap off I’m going to leave.
Interesting stuff. I actually heard about the Intergalactic Touring Band through the Clarence Clemons connection and I think Stephan Galfas ran a New Jersey recording studio or something. Yes, Steve Goodman and John Prine were good buddies. Oh yes, Chase were THE BAND to get into for my friends who loved early Chicago and BST.

Id be interested in hearing your thoughts reviewing the Canadian band Zon (either Astral Projector or Back Down to Earth). Hope to see you rewch 15000 subs and include this band in the video. I am aware of a lot of obscure albums, but you are pulling out some real rare ones here. Never heard of Electric Lucifer or California '99, but I really want them now! I was aware of Intergalactic Touring Band, but have never heard it. I picture it being like the musical Andy Bernard comes up with in The Office, haha. Jeez, Capitol went from initially rejecting The Beatles to churning out those acid exploitation albums in no time, eh? "I wouldn't even know how to make fun of the Chicago White Sox" is ironically the perfect diss of the White Sox, as they are such an ignored team, haha.
Other than Tomita, I have never heard or seen any of those other albums and I have been purchasing vinyl since the 60's. One band from the US that I feel never got their due in the states was Cock Robin. Would appreciate your opinion of their three albums.
I must confess a lot of my collection I have little interest in growing. I guess part of it is like you I used to be a DJ, so I've amassed quite a bit anyway. Mostly these days a lot of my vinyl purchases tend to be a lot of remasters or really good mixes for truly favourite albums. Little is totally and completely new. Rather sad in a way, but on the other hand I still play all my stuff I have so no biggie. And yes I HAVE smelled colours and felt the sound of my own thoughts or something.
Robert, I dig all the work by Bruce Haack. I have Tomita's ''Back To Earth- Live In New York'' which is a fun listen. You are really GOOD at discussing BAD albums, that is a rare treat and of course, some of those bad albums could be favorites of mine, that makes your discussion even better. Did you mix up Intergalactic Touring Band with Paul Kantners' Jefferson Starship's album, ''Blows Against The Empire''?
I always assumed that Cubs song was written by a chicago public school class as some promotion or project. The fact that an adult wrote it and the Cubs accepted it is hilarious.
ROBERT... i asked u this before but i have 7 or 8 giant crates of classic 1st print records from 1949-1985 from my Aunts & Grandfather The jackets on a few of Hendrix, the Beatles, Joplin etc are rough. I need to sell them to help my parents out, is it worth it to restore them. The older albums are in better shape And how does one go about selling them. I was thinking about a record store but know that is the lazy way Thanks to you or anyone else with info to help

I was wondering if you knew about Chase...def for horn geeks like me. I'm surprised you don't have the amazing 1970 LP Big Band Moog in that "oddity" collection. 3 Moog synthesizers alongside a 10-piece jazz big band. The highlight is Aquarius from 'Hair.' 🤣
Tomita was a virtuoso dude! You need "The Snowflakes are Dancing"... you can get that in bargain bins also... but who cares... you hear Clair de Lune or Girl with the Flaxen Hair... sold!
I'm looking for that album by Haack! Chase is so ubiquitous around Nebraska, I have a reaction every time I see it. Maybe for something different give "Reachin'" by Arcesia (John Arcesi) a listen for 15k, see how it strikes ya! 😃
"Meet the Mets, Meet the Mets, Step right up and greet the Mets. Bring your kiddies, Bring your wife. Guaranteed to have the time of your life!" Best song in MLB
I had never heard that before and it sounded exactly how I thought it would. The music video of him performing it with all of the over-acting in the studio is hilarious.

Andy Bernard musical would probably be better. lol
Other than Tomita, I have never heard or seen any of those other albums and I have been purchasing vinyl since the 60's. One band from the US that I feel never got their due in the states was Cock Robin. Would appreciate your opinion of their three albums.
I'd like you to review some 90s era Smashing Pumpkins albums.
I bet the planets sounds dope.
A review of Exile On Main St. ?
Can review Bob Dylan Desire
I must confess a lot of my collection I have little interest in growing. I guess part of it is like you I used to be a DJ, so I've amassed quite a bit anyway.
Mostly these days a lot of my vinyl purchases tend to be a lot of remasters or really good mixes for truly favourite albums. Little is totally and completely new.
Rather sad in a way, but on the other hand I still play all my stuff I have so no biggie.
And yes I HAVE smelled colours and felt the sound of my own thoughts or something.
I just have too many at this point and wouldn't have time to listen to everything so time to start purging.
@@RobertFithen Ah I see, I can understand that. I guess I never quite got to that state.
I don't think so, I always knew what that album was. I'm not sure why I thought it would a Grateful Dead project.
I really want a copy of Electric Lucifer!
It's definitely a keeper.
The greatest insulting of Cubs fans of all time was Cubs Manager Lee Elia's rant from 1983. It's glorious!
Thank you for that; never knew that happened. Lot's of good stories out there about this, and of course, UA-cam has the audio. Thanks again.
I need to check this out
@@RobertFithen its hilarious, they used to play it on chi sports radio but had to bleep out every other word, uncut version is on youtube
@CinemaATTACKS "People that come to these day games don't have jobs" lol. What a thing for a manager to say. Lol
I always assumed that Cubs song was written by a chicago public school class as some promotion or project. The fact that an adult wrote it and the Cubs accepted it is hilarious.
Capitol should have used that “The Happening” cover for a top tier band’s album. It’s beautiful.
Indeed.
ROBERT... i asked u this before but i have 7 or 8 giant crates of classic 1st print records from 1949-1985 from my Aunts & Grandfather
The jackets on a few of Hendrix, the Beatles, Joplin etc are rough. I need to sell them to help my parents out, is it worth it to restore them. The older albums are in better shape
And how does one go about selling them. I was thinking about a record store but know that is the lazy way
Thanks to you or anyone else with info to help
To sell a lot like that, I think the best way is Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
15:12 "It's the year 2025, mankind is still alive and on it's way to the next iPhone. By the way, I've just found this super cool vintage typewriter at a yard sale. So, yeah...the future...who-hoo!" 😄
I do have "Moog - The Electric Eclectics Of Dick Hyman". That's pretty good.
I see that Chase album all the time now.
The Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey, not baseball. Please review The Paper Garden - S/T.
You're the first person to catch that.
I have an obscure record by a pathetic group called Kiss. It is obviously American comedy they make the Shags sound proficient.
Think I am going to turn this into a drinking game; know it - drink.
I am three in and not a sip lol.
@@donsheffler I drank nothing.
"Meet the Mets, Meet the Mets, Step right up and greet the Mets. Bring your kiddies, Bring your wife. Guaranteed to have the time of your life!"
Best song in MLB
Riveting. lol
First time ever I was first here!

yes.
Absolutely!
If you think go cubs go is a terrible song then go listen to Marlins will soar by scott stapp the lead singer of creed.
I had never heard that before and it sounded exactly how I thought it would. The music video of him performing it with all of the over-acting in the studio is hilarious.
Inter galactic touring band is some serious crap. It's amazing they would even produce such a burning trash heap.
With such high quality packaging. Some serious money was spent on this. Why?
Autotune is already outdated and it hasn’t been around nearly as long as that Electric Lucifer album.
Robert , back up the camera …. Please 👍
