    One suggestion for playing the Bb - if you play the preceding F chord as a barre chord, you can just take that same shape down to the 6th fret and play the Bb there. It does force you to travel back up to play the C chord, but I found it much easier than the alternative.

    I love that this dude who records simple videos in his room has become my go to for learning beatles songs. Both him and jpm2u just have a great ear they apply to their love of the Beatles. Those two, along with the Shut Up and Play guy are my favorites. Ok, let’s add Justin Guitar so I can call them the Fab Four

    The Bb in the verse is a Bb7. Also, the bass note on the "no sign of love behind the tears" section, on the word "the" is a C# everytime, not a C. ;-)

    • @TakKurtz
      @TakKurtz 7 років тому +7

      Scott is right on the C#...not being a C natural, because the song is over the A7 at that point,(even though you started in Dm) already playing a C# on the B string.

  • @hoochhooch2181
    @hoochhooch2181 5 років тому +6

    Hey Dude, Great job! Chords work very well and those cool note fills after A7 add even more substance to the song. You made it very easy to understand and taught this to me in under 10 minutes. That G chord with the added C note on B string really completes it and resolves wonderfully to the G chord, pure Beatles! Thanks.
    With great gratitude and respect,
    Hooch

    That G chord is called Gsus or in full, a G suspended 4th. So, the 4th note b is suspended to a c. Justly called 'suspended' because releasing it creates a tension to return to the tonica, the C chord. Sorry for being the wiseacre.
    Thanks for this tutorial, this song is deeply meaningful to me now so I started singing it too.
    I think it is one of the masterpieces of the Beatles, which includes Brian Epstein for the magnificent arrangement. Wish I could include that horn somehow but I'm not much of a guitarist.

    Which original? Of course I know you mean from Revolver, but there are so many bootlegs, different takes, arrangements and keys. Such a beautifully painful song, that is not as well known as it should be. I think Sir Paul put so much into this because of his relationship with Jane Asher ending, which must have been profound to him, considering many better known songs of theirs do not have as many versions on tape.
